HAPPY ENDINGS!

MAIZE

It's been over a year since I adopted Maize, my 6 (?) year old ESS.  She has become such a wonderful addition to our family.  She almost didn't stay as I fostered her for several weeks and then felt that her care was too much with my stressful job.  My husband and I let her go to another family for the weekend, and we were so grieved that he called Barbara Welty, GA coordinator, and pleaded with her to help us get Maize back.  It turned out that Maize wanted to be in a one-dog home, so it was a wonderful day when we drove over to get her back!!!  I found a new job later in the year and I work from home, so Maize loves to lie on the couch in the office or under my feet while I'm working.  She is such a special dog and is loving to everyone she meets.  We did not know her history when we adopted her, but she was completely housebroken, knew commands such as sit, down, and shake, and we found over the time we've had her that she responds to hand signals.

She has two cat sisters who were not thrilled for her to join us at first, but they have established their boundaries and everyone is pretty happy now.  She is the talk of the neighborhood as she has a very regal presence--she literally prances down the street with her head held high.  We were so lucky to find her and want to thank Barbara Welty for all she did to help us adopt Maize!!

Sincerely,
Jeanna Cunningham
