Charming and enchanting Lenny is brimming with cuteness and overflowing with spirit. He is a true Velcro pup who adores his people and considers every day an exciting new adventure with them. Lenny was lovingly surrendered to ESRA by his former owners because they did not have the time to help him grow into a good canine citizen.

Now that he is settled into the routine of his foster home, Lenny is receiving plenty of gentle leadership and proper guidance. As a typical young Springer, this boy craves daily exercise and mental stimulation to keep him satisfied and content. Lenny had no prior obedience training, so his foster mom describes this little guy as a work in progress. He responds best to soft discipline while he is learning leash etiquette and basic commands. Lenny will require a Forever Family committed to providing the instruction that he previously lacked and currently needs. Smart and eager to please his humans, Lenny would benefit from obedience and behavioral training.

This playful fellow enjoys plush toys, Nylabones, and playing fetch with a tennis ball inside or outdoors. With a classic and curious prey drive, Lenny is birdy at the feeder. He loves to wander and explore outside, so he would appreciate a fenced yard at his Forever Home!

Housetrained and mannerly indoors, Lenny is only crated when his foster family is away, but they have not left him there for more than five hours at a time. While Lenny will occasionally try to sit on his foster mom’s lap, he usually does not get on furniture but rather likes to lie on his doggy bed. Normally calm and polite, he will vocalize when he wants something.

Since Lenny was not socialized with other canines prior to arriving at his foster home, he is now learning how to interact appropriately with his peers and understand his place in the pack. Lenny would be most comfortable and happy as an only dog in his Forever Home. He would not be a good fit in a household with children, as he excitedly jumps on them and delights in taking food from their hands. Inquisitive and prey-driven Lenny is not a match for a home with cats, either.

Neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations, Lenny behaves well for the vet and rides nicely in the car. If he is not crated in the vehicle, he lies down quietly; if crated, he is vocal for five to ten minutes before settling. Lenny is an affectionate, sweet-natured pup who will be a great addition to a Forever Family suited to his needs. His new folks must be dedicated to taking the necessary time and making the concerted efforts to train, exercise, and socialize this adorable puppy.
