Lola delights in swimming (and she would love a Forever Home near a pool or a lake!) Check out these two videos: Lola Is Learning to Swim! She’s Got It Now!
Hello, everyone! My name is Lola. I am a 5 ½ month old, female bench-type English Springer Spaniel. I am a very happy puppy, and my tail is always wagging! I am currently in foster care with an older springer boy who is my friend. We play together outside and go swimming together. I just started swimming a couple weeks ago, and it’s great! I love to jump into the pool to fetch my water toy! Besides swimming, I like running around with my foster brother in our fenced yard. Sometimes I get a little bossy, but he lets me know when I should stop.
I will go after a tennis ball when one of my people throws it, and I’ll bring it back. I have not completely learned to drop it yet, but you can take it from me and throw it again. (That’s the best part!) Also, I do like all kinds of dog toys, especially squeaky ones, including Wubbas, Nylabones, and regular bones.
When I’m not outside, I shadow my foster parents. For some reason, they call me Velcro. (?) I follow them wherever they go and sleep at their feet when I’m tired. I am not allowed up on the furniture or the bed, but sometimes when I’ve been swimming, I will sleep on the lounge chair by the pool. Swimming is tiring, and I need to dry off in the sun!
At nighttime, I sleep on my bed in the foster parents’ bedroom. I do not like being left alone away from them. If I am left alone, I will let everybody know, loudly, that I am not with them, and I’m not happy about that. I sleep all night on my bed, but I sometimes wake up early. When that happens, I visit everyone to inform them that I want to go outside.
When my foster parents go anywhere, I stay in my kennel. This is probably best until I grow up a little more and become the great dog that I know I will be. But right now, I still have a lot of puppy in me and that can get me into some trouble if left I’m left on my own. My foster parents are sure that I will outgrow this in time.
I have met several other dogs in my short life. Initially, I will bark at them and stand between my foster parents and them until they approach and we complete the official sniffing ritual. Then I am okay to play or visit. I also will bark at strangers when they come up to the house. I do need to tell everyone that someone is here, but after that I will gladly greet the new person and wait for petting and belly rubs.
I am allowed run of the house to spend quality Velcro time with my family and my foster brother. I will sleep next to them while they are resting and reading, usually putting myself underfoot and touching them.
I still have some learning to do, so my foster parents have been taking me to training classes. This is something I think should continue while I am growing up. I love to learn new things, and I especially love to make my people happy!
Sometimes when I get excited, I have “happy water,” but I am getting a lot better, and this is occurring much less often. My foster parents know not to stress me, and this has helped a lot.
So what do you think? I love my foster parents, but I really need to have my very own Forever Home with my own family. If you think we might make a good match, please fill out an online Adoption Application, and then get in touch with my case manager by using the form below or by calling her at 708-799-7039. I can’t wait to meet you and show you what a good puppy I am!
Love, Lola
