Joe's an affectionate boy! He was found as a stray, in a shelter from 8/27 till 9/12, and in our home and hearts ever since. Someone spent a lot of time with this boy; he knows "sit", "stay", "down" and "fetch", walks well on a leash and adores riding in the car! He didn't mind his first bath and brushing in our home, but he'd rather play. He's housebroken; we only kept him in a crate on his first night... he's been fine loose in the house and he loves to curl up with you, preferably on your bed, couch or lap!

Nothing stops Joe from playing with his foster brothers, though he stayed behind our legs until he felt secure with them. Joe needs a home with no cats, his instinct to chase is very strong, though he's never attempted to harm ours...he loves the chase! While we don't know if Joe's ever hunted, he's got a strong "point" and loves to chase squirrels. A fenced yard is in order...Joe has gone over our 4' fence, but came right back when I told him to. We've had Joe in and around festivals, stores and groups of people, including children, he's very comfortable, especially if it means extra attention. Joe shows no defensiveness regarding food; he'll hide special treats so the other dogs, who share their treats, won't take his.

Joe's got a previously broken right rear leg; he's currently got a pin, Two plates and at least seven screws in what would be our calf. Per our vet, he'll require surgery, in about two months, to remove the pin and at least two of the screws. The fracture isn't completely healed, so this can not be done yet. Until that time, we're keeping his leg clean and wrapped, to avoid him licking the scar area. While he's listed is "Special Needs", this should be temporary. According to the vet, Joe should have no long-term effects, following the removal, as there is no joint involvement.

There's some debating if Joe's a Springer or Brittany; either way, he's a wonderfully sweet dog and you'll be so lucky to have him with you. If we had more room, not to mention a larger bed, we'd keep Joe forever!!!
