Meet Essie Ro!

If you’re looking for a loyal best friend with a heart as beautiful as her speckled roan coat, we’d love for you to meet Essie Ro.

This sweet 8-year-old girl has the most adorable white eyebrows and an even sweeter personality. Essie doesn’t ask for much—just a person to love, a cozy spot on the couch, a sunny patch of grass, and someone who enjoys having a devoted companion by their side. She is the definition of a snuggle buddy and will happily remind you that life is simply better together.

Essie loves her walks, gets the cutest burst of excitement when it’s time to go, enjoys a game of chase, and is always ready to settle in for a relaxing evening with her favorite people. She bonds deeply with those she loves and is happiest when she knows she’s part of the family.

She’s currently living peacefully with two Springer Spaniels and a Golden Retriever in her foster home and enjoys their company. However, she’d do best in a home without small dogs or cats.

Essie is house-trained, kennel-trained, uses a dog door, and loves riding in the car. Her kennel is her little sanctuary, and she’ll often wander in on her own when she’s ready for a nap or some quiet time.

Essie is looking for an adult home where she can truly relax and be herself. Children have never been her comfort zone, and when her previous family welcomed a new baby, they made the difficult decision to find her a home better suited to her needs. It wasn’t because she wasn’t loved—it was because they wanted what was best for everyone, especially Essie.

She does experience some anxiety during trips to the veterinarian and groomer, but with a little calming medication and a patient, understanding person, she does just fine. She’s up to date on her vaccinations, heartworm negative, and on monthly heartworm prevention.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will happily be your shadow and your favorite cuddle buddy, Essie Ro may be the perfect match. She’s ready to find a home where she can enjoy the simple pleasures in life—and spend them with someone who loves her as much as she’ll love them.

Special note to all out-of-state applicants:   Please ask your State Coordinator to forward your approved Adoption Application to the contact listed.  Also note that all out-of-state adopters must come to Texas/Oklahoma to retrieve their dog.  Transports via ESRA to other states is not available and will not be offered.  Dogs will not be allowed to fly in the cargo area of a commercial aircraft.  Smaller dogs that meet the weight and size restrictions for in-cabin flight will be allowed to travel in the main cabin area under the front seat of their adopter in an approved carrier following FAA and airline regulations.  Cost of canine airline travel will be the responsibility of the adopting family.
