We adopted Skipper two weeks ago and will be forever grateful to ESRA for suggesting Skipper to us. Special thanks to June Davis, ESRA Florida coordinator, who arranged Skipper's rescue from a Georgia shelter and to Wendy Iaconetti, a professional breeder who transported Skipper to Tampa and was his foster mom for a week. We feel Skipper was just meant to be with us. We had first contacted Wendy through the Internet to buy a puppy. She had none at the time. While surfing the net for more information about Springer Spaniels, I found the ESRA website. Since we had adopted an older shelter cat last year and were extremely happy about it, we decided to consider the Rescue program for Springers. Originally, we requested a female with a docked tail, who would be good with our toddler grandson and also tolerant of two cats. While June Davis was searching for one for us she mentioned an 8 month old male, Skipper, and asked if a neutered male might be a consideration. Skipper was being transported from Georgia to Tampa, Florida. His foster home would be at Wendy's, the breeder we had first contacted! Just too much coincidence. We knew Skipper was destined to be with us. Skipper is the sweetest dog and a fully loved member of our family. After a few, "NO CATS" commands for a couple of days, he is just fine with the cats. And we couldn't have asked for a gentler dog for a toddler! We just fenced in the yard and love watching him run and jump with ears flapping! He is so affectionate and eager to please. He puts his paws on my lap and leans his head against my chest when he wants some extra hugs and kisses. Just a great dog! Absolutely better than we had even expected! Thank you, ESRA, for the great work you do and especially for Skipper. Connie Sciaretta
