Meet Barkley, an energetic young boy whose love of running and jumping (and mud puddles!) would make him an ideal member of an active family. He would love to find a Forever Home with a large, securely fenced outdoor area for him to run and play in.
Barkley lacked basic obedience skills when he arrived at his foster home, but this smart boy has already learned some fundamental commands such as Sit and Stay/Wait. His leash skills have greatly improved as well. However, in order to make him the best boy he can be, basic obedience classes will be a must for Barkley and his new family. These classes will help create a bond between him and his people and will set guidelines and expectations as well.
This handsome guy gets along fine with other dogs, and he has done pretty well in his foster home with the resident canine. But because Barkley is a timid soul who would enjoy a little more of his humans' undivided attention, we feel that he would do best in a home where he can be the only dog. While Barkley has learned (mostly) not to chase the foster family's cats, he does view cats as chase toys, so a home without felines will be best for him.
Speaking of home, Barkley is a typical Velcro Springer who loves to be where his family is. He does not like to be alone for long, so a household where someone is home most of the time, along with a family who will take him with them on outings, would be ideal. He particularly loves car rides! Something in Barkley’s past now causes him to get scared when he hears loud or angry voices, so a loving, positive environment is also a must for him. He will bark at vehicles he hears outside. Barkley also barks at strangers until he gets familiar with them. Once he is comfortable, however, his loving personality comes out.
Barkley is housetrained and up to date with his shots. He is heartworm negative and is on monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention. Anyone interested in adopting Barkley must realize that in order for him to become a wonderful forever friend, it is absolutely necessary to include him in all phases of the family’s life. Barkley will enjoy any and all activities as long as his people are near him.
If you have the time to devote to loving Barkley and room in your heart and family for a loving, adorable Springer, please submit an online Adoption Application before inquiring. Please note that an approved application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog’s case manager.
