Meet Charlie!
If joy had four paws and a constantly wagging tail, it would be Charlie. This happy-go-lucky boy wakes up ready to celebrate the day and keeps that same bouncy, lovable energy from morning to night. He’s a clumsy, adorable puppy at heart who bounds through life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a whole lot of love to give.
Charlie is the kind of dog who wants to be part of everything you do. He’s a true Velcro Springer who loves being close to his people—so close, in fact, that he may sit right on your feet or lean against you just to make sure he doesn’t miss a thing. His very favorite place is laying on your lap on the couch. If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick who will happily follow you from room to room, Charlie is your guy.
This sweet boy is smart and eager, and he’s already learned Sit and Come. He responds well to his name. He’s still working on the rest of his puppy manners, including jumping up when he gets excited, walking nicely on leash, and learning more commands. Charlie will need continued leash training. He is an extremely strong puller and can lunge when he becomes overly excited, so his future family should be prepared to continue the training we’ve already started. With patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, he’s making progress and has all the potential to become a wonderful walking companion. Because Charlie’s excitement can sometimes overflow, he’d likely do best in a home with adults and older children who can help guide him with patience and consistency.
Charlie is crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night in his kennel, though he may first suggest that the bed would be a much better sleeping spot! He will get in the kennel on his own if you go near and motion/say “kennel.”
When it comes to fun, Charlie is all in. He loves to run, explore, sniff, and investigate the world around him. If he spots a critter outside, don’t be surprised if he remembers exactly where he saw it and checks back later to see if it has returned. A large, fenced yard would be a dream come true for this active boy, giving him space to stretch his legs and satisfy his curious nature. He also loves fetch and is great at retrieving and releasing toys, which makes playtime with Charlie especially fun.
Charlie is playful and submissive with other dogs. He could thrive as an only dog, soaking up all the attention for himself, but he could also do well with a canine playmate(s) who enjoys romping and companionship. He currently lives with 2 other dogs and seems to love the company of all other dogs. Charlie has also been around outdoor cats. He was very curious and excited to see them but did not display any aggression. Because of his enthusiasm, slow introductions and continued supervision would be recommended if he were to live with cats.
Charlie is potty trained. Because he loves being active and drinks water quickly after playtime, he does need frequent potty breaks. He can hold it well in his crate, but after outdoor fun and a big drink, he’ll need to head back outside fairly soon to avoid accidents. A home where someone is around more often than not would really help him succeed.
Charlie is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and on monthly prevention—ready and waiting for the family who will fall in love with his big heart, silly charm, and joyful spirit.
If you’re searching for a loving, energetic, always-happy companion who will keep you smiling and never let you feel alone, Charlie may be the perfect match. He’s ready to bring laughter, adventure, and unconditional love to his Forever Home.
