Wrigley with her new family

Wrigley's, (the Soldier's Dog) was a particularly rewarding adoption and I felt such pride representing such an outstanding group but I should mention that it wasn't a solo effort. Thanks go to Denise Basten for wading through the apps and finding a wonderful home for Wrigley and thanks also go to Deb Thompson for keeping me on my toes with the paperwork. It's definitely a team effort.

I received a thank you email from Wrigley's old owner who is serving in Iraq. Somebody raised this guy right! I'd be proud to call him my son. His words are touching and I thought you would appreciate them. It just goes to show that not all owner relinquished dogs are given up on a whim or because they're an inconvenience. Diane,

Saturday was a bitter/sweet day for Sally and myself. I received word from Sally and my parents that Wrigley was adopted. I cannot thank you enough for your help with this. As much as it was/is painful to give up my dog, I am confident in your and my parents' judgment of the home that Wrigley is in now.

The Army has asked alot of my family and myself this past year. It has taken me far away from my family, forced me to see and do things that someday I may have to ask forgiveness for, it has caused me to miss out on my children's lives and now it has caused me one of my friends (Wrigley). Don't get me wrong, this country was born from sacrifice and I am happy (honored) to be sacrificing for the good of my country and everything that the US and my flag stands for, but it has paid a heavy price on me.

Wrigley was one of the toughest decisions I had to make and after meeting her I am sure you know why. Once again, I can not begin to express my gratitude to you for helping us with this. It was one less thing that I had/have to worry about now. I can get my head back into the fight and get this over with. I have until February (I hope) and then will be home.
