HAPPY ENDINGS!

THUMPER
(Formerly Brandy)

Here is my new baby Thumper--a thirteen-year-old with the heart of a puppy and the sweetest disposition imaginable.  His adventure started as a nightmare--left at a southern San Diego Animal Shelter because of severe hip dysplasia.  His coat was long and unkempt, and was so sun bleached he looked orange!

His plight was reported on the ESRA website through the efforts of Susan Schulte whose work for springer rescue appears to be endless, tireless, and simply amazing! At first, when I drove the 90 miles to the shelter, Cindy ( a wonderful animal rescue activist) was doubtful about me adopting him, after all,
poor Brandy (as he was then known) couldn't walk more than a few steps without falling down.  But she gave me a chance and wow! What a dog!

Our first visit was to the groomer's, the vet being busy.  That long orange fur coat was shaved down almost to the skin to reveal the beautiful dog underneath.  Next stop was the vets, an exam that showed little wrong except a few benign skin tumors, the aforementioned hip dysplasia, and hypothyroidism.  With the help of a new medication, Thumper (renamed because of his distinctive clatter-clatter-thump whenever he walks across my wood floors) is now running, playing, and spinning like a whirligig whenever he gets excited.

My other springer Jake and he get along well, and even though Jake too is thirteen, he has proven he's not too old to learn new tricks, for whenever Thumper spins and twirls, so does Jake!  They make a wonderful pair, and give me lots of love.  Thanks for interceding for Thumper, and making it possible for him to join our family!
