Meet beautiful Birdie -- the girl with a face that will melt your heart!

After a difficult decision, Birdie was surrendered by her lifelong family before their third child was born. Since a pup, Birdie has been skittish and anxious with too much activity and loud noises. While Birdie is wonderful with the children, the chaos keeps her on constant edge, always pacing. Her family would like Birdie to be in a peaceful environment where she can get all the love and attention she needs and plenty of daily exercise -- all of which will make her a much happier girl. Birdie deserves to be happy.

Birdie is truly darling and oh so loving and gentle. She will shower you with affection and wet Springer kisses.

She loves the great outdoors -- running, hiking, chasing squirrels and swimming. Her name is fitting. She grew up near the ocean where she found endless joy venturing out and bounding in the waves. Birdie loves to fetch her toy ducks, enjoys her bones, but will quickly shred her stuffed toys. Birdie fares well with smaller dogs. She's fine with larger dogs as well, but will not back down if aggressive toward her. She has lovely house manners, albeit being a classic Springer counter surfer! Birdie is house trained, crate trained, and responds to basic commands. She does fine in the car but finds comfort on the floorboard. While Birdie tolerates being left alone, we would prefer her adopter to be a stay- or work-at-home family.

Birdie will turn 8 years old in March 2019. She's in great health other than being about 7 to 10 pounds overweight. She's current on her vaccinations, tested negative for heartworm, takes monthly heartworm prevention and is microchipped. She has just had a full senior panel, a dental and a small cyst on her back removed.

Birdie would love a home in a quieter setting -- perhaps in a more rural area sans all the scary sounds of the city. She would love room to run and/or hike alongside someone and enjoy the opportunity to swim. She did go through hunting training as a pup, so she would surely enjoy accompanying you on a hunting excursion on occasion if given the opportunity. She would be happiest with a family who is able to spend lots of time with her.

Can you give Birdie the home she longs for -- one where she will be forever cherished and find peace and contentment? If so, please submit an Online Adoption Application if you are interested in Birdie and contact her Case Manager. It is always the first step in our adoption process.
