Meet our new boy Wonka! He is a joy to his foster parents who have enjoyed his easy-going nature. He just loves, loves spending time with his family and foster sister. His walks are so exciting for him.
Wonka also loves riding in the car. He is a good passenger and rides well in a crate. He is housetrained. Doggy manners? Wonka needs some refinement and is responding well to training from the foster family.
Prior to ESRA, Wonka didn’t get much attention. He was often wandering by himself and left outside. He ended up in the local shelter on more than one occasion. As a result, he is not thrilled about going outside in the dark and doesn’t like to be left outside by himself. We expect the reluctance may improve as he starts to trust that he will receive the care he needs and deserves. He is not ready for off-leash walking at this time.
Wonka has a message for you:
I am a friendly gentle giant. I love to meet people and dogs wherever I go. I haven’t had much training, but I am really smart and so willing to learn. Do you have squeaky toys? I’ll share mine and take good care of yours, too. I love to walk and chase bunnies, but I get excited and pull on the leash. I have to ask my new family for patience as I learn to walk like a gentleman. I will give a lot of love and snuggling in return!
Wonka will do best with an active, fit adopter who is able to handle him safely on walks. He is a big boy who has a slight preference for men. Leash training is a must for our boy. We believe Wonka would do best with an experienced adult adopter who understands leash training and has the strength to help Wonka as he learns leash manners.
If you think you are the right family for Wonka, please submit an Online Adoption Application. It is always the first step in our adoption process.
