Miss Casey is a sparkling, vivacious pretty little girl with some sass on the side! This girl is high energy and likes to go, go GO!
She is curious and likes to be involved with whatever is going on in her world. She loves her chew bones and rope toys. She does quite well off leash while in an enclosed open space, comes when she is called and stays close to her people. Casey’s leash skills are improving and she does not dig, bark or counter surf. She is house and doggy door trained. She is happy to use her crate as a comfortable place for rest. Casey rides well in the car.
When Casey first came into foster care, it seems her previous people did not spend the needed time with her providing her a chance to learn social skills, basic obedience, impulse control and house manners. With time, patience and compassion, we now see a bright and eager student who learns some things very quickly while others need a bit more repetition – as is true for most people, too. Casey would continue to blossom with ongoing training allowing her time with her family while learning. This would do wonders for her self-confidence as well.
Although Casey enjoys play with dogs, she is still learning how to play politely and respectfully with them. She has done fairly well with a couple of the other dogs in her foster home, but can be snappish and intense in her play. Casey is learning to be respectful of boundaries for both humans and other dogs. Her foster family has enjoyed seeing this brave, curious, energetic girl start to become an awesome dog. Oh, and by the way, she is adorable!
Casey would do best with an active family that can provide her with a lot of running room. She would do well with adults or older children, and should be an only dog. She truly needs and deserves to be the reigning and only princess in her castle. Her Forever Family will need to be willing to provide training to help her interact and play appropriately. Cats are an unknown.
Special note: If you live outside of the state of Colorado and can help with travel (or if you currently live in-state as well), Casey's foster family is happy to split the travel distance with you. If you feel Casey is just what your family needs and would like to learn more about her, please contact her coordinator and be sure to fill out an adoption application (link provided below).
Please submit an Online Adoption Application if you are interested in Casey. It is always the first step in our adoption process.
