HAPPY ENDINGS!

SUGAR

I got Sugar (Dove) in April when she was a 6-pound pup.  She now weighs between 25 and 30 pounds and is just as silly a puppy as ever!

Over a year ago I fell in love with Springers.  I had my heart set on getting one!  First, I looked at 2 that were in my city, but my family decided 2 big dogs was too much.  When I spotted Oreo and her litter on the website, I saw that the puppies would be ready to leave their mother about the time that my family would be on vacation in California!

So first I had to prove my responsibility for a dog.   Then my mom went onto ESRA's website and put a hold on the puppy I wanted.  I chose Dove, the runt of the litter.

The next month, I was so excited as we drove to Yorba Linda.  I counted the days and hours until "Dovey" would be mine.   When I got her, she was the only foster dog left at her foster mom's house.  I hugged her and renamed her Sugar right away because "she's so sweet and sugary!"

I rode 17 hours home to Colorado in the car with the teething, squirming puppy in my lap.  Sugar didn't even pee once.

She's now trained (well, sort of), and is so devoted and loyal to her family.  She plays with our older dachshund and tries to get the cranky old poodle we have to play.  Another of her favorite pastimes is rearranging furniture.  She pulls apart the dogs' beds and puts them in new places.

She is really really adorable, and also very well-behaved (most of the time).  She is brown and white, and sometimes white will come up on her fur in different places.  It's cute.

Sugar is the best puppy in the world for those reasons, and also because the way she got adopted is I bet the best story in the history of the ESRA.
