Playing “Benny Ball”

Fun in the Snow!

Meet Benny, who has been called the Best of Both Worlds! If you’re looking for a companion who is equal parts “action hero” and “professional snuggler,” that’s our guy! This four-month-old English Springer Spaniel is a classic tri-color beauty with a heart of gold and a tail that never stops wagging. His foster family describe him as playful, affectionate, and observant.

Benny is a champion of the “fetch and repeat” game, meaning that he has already mastered the art of bringing his ball or toy right back to you for another toss. He’s got that signature Springer energy, but once the toys are put away, he transforms into a total “chill guy.” There is nothing he loves more than being scooped up for a snuggle session — once he’s done playing!

Our boy can be a little cautious when meeting new people, and his fosters notice that he prefers to take things a bit slow with introductions and go at his own pace. But once he knows you’re a friend, he’s all in!

Friends: Benny’s doing great with his 9-year-old Springer foster uncle. He’d likely love a confident, calm dog mentor in his forever home to show him the ropes.

Skills: We are currently practicing Sit, Stay, and some leash walking. He’s a smart cookie, but remember—Benny’s still very much a puppy and will need to continue with training and socialization!

Potty Training: We’re currently in the “solid surfaces” phase of potty training. Benny is making great progress, but he will need a patient family to help him cross the finish line.

This boy is dream in his kennel! He keeps his space clean and handles the workday like a pro as long as he has a nice mid-day break. He currently enjoys a routine that includes

• Plenty of exercise and mental stimulation before and after the workday.
• A clean kennel during work hours
• A midday break for playtime zoomies and potty time

Benny would thrive in a household that understands the Springer Spaniel temperament. He needs a family willing to continue his socialization and provide the exercise his breed loves. A patient “slow hello” with new people will go a long way toward building his confidence. Benny is waiting patiently for his Forever Home, so if you think that this adorable guy might be your new best friend, please file and online Adoption Application and the contact Benny’s case manager via the form below. This charmer can’t wait to meet you!

Notes about Puppy Adoption: Because he is so young, Benny will be placed on a spay/neuter contract. This means that in addition to the regular adoption fee, a monetary deposit will be required, and it will be refundable when proof of neuter is supplied to ESRA.

We do not place puppies as presents or surprises. The entire prospective adopting family needs to meet Benny before the decision is made. Also, please remember that puppies require a lot of care, attention, and training, and they do chew on things. The decision to get a puppy and raise him to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment.
