"Asheni",
pronounced "Ah-sheh-nee". It's Cree Indian for "Angel".
Asheni is the sweetest boy you ever met! He is following me everywhere, and learning about soft beds and frequent meals! I guess he has been on the road awhile.
He was groomed and vetted by Christine, who found Asheni wandering in the streets, and took Asheni to saftey while she searched for his owners. When she called ESRA, Lori Grego found him so sweet she had to act on his behalf.
Asheni is so thin! You can see every bone. He has some medical needs that
have to be addressed. He needs his teeth cleaned and several extractions
with gum repairs. He also has a tumor on his eye lid that needs to be
removed. He has a heart murmur that the doctor feels may get better after
the condition of his teeth and mouth are improved. He needs to gain about
20 pounds and we are treating his low thyroid.
He is going to stay a while at the Pola Spa, and be pampered and fed and loved. By sponsering Asheni you will be allowing ESRA to care for his medical conditions and help him become ready for an adoption with a Forever Family. As his foster mom, I want to thank you all for allowing me the chance to know this beautiful dog.
Rescue truly is another word for love...
Update
11 APR 06: Asheni had his surgeries today, two tumors removed,
one on his eye lid and one on his side. He also had five teeth pulled,
and he was neutered. He is one tired sad pup tonight. I know he will feel
better soon. He weighed 41.4 pounds today before surgery, up from his
weight when he arrived here of 35 pounds.
Update 13 APR 06: Asheni is feeling much better today and is up and walking around with the other dogs. His wounds are looking great and he sure feels better. He had one very rough night, but now he is back to his happy, sweet personality.
Update 27 APR 06: Asheni went to see Dr. Smith today and got his stiches out. Today Asheni weighed 43 pounds! We also found out all the tumors were benign! Woo woo woo!
