Colby Jack has a handsome spotted liver-and-white coat that inspired his name, and his Wisconsin foster family says he’s even better than cheese! He is affectionate and easygoing.

Colby is well behaved and eager to please his foster family. He does not bark, counter surf or get into the trash. Colby is an amazing traveler and simply sleeps the miles away. He loves the outdoors, including walking in the neighborhood, bike paths and hiking in the woods. He does not interact with other dogs on walks, even when they bark at him, and is continuing to improve his leash skills. Colby is not a high-energy Springer, as his general demeanor is very relaxed. Colby can be a bit shy in new situations and does not like being handled at the vet or groomer. He needs a household that has time, patience, and understanding to build confidence and trust. Because he can be sensitive to certain areas of his body being touched without warning, we think an adult-only home, or a home with older, respectful children would be best.

This sweet Springer knows the basic commands of Sit, Down, Come, and Kennel Up. He is easily redirected and listens well to what his foster family asks him to do. He loves to play fetch and will bring along his glow-in-the-dark ball for late-night games.

He absolutely adores people and will happily follow you from room to room, always eager to be part of whatever you’re doing, while gently nudging for attention. He is also independent and can entertain himself when he is in his crate, kennel or outside. Colby enjoys meeting new people, is friendly, and greets them politely. He gets along well with both large and small dogs, as well as the resident cat.

Colby shows strong natural hunting instincts and a keen interest in birds and wildlife, making him a great candidate for upland game hunting.
