UPDATE:
Bubbles is still waiting for her Forever Home! She has been spayed and fully vetted. She’s such a smart girl. She would love someone to do an activity like agility or obedience competition!
Puppies! Puppies! Puppies! These precious babies are “sweet as candy!” ESRA took in two litters of puppies from west Texas, and they are now ready for adoption. We want to thank our amazing volunteers who stepped up to foster these puppies with short notice from an urgent situation. And we want to thank our amazing vet and her staff who stayed open late to examine and vaccinate all the puppies. It was a very long day for everyone!
The first litter of puppies was born 4/22/24 and they are purebred Springers. Their dam is black/white and the sire is liver/white. The second litter was born the very next day, 4/23/24. They have the same sire, but the dam for this litter is a black/tan Shiba Inu. The Shiba Inu is smaller than a Springer and originated in Japan. They are muscular, agile and athletic. They tend to be more independent that Springers, but since this litter carries genes from both breeds we aren’t sure what to expect. We do know they are adorable and very intelligent!
Bubbles is a very quiet puppy with the cutest little curly tail. She loves ice cubes, sticks and belly rubs. Bubbles is a very smart and athletic girl. She would make a great doggy sports companion. She has learned “Sit” and “Touch” and is working on “Here”, “Spin”, and leash walking. As far as house training goes, she hasn’t had any accidents in the house yet. Bubbles received a clean bill of health from our vet. She has been dewormed, received age-appropriate vaccinations and started on heartworm prevention. She’s ready for adoption and will be required to be spayed when old enough. (The cost of spay/neuter will be the responsibility of the adopter. )
When choosing applicants for the puppies, we will be looking for a family who is committed to raising a pup and all that it requires — positive house training, crate training, leash and obedience training, etc. The new family must stay or work at home so the pup doesn’t haven’t to spend long hours alone. The new family must provide plenty of mental stimulation, socialization and daily exercise. We want these pups to mature into the best companions they can be! Are you up for the challenge? Please make sure to complete an online adoption application prior to inquiring about the puppies. As you can imagine, we will be very busy reviewing applications and we appreciate your patience.
Special note to all out-of-state applicants: Please ask your State Coordinator to forward your approved Adoption Application to the contact listed. Also note that all out-of-state adopters must come to Florida to retrieve their dog. Transports via ESRA to other states is not available and will not be offered. Dogs will not be allowed to fly in the cargo area of a commercial aircraft. Smaller dogs that meet the weight and size restrictions for in-cabin flight will be allowed to travel in the main cabin area under the front seat of their adopter in an approved carrier following FAA and airline regulations. Cost of canine airline travel will be the responsibility of the adopting family.
