Hank is a fit, happy, loving and energetic boy who acts half his age. He is a typical Velcro Springer.
Hank loves to ride in the car and is a great passenger. He is safe to leave at home unattended as he does not destroy anything in the home. He was never crate trained but there does not seem to be a reason for him to need one. Hank has shown an affinity for swimming. He has the energy of a dog half his age. Tennis balls are his favorite and he loves to carry stuffies too.
Hank has perfect recall and good leash manners. While a fence would be good for safety reasons, he knows the boundaries of the yard and is not interested in leaving. When going on walks, he is initially excited but calms down nicely and walks well on the leash. He does not chase squirrels or other small animals. He has perfect manners at the vet and groomer. He knows many commands. Sit is still a work in progress.
Hank is not sure yet about cats. He is living with dog-savvy cats right now, but sometimes growls when they get too close to his toys. The cats are interested in him, but he is still unsure. He does not chase the cats but should be watched when around cats or maybe be best in a non-cat home.
Hank is very friendly; however he’s a bit standoffish or intimidated with tall men and men in hats. If a man takes the hat off, Hank is more comfortable. He would do best if his new home included a mature woman who he could bond with easily. He also would be best with children 10 years old or older.
Hank is not reactive to other dogs and will wait until given permission before meeting new dogs. He has shown no resource guarding with humans, only with the cats. Hank will protect his home and bark at noises and when he sees things outside. He prefers to sleep in bed with his humans but will sleep in his bed too. He’s a snuggler and loves to sit on your lap. He does not countersurf and sits close by when others are eating. He does not beg but does like to eat and is not a picky eater. A slow feeder will help him not gobble his food.
Hank would love a home where someone is home a lot with him. He’s very well behaved and a real gentleman. He’s in good health and fit for his age. He loves to play but can be quiet and calm when needed.
