MARLEY - ABUSE CASE IN TEXAS

Marley was rescued from the Galveston County Animal Control in Texas City (south of Houston). He is a 3 to 4 year old male, liver/white, who was abandoned in a house, along with a cat, for a month. Animal Control officers say they survived because they had access to the backyard pool for water. This Springer is sweet and loving in spite of such cruel neglect.

His coat (what was left of it!) was completely matted, he was heartworm positive and had severe skin irritation.

UPDATE 8/13/00: Marley has been in our foster care  program for over two weeks now and is being cared for lovingly   by one of our volunteers who is also a  veterinarian. He began his heartworm treatment and is doing well. His skin is clearing up and his new coat will be gorgeous! Marley is currently residing with our vet in Austin, TX.

We expect him to be ready for his forever home by the end of September.

09/25/2000: Marley, the neglect case who came to us a couple of months ago, has a new forever home! Thanks to the loving care of his foster mom, vet Lisa Schroeder, he was treated for heartworms, mange, and other nasty stuff.

He recovered and was adopted Saturday by a family with 3 school-age daughters and two cats, and a stay-at-home mom here in Houston. Thanks, Dr. Lisa - I know it was hard for you to say goodbye!
