Meet Tracy. The sweetest little bundle of love to ever bounce around on three legs! Yes, you heard me correctly, when Tracy counts her appendages she only counts to three. So if her friendly, affectionate disposition, and her darling little face did not make her special enough, this little lady is extra unique because she will soon be a 3-legged girl. Before you read any further, please be assured that Tracy is not going to slow down ONE BIT due to her missing leg, and can lead a long, healthy and fully active life (as the former mom of a wonderful "tripod" pup, I just had to chime in here!). You would never guess from Tracy's cheerful, tail-wagging, personality that she had quite a rough start in life. One year ago, when Tracy was just a 6-month old puppy, she was found by the side of the road with a badly injured leg. She had apparently been hit by a car, and had no tags, so she had to take that sad trip to a local shelter. Unfortunately, the shelter had no resources to treat her injuries, which turned out to be nerve damage to her front leg. So Tracy sat there all alone, cute as a button, but over-looked because no one wanted to adopt a lame doggie. When Tracy was spotted by an ESRA volunteer, her bad luck changed forever. Tracy was "sprung" from the shelter, fostered by ESRA, and numerous wonderful donors raised funds to get her the best treatment possible for her leg. Tracy was adopted and her new dad also continued with treatments to encourage the nerves in her leg to regenerate. However, despite a year's worth of good care and treatment, the nerves have never healed enough to allow Tracy's leg to fully recover, and it now appears that she will have to lose the leg. Sadly, Tracy's adoptive family can no longer keep her, so now she is once again looking for her Forever Home. She will remain with her current family, who have provided her with excellent care and training, until she has recovered from the amputation of her leg and her perfect new family is located. But Tracy says, "Enough about my silly missing leg already! There's much more important stuff to tell about cute little 'ol me"! And she's right... if you are looking for a young, playful, friendly, gentle sweetie who will be a wonderful friend for life, look no further! Along with her charming, friendly personality, Tracy comes with the added bonus of being already house trained and past the puppy destructive phase. Tracy is estimated to be 18 months old at this time. She is very healthy, and gets along well with anyone and anything. Dogs (especially if they might want to PLAY!), children, adults; she's not terribly picky. If you want to know the truth, she just LOVES attention! Tracy is not an excessive barker, and is not destructive in the house, even when left alone (pretty amazing for such a youngster!). Tracy might enjoy another doggie companion, but she also does fine on her own. She is a smart girl and has learned some commands pretty quickly, but would probably enjoy and benefit from an obedience training class since she is so young. Tracy looks primarily like a Springer Spaniel, but she is probably mixed with a smaller breed because she is a little girl (approx. 30 lbs.). If you over-look Tracy because of her "uniqueness", you just might regret it! This little girl is a gem, and tripod dogs are lots of fun - - believe me, it will NOT slow her down one bit, but it might slow you down because you will make lots of new friends (everyone will want to know what happened to your cute little doggie's leg!). Lets all show Tracy that her sweet spirit will not be repaid by any more bad luck or hard times. Here's how you can help: 1. Please sponsor Tracy! Tracy's leg will be amputated soon, and we expect a speedy recovery. But she will do much better if we can raise the funds to take her to a specialist, so she can have the best chance for a fully active life. 2. Most importantly, Tracy is looking for that perfect "forever" family, who will see past her "uniqueness" and appreciate what a wonderful little pup she is. Tracy will not be ready for adoption until she has fully recovered, but inquires are welcome at any time. We are also open to talking to families who would like to foster-to-adopt Tracy.
