Here is our Topper. He is a sweet little guy found in the street on a rainy cold night. A Good Samaritan took him to the shelter. She also called rescue to make sure he was going to be rescued. Topper was found to be blind. The ophthalmologist feels that he has had a traumatic injury to his right eye and a juvenile cataract in his left eye. PRA Progressive Retinal Atrophy, a non-painful hereditary condition that affects both eyes and slowly causes total vision loss, is suspected in Topper. We were told that he will not be able to see again, but will require daily eye drops to keep his eyes comfortable and stop any more damage.

When Topper came into foster care he had an infection from his neuter surgery and just a terrible case of flea dermatitis. All of these conditions are being taken care of by ESRA and he is getting stronger and growing lots of new fur.

Topper is a happy loving dog, who loves to run all over the yard and play! Sometimes, the only thing to slow him down is if he runs into something!

Update, June 24, 2004: Topper has regained his health, and is available for adoption to a special home that is willing to accomodate a very loving dog.
