Springers for SeniorsWe are pleased to introduce our newest bonded pair, Katie and Louie. These wonderful Springers had their world turned upside down recently when their owner needed to move and was unable to take them with her. Louie and Katie have always been together, and they will need to stay together when they are adopted.

Read about the special connection shared by a bonded pair.

Louie is just a big love who will sit by his foster mom and stare adoringly at her all the time. He is definitely a Velcro Springer who attaches himself more to women than to men. Of course, he will never turn down a cuddle from Foster Dad, but Foster Mom rocks! Louie has great manners both inside and outside, and he knows all the basic commands. This mellow gentleman loves to sniff his way around the yard. Louie greets all visitors with a wiggle butt and a huge Springer smile!

Katie is very outgoing, and she loves to follow her foster dad wherever he goes. While she loves both her foster parents, she is devoted to the man of the house. Besides hanging out with Foster Dad, her favorite time is when she's out hunting for lizards and bird watching. Katie greets everyone with a wagging tail and a toy in her mouth. She has very good manners and knows all the basic commands.

At their foster home, Katie and Louie settled in comfortably right from the start. They sleep together every night on their dog beds, and if one gets up the other follows. They are housetrained, and they use the doggie door. This pair gets along with all the resident Springers. They are easygoing, and they don’t mind grooming or vet visits. Both dogs are vocal -- Louie is a master yodeler, and Katie likes to say "I love you" or "I want" when she's offered a treat.

These dogs are not child tested, and we prefer that they do not go to a home with young children. We feel that the ideal home for Louie and Katie would be with an active retired couple who would enjoy a couple of loving companions when going for walks, working in the yard, or just relaxing in the house.

Both Katie and Louie will thrive in a Forever Home where they will have the complete attention of their new family and where someone will be around most of the time. Their new Forever Family will need a strong commitment to include these wonderful Springers in every aspect of the family's life. Katie and Louie will enjoy going for walks, running errands with you, playing and sniffing in a secure backyard, and sleeping in the bedroom with you at night.

Katie and Louie have recently been fully vetted. They had complete dental exams, are up to date on all vaccinations, have tested negative for heartworms, and have been microchipped for safekeeping. Both of these great seniors are currently taking joint medication along with a mild pain reliever for normal age-related arthritis. Louie also takes an inexpensive thyroid medication twice a day. As with most of our seniors, there is some vision and hearing loss, but that doesn't prevent either of them from sharing love and affection with their people.

Are you ready to double your daily quota of Springer love? If so, please have an approved adoption application on file, and contact Katie and Louie’s case manager for more information. Please note that an approved application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog’s foster home.

Please submit an Online Adoption Application. It is always the first step in our adoption process.
