Knocker is a sweet loving boy who was picked up as a stray. He was very thin and matted but has regained most of his weight and is growing a beautiful new coat. Knocker has PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy) and is blind. We are still wondering how someone could lose this sweet blind boy. Knocker is very comfortable with his blindness, he learned his foster home and yard in one day. He runs up and down the stairs with his foster sister and is always first for food. Knocker is up to date on all his shots and is heartworm negative. He is missing his two lower central incisors and has a broken upper incisor. It is unclear if this is from injury, neglect or for some other reason. Knocker is housebroken, has excellent house manners and sleeps all night in his crate. He is learning slmple commands and to walk on a leash. Knocker has separation anxiety. Currently he is very anxious if left alone in the house. His foster home is working on increasing his comfort for being alone in the house or when his foster Mom is gone. Knocker rides well in the car and loves to go for rides. He is able to be left for short times in the car without increasing his anxiety. Knocker gets along well with children and his foster sister, cats are an unknown. Knocker will do best in family with lots of time to devote to increasing his confidence and reducing his anxiety. A single dog home or one with a female would be best. Knocker loves a tummy rub and is happiest when he is with his family.
UPDATE! 3/3/02: I meet Barbara and
Roger Allison today and sent Knocker home with them. I immediately felt
comfortable with them and know that they will provide Knocker with a wonderful
home. They are thrilled to have him and I think it was love a first sight
and smell. He jumped right into the back of their van and never looked
back at me. I, of course, cried. Their previous experience with a blind
springer who also suffered from separation
