McKinsey has had several homes in her short 5 years. She came to her foster mom and dad in need of a lot more
than just TLC. It was discovered that she has eight large kidney stones that are going to require surgery to remove. The
vet feels that they are too large to disolve with a special diet alone. When the x-rays were done for the kidney stones we
also found out that she has severe hip problems, along with arthritis, that will eventually require surgery. McKinsey is
taking medicine for her arthritis and it is amazing to see how much it has perked her up. To top it off, McKinsey is about
25 pounds overweight!
This sweet girl loves to play with her ball and snuggle up on the couch with whoever is around. From her loving
disposition you would never know that she was not feeling her best.
Update 03DEC04: McKinsey has had her surgery to remove the stones and is doing
wonderful. There was a total of 12 stones that were removed and they were very large. The vet was amazed because according
to him they must have been very painful. The vet also feels that she will be able to live a comfortable and full life
without surgery on her hips. She continues to take medicine for her arthritis and is doing a good job at shedding some of
her extra weight. We are now starting to see the "true" side of McKinsey and she is such a sweet heart! She is full of so
much love.
