Maybe it’s time we got back to the basics of love ♫

It doesn’t have to be in Luckenbach, Texas, but handsome Waylon is ready to “get back to the basics of love” with a loving family willing to help him through heartworm treatment. ESRA will provide guidance and pay for his veterinary care.

Waylon is an active, playful guy who might enjoy agility after he is medically cleared.  He’s very engaged,  wants to please, listens well, and has a lot of energy. It took him a little while to settle in with his foster family, but as soon as he felt safe, his loving personality shined through, and he transformed into the typical Velcro Springer.

He knows a few basic commands but would probably excel in a training class with his new owners. Classes do help new dogs learn the house rules and routines and bond with their adopters.

He loves running and playing in the fenced backyard and uses the doggie door. Unfortunately, he will have to take a break from chasing butterflies and playing fetch while he goes through heartworm treatment. He will be ready to run again as soon as his treatment is complete.)

When Waylon first came into rescue, he had a severe and painful ear infection. As a result, he may be wary of having his ears examined and cleaned.

Waylon’s play style is a little mouthy, and he will take your arm in his mouth, but he doesn’t bite down and will stop when told no. He rides well in the back seat of the car and enjoys watching out the windows, but is not happy banished to the back cargo area of an SUV.

Out and about, he is curious and respectful of other animals. In his foster home, he generally gets along with the resident dog but can be territorial of human affection, his sleeping space, and window space at times.

Waylon’s ideal family would include active adults and teens. His energy level might be too much for seniors, and he could accidentally knock little ones down. Some patience and a soft touch will be needed as he settles in, but he will soon turn into a very loyal and loving member of his Forever Family.
