Hi there, I’m Moose!
I’m a 54-pound bundle of energetic teenage possibility looking for the perfect family to call my own. I started life as a stray in a small town in Texas, but thanks to some wonderful rescue people, I’m two years old with a second chance!
At first, everyone thought I was a Boykin Spaniel mix, but surprise — I’m actually 61% English Springer Spaniel! That makes a lot of sense because I absolutely spring across the yard when I’m excited, and I am especially excited when I am in the pool! I love bouncing through water.
The vet said I’m in good health. I am vaccinated, heartworm negative, neutered and microchipped. I do not understand vet clinics or grooming yet, and I need someone patient and kind to help me learn what I can do to help with my care at those scary places. I know how to do baths, but clippers and dryers stress me out.
I’m a smart young guy who learns quickly. Since coming into foster care, I’ve learned to sit and I’m comfortable in my kennel. I walk pretty well on leash and enjoy my daily walks. I’m a good dog with a big heart, lots of potential, and so much love to give. I’ve got a lot to learn, but that just means the possibilities for you and me are endless!
I’m happiest when I have something to do. I love to explore outside and use my brain to work through all the puzzles life offers. I love to chew my Kongs and Bully Sticks. I’m highly intelligent, active, and “birdy.” If you enjoy adventures, walks, games, and training, we could be a perfect match.
I’m devoted to the person at the other end of my leash. I will be loyal to the end; I probably need to follow you from room to room at first, since I’m a young guy who will need guidance in my new home. But I’ll bet full self-confidence will follow, allowing us to become the best partners in life’s adventures!
In my first foster home, I got along well with the senior Boykin, and I did well with cats too. Proper introductions are always very important when a dog meets another playful friend, and I can’t wait to get another playmate! I was a little possessive of my foster mom, so it would be best to have only older children in my new home. Because I’m a young, playful guy, I’d do best with a family that can continue helping me channel my enthusiasm. Routine and clarity in my training have helped me so far, and I’d love to continue that with you!
What I need most is an active, patient Forever Family who will continue guiding me and include me in their lives. In return, I’ll give you laughter, companionship, and the kind of love only a big, beautiful dog like me can give.
