Panda, Panda, Panda! Are you like your name? Black and White? Yep. Soft, cuddly and cute as a button? Maybe so! Eats bamboo? Not so much. Panda has a lot of love to give his people! And his foster sister! Even the elderly cat! He is a wonderful companion. As his foster mom says, “You’ll never find a Springer more loving than Panda!”
We suspect Panda has had a rough life. He is a survivor. He did not thrive in the shelter environment but adapted quickly to his foster home. When moved to a temporary foster home, he was terrified, escaped and survived for 13 days before wonderful volunteers captured him and brought him home.
Our boy attached quickly to his foster family and we expect will attach to his new Forever Home. He is house and doggy door trained, rides well in the car and seeks his crate as a refuge. It is his favorite sleeping place at night. He and his foster sister play often and joyfully. Panda loves his toys, his walks and has learned polite leash walking, at least most of the time! He does well left loose in the home up to four hours at this point (although he will counter surf if given the opportunity).
He has some athletic ability and could be a good hiking companion. Agility could be a future skill for Panda. His foster parents have taught him to respond to verbal and whistle commands, as well as some tricks. He is a smart boy and loves learning new skills. He is neutered and up to date on his shots.
Because of his past trauma and adventures earlier in his ESRA care, Panda is a work in progress. Panda has come a long way from the boy who survived in the wild. He has been helped by his understanding foster home, expert behavioral help and medication. He needs a bit more time to relax, learn that his world is safe and trust new people. He needs a quiet, consistent home. He is not a party boy! For that reason, we are looking for a safe, patient foster to adopt home.
Panda may need a bit more work than some dogs. We have seen the gifts he can bring to the right family.
Please let us know if you would like to help Panda on his journey to a truly happy, confident life.
Please submit an Online Adoption Application if you are interested in Panda. It is always the first step in our adoption process.
