We are happy to introduce Big Red! This sweetheart of a boy came to us from a shelter, so we know little about his past. We do know that at some point in time, someone was not very kind to him. Because of this, Red can occasionally be leery until he realizes that he won’t be hurt. He warmed up quickly to his foster family and has been a picture-perfect foster. Red is a sensitive boy who lives for cuddles and wants nothing more than to be with his people. He is also very smart. He has learned some basic commands such as Sit, Down, and Stay. His leash skills are improving as well. Red is very strong and does still pull while on leash, so in order to be the best dog he can be, basic obedience classes will be a must for Red and his new family. These classes will help him create a bond with his people and will set guidelines and expectations.
Red gets along with other dogs and has done well in his foster home with the resident canines. He is timid and just sort of keeps to himself. He will lie close to his foster siblings, but he doesn’t interact too much with them. Red would also be fine as an only dog in his Forever Home. He is a typical Velcro Springer who loves to be where his family is. He is a forty-five-pound lap dog! Red does not know his own size and strength. Because of this, we feel that he would do best in a home without young children. He does not like to be alone for long, so a living situation with someone who is home most of the time and a family who will take him with them on outings would be ideal. He enjoys exercising every day. Red currently goes to work with his foster family, and he has been the perfect work/office companion. He has also shown signs that he could excel at therapy training.
This gorgeous boy had his ears shaved down at the shelter because they were heavily matted and full of burrs, but they should soon grow back handsomely. Red is housetrained and up to date with his shots. He is heartworm negative and is on monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention. Anyone interested in adopting Red must realize that in order for him to become a wonderful family member, it is absolutely necessary to include him in all phases of the family’s life. Red will enjoy any and all activities as long as his family is near him. If you have the time to devote to loving Red and room in your heart and home for a sweet, affectionate Springer, please have an adoption application on file before inquiring.
Please note that an approved application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog’s case manager.
