Every once in a while, a dog arrives in our care that moves you to tears. Meet Victoria, better known as Vivi. She was rescued, along with her young pups as a nursing mother, from a painfully neglectful home. She was in rough shape both emotionally and physically and absolutely terrified of everything. Even the reach of a kind hand sent her running.

Over the last 4 months, Vivi has surpassed countless milestones! She has progressed from being too afraid to come in the house to walking in the door even when humans are standing there to greet her. She now wants to be in the same room with her people and even follows her foster mom room to room. She has gone from avoiding any human touch to welcoming affection. On occasion, she will ask for pets! While initially she refused to eat in the house, she now bounds into her crate to enjoy her meals. Our beautiful and sweet girl is starting to spread her wings!

Vivi is crate trained, house trained and doggy-door trained. She loves car rides! Loud noises and abrupt movements still startle her, albeit she is improving. She is learning nice leash skills, yet she is apprehensive when approached with the leash. Her foster parents report she is one of the easiest dogs they have ever fostered. She has undoubtedly stolen their hearts.

For Vivi to thrive, we’re looking for a patient, understanding and calm household. Her adoptive family must have ample time to spend socializing her — continuing to introduce her to new experiences and adventures. In time, the world will become a far less scary place.

As a young, field-bred Springer, Vivi would love regular walks, a roomy yard to explore and plenty of exercise. Vivi is most comfortable when other four-legged friends are near, so we require another dog in the home. Her doggy companions provide her a great deal of confidence, security and guidance.

Vivi is in good health, she’s recently been spayed and had a dental. She’s current on her annual vaccinations, monthly heartworm prevention, and is microchipped.

Vivi is sweet as sugar, kind to all, and deserves the life of a princess after what’s she’s endured. We hope a wonderful family will give her the opportunity to be a cherished family member. We can promise you that watching her blossom will be a tremendously rewarding experience you’ll never forget.

Please submit an Online Adoption Application if you are interested in Vivi. It is always the first step in our adoption process.

Special note to all out-of-state applicants:   Please ask your State Coordinator to forward your approved Adoption Application to the contact listed.  Also note that all out-of-state adopters must come to Texas/Oklahoma to retrieve their dog.  Transports via ESRA to other states is not available and will not be offered.  Dogs will not be allowed to fly in the cargo area of a commercial aircraft.  Smaller dogs that meet the weight and size restrictions for in-cabin flight will be allowed to travel in the main cabin area under the front seat of their adopter in an approved carrier following FAA and airline regulations.  Cost of canine airline travel will be the responsibility of the adopting family.
