HAPPY ENDINGS!

LUCIE

Hi, my name is Lucie. I was running loose and ended up the the Lancaster, California Shelter. After a couple of days, the shelter people did something called spaying, and when I woke up, my new mom was putting me in a car to go to my new home. We drove for a long time, mom said it was 200 miles. When I got to my new home, I met my new sister and brother. I learn a lot from my sister Hibou (pronounced Ee-boo', it's French for owl). She's Shih-tzu and Poodle and has taught me to talk to mom so she'll know when it's dinnertime. My brother Gizmo is a Shih-tzu and tries to hide all the squeaky toys, but I can still find them. When they don't squeak anymore, mom puts new squeakers in for us. There's a handy thing called a doggy door, and a grassy back yard. I don't like being confined behind a closed door and at first I wanted to get out the front door and run away as fast as I could. But since I've been here almost two months, I wonder why I would ever want to leave! There's good food to eat, and tasty treats called baby carrots. The sunken bathtub has the coldest water in the house and mom lets me drink right from the faucet. I can sleep on the couch or on the big comforter on the bedroom floor. I have a nice vet and a great groomer. There are kids that don't live here but come to visit during the day. Mom says they only come home to do their laundry. I can usually count on them for a belly scratch or a treat. The rest of the time us dogs are on our own because Mom goes to work every day. She says that she has to pay for our kibbles. She says that she only works eight hours per day but by the time she gets home it has been three days in dog time. This is when I get really excited and mom calls me by my other nicknames, Calm Down Lucie, Lay Down Lucie and Move Lucie. Mom says that I need to go to Obedience School so I can learn some manners and then I can go on the leash. Until then, I'm just happy to stay at home, on the couch, in the air conditioning! What a life!

Note from Mom: Thanks for putting Lucie on the springer rescue website. It was love at first sight!
