- Liver & white
Although she’s just a little more than a year old, Annie Mae has bounced around from home to home. First, she was a failed Christmas gift. Then her second owners turned her over to rescue because she was too active for their family and was jumping up on everyone to seek attention. In truth, she was probably lonely because she lived outdoors instead of inside with the people. Unfortunately, she was also heartworm positive.
In foster care, Annie Mae is a social butterfly who loves humans and other dogs and is always looking for a playmate. Her foster dad describes her as “fun loving, playful, social, inquisitive and full of fun!” She does love to run and play in a fenced yard but she also loves hanging out indoors.
She is young and needs to learn to keep all four paws on the floor and to walk nicely on her leash. But she is smart, eager to please and willing to learn. She crates nicely, sits on command and makes friends easily.
She is good with children but will jump up to greet them. She might be too much for toddlers but would be a nice companion for a family with school-aged children. Annie Mae would also enjoy having another playful dog in the family.
This pretty girl has a mostly solid brown coat – except for some white on her chest and front feet -- and a full flag of a tail. She is on the small side for a Springer and possibly has some Boykin Spaniel or Cocker Spaniel somewhere in her lineage. Whatever her pedigree, she is sweet and loving and ready to find her Forever Home.
Note: Annie Mae is just beginning her heartworm treatment, which includes two series of shots and restricted activity. We expect her to be ready to go to a Forever Home in mid-March.
