Meet Chet...truly a miracle dog with a will and
determination to live, and boy does he enjoy life! Chet was rescued from a shelter in Carlsbad, CA with excruitiatingly
painful ear infections, and a swollen face from a combination of the ear infections and an abscessed lump on his chin (lump
has been surgically removed). He had kennel cough, gooey eyes, over 100 matts in his fur, each one with a foxtail(s) inside
it, 20 pounds underweight, an abscessed foxtail under his armpit (surgically removed) and a large mass in his abdomen. Yet,
above all, Chet's wonderful temperament shined through!
The abdominal mass, thought by many to be a malignant tumor (except Chet's guardian angel and a very determined,
philanthropic veterinarian) turned out to be a seven pound benign nodule which was surgically removed in its entirety. The
mass was not cancer but merely a very large benign mass. Chet has rebounded from all of his ailments thanks to ESRA's
committed rehabilitation program and the love and care given by his foster homes. Chet's rehabilitation continues, though,
as we are working to raise the protein level in his blood. He needs to gain weight, and we have discovered that he tends to
leak urine (especially during his nightime sleep) which requires him to be on a very inexpensive, easy-to-give, daily
medication (phenylpropanolamine) which has his condition virtually controlled.
Chet loves people, is fantastic with other dogs, is loving and kind to children, housetrained, lives with cats and ignores
them, loves to shake with his paw, loves walks and loves life. He is constantly wagging his tail. His age is estimated at
10 years old - an energetic but mellow senior.
Interested parties are encouraged to apply to adopt Chet during his recuperation period. He is looking for a very special home because he is a remarkable and special dog. Persons with senior Springer experience will be preferred.
