Meet Bobby, the sweetest 10 month old
black and white Springer you will ever meet.
When Bobby was really young, his bounding enthusiasm got him into trouble. He dashed out of the house, and
was hit by a car. The most unfortunate part of his story is that he was not given any Veterinary care for his injuries.
Bobby came to ESRA with the typical parasites and ear infections (which we are working on), but he also has a severe
injury to his left front leg which is going to require amputation. The muscles are completely atrophied, and he has no
feeling in the leg or foot, as nerve damage was suffered in the accident.

Having a bad leg doesn't stop Bobby from running and playing. He loves to chase his foster sister around the yard, and
the water from the garden hose, oh, what fun! Here he is soaked to the skin and wanting more!

Bobby is learning about toys, and soft beds. As you can see, he loves his naps on the cool hardwood floors! He's 100%
Springer! No fair laughing at his snoring!
Your generous donations will help ESRA give Bobby the medical care he needs. The surgery is going to be very expensive,
and we need your help. Bobby is scheduled to see an Orthopedic Specialist on Wednesday August 9th. We will keep you posted
as to the results of that visit.
Update
8-12-06: Bobby's injured left front leg was removed on Wednesday August 9th. His surgeon told me afterwards that
once he saw all of the scar tissue and internal damage that was done to Bobby's leg, he knows we made the right choice to
do the surgery. He feels Bobby will do very well as a Tripod, and getting rid of the damaged leg was a good thing. Everyone
at Southern California Veterinary Referral Group fell in love with Bobby. He is pictured here with one of the Vet Techs
that took such good care of him.

Bobby is doing very well post-op. He came home
today, but with instructions that he is to remain quiet for the next two weeks. He looks a little "dazed" in the pictures
because is taking several medications to help him with pain and to help sedate him.. The doctor doesn't want him to play
and jump around too soon and pop a stitch.
Our next vet appointment will be in two weeks when we go back to have the stitches and staples removed. We will post
another update then. In the mean time, we thank you for your prayers of support and healing. Bobby is doing very well for
such a little guy that got dealt a 'bad hand' so to speak!
Once Bobby has recovered from his surgery, look for him on our California Available page. He will need a Forever Family
that can give him lots of love and training, as he is still a pup!
Update 23 AUG
06: Today was an exciting day! Bobby went back to Irvine to see all of his friends at Southern California
Veterinary Referral Group. They were so excited to see him and to see how quickly he has healed. The doctor and the vet
techs were thrilled to see how well he has adjusted to being a tri-pod. He has great balance and the staples were removed.
He was one happy dog!
There are a few tender spots that we need to watch, and make sure they heal up nicely. But, the great news is that Bobby is
released from the doctor's care. Now he can play with his foster sister and not worry about pulling a stitch! We have an
appointment to get Bobby bathed and groomed next week, so look for him on the West Available page next week. He's going to
be looking for his Forever Family soon!
Update 09 SEP 06: I'm happy to announce that our Special Needs Bobby has found a
wonderful Forever Family! He now has two small boys to play with and take care of. Of course, they will take care of him,
too!
In a whirl wind of excitement, Bobby's new family arrived
this morning to meet him. After Foster Big Sister Ginger managed to show off and play with Bobby to show everyone how agile
this little Tri-pod is, things calmed down and the boys got to meet Bobby. Nine year old Grady is looking for a new best
friend that he can obedience train and play with. I think it was love at first sight! Grady is very sensitive young man
that watches Animal Planet and worries about animals that are miss-treated, and gets excited about the Happy Ending
Stories. So, it seems like a great fit, that little Bobby, who was miss-treated in his first few months of life, will now
have someone to love and care for him, and give him a real Happy Ending to his story.
This family adopted Domino from ESRA last year. Domino is now deaf and doesn't respond to the boys when they want to play
with him. So, now they have a family of 4 boys; Patrick 6, Grady 9, Domino 8(?) and Bobby 11 months! I'm sure glad that
Mary and Randy are young and capable of handling a family of energetic 4 boys!
I hope we will hear wonderful stories of Bobby as he grows to maturity with his new family!
Ginger and I cried as they drove off down the street and are noticing how very quiet the house is this afternoon!
Good Luck Bobby! We will miss you!
