Reya is a sweet and snuggly liver-and-white little girl that wants to give you all her love. Like most 4-year-olds, she’s got tons of energy and would benefit from an active human family. She enjoys long runs and loves to stretch her legs at the (fully fenced) dog park. She grew up in a family with children but given her high energy, older children would be best.

Inside, she’ll be curled up wherever you are – preferably in your lap if possible. She’ll sleep peacefully in her bed though would prefer your bed snuggled up against you. She was crate trained by her former family but has been fine free roaming in her foster home. She knows some basic commands such as Sit, Lay Down, and Wait (for her food) and has made progress with others. She greets new people in the home by barking briefly but then quickly shifts to demanding love from them. She’s demonstrated some resource guarding, mostly of human attention, but has now settled in with her foster dog siblings. Reya doesn’t seem to have any issues sharing food or treats.

Outside, Reya’s turbo-charged prey drive turns on and she pulls hard on leash. Despite how little she is, she’s very strong. She’ll need a patient person to work on walking skills with her and to make sure she gets enough exercise. She’s played well with other dogs she’s met at the park, though her former family says she can be a bit bossy. Outside, Reya has very little recall but she has started to make some progress in the short time her foster family has focused on it. She cannot yet be trusted in an off-leash, non-fenced environment. Reya needs a home that offers ALOT OF EXERCISE — off leash is very preferable but must be fully fenced. A home with fenced acreage and very active owners is a must for this beautiful girl to thrive!

Reya came to ESRA with a history of escaping to chase furry friends, so needs a secure environment and supervision when out in the yard. In her foster home she has investigated every little space in the fence but has now settled a bit when out in the yard. If given the opportunity, however, she will make a run for it.

Reya is up to date on vaccines and healthy. She’s spayed and microchipped. The vet says she could gain a few pounds, and Reya is wholeheartedly on board with the plan.

If you would like to meet this sweet girl, please submit an Online Adoption Application if you are interested in Reya. It is always the first step in our adoption process.
