Meet Kevin, a devoted, active Springer who thrives on structure and companionship. Kevin is happy, affectionate, and active, a one-hundred-percent velcro dog who is convinced he is a lap dog. He thrives on attention and loves simply being with his people. Kevin has a joyful nature as well as a big personality, and these things make him an entertaining and deeply devoted companion.
This handsome boy is fully housetrained and crate trained. He rides well in the car, and he does not have separation anxiety when he is left home alone. He has been gentle with the resident cat and mostly ignores him. He got along well with other dogs in his previous home, though his playful energy often outlasted them.
Kevin enjoys daily walks, hikes in the woods, enrichment toys, puzzle games, chew toys, and squeaky balls. He is food- and praise-motivated and is eager to please. He knows the cues Sit, Kennel Up, and Trade, and he politely waits for permission before eating his meals. He is currently working on leash manners and polite greetings, and he will benefit from continued positive, consistent training.
Our boy is an active young Springer, but his foster family has learned that his energy is closely tied to attention and structure. When Kevin first arrived, he was highly excitable and had difficulty decompressing in a busy, high-activity environment. In a calm, structured two-adult foster home with routine, daily exercise, and scheduled quiet time to reset, Kevin has made significant progress and now presents as a typical adolescent Springer with predictable zoomies and enthusiasm.
Kevin can become very excited when he wants more attention or when greeting his foster parents or visitors. He may jump up or gently mouth someone’s hand, which is common for a young Springer. This behavior has improved significantly with consistency and clear expectations. His mouthiness is excitement-based communication rather than biting.
He may bark at squirrels or people outside, but this has decreased considerably with training, and he now settles quickly when redirected. Kevin is also a mild counter surfer who is mostly interested in items like dish towels, paper towels, and wrappers, but he responds very well to a simple “trade” and will willingly give items back.
Kevin would do best in a calm adult home or with an older, dog-savvy teen. He is not a low-interaction dog but rather thrives with people who enjoy an involved, companion-oriented relationship with their dog and can provide structure, routine, and build upon his current successes.
This fine boy will prove to be a loyal, loving best friend who will keep his Forever Family smiling with his goofy antics and constant companionship.
