HAPPY ENDINGS!

KATIE

Hi,

My name is Katie.  That's my new name anyway.  I am the newest addition to the Creek family.  My new Mom and Dad wanted me to tell you a little bit about me and what I did before I came to my new home.

The truth is I don't know a lot about my past.  I am an English Springer Spaniel, which means that I have a close relative in the White House.  I feel good about that.  My new doctor thinks I am about one year old.

The animal control people found me on the street and took me to the Floyd County Animal Shelter in Rome, Georgia.  I was there for three weeks.  Every now and then people would come and look at me but nobody wanted to take me home and I was fast running out of time.  Everybody was nice and I really enjoyed it when they took me for a walk or just stopped to talk to me.  Three weeks in an animal shelter is not good.  I got sick and lost a lot of weight.  One morning a lady came by and took my picture and sent it to the English Springer Spaniel Rescue Society lady in Atlanta.  Pretty soon my new Mom and Dad came and took me home.  First we had to go by the doctor's office for a lot of shots and a bath and some other things.

This is me and Gracie in the back yard

I told you my new name is Katie.  Actually it is Kathryn Ann Elizabeth.  My Mom, my new Sister, and I all have Ann in our names.  My new home is really something.  I have a Mom, a Dad, and a Sister named Gracie.  Gracie is a Yellow Lab.  I came to my new home on May 7th, which is my dad's birthday, and just in time for Mother's Day.  Since we are not sure exactly when I came into this world I will be using May 7th as my birthday just like my Dad.  You may want to make a note of that date.  We have a big fenced-in back yard with grass and trees where Gracie and I can play, but we spend most of the time in the house, and we sleep in the bed just like people.  I haven't had a lot of dog training but I come when I am called and I walk well on a leash.  I was house broken before but I have made a couple of mistakes.  I know that outside is the place to go, I think I just don't know how to ask.  When we ride in the car, I normally don't look out the window, I just snuggle up against my Mom or Dad.

Here I am taking a little nap.  This is where I usually sleep but I don't normally have the whole bed to myself.  Ma covered me up like this.  She calls me her pumpkin.

In the next week or so, I will just be resting and trying to recover from my ordeal.  I only weigh 23 pounds and I have a really bad cough.  I had hook worms but the doctor took care of that.  I should weigh about 30 or 35 pounds.  As soon as I get well from my cold and gain a few pounds, my Mom and Dad said I can be fixed.  It will be good to get all that behind me.  As soon as I can, I will be taking some dog lessons too.  Anyway, I am really happy in my new home with my new family.

You know, the English Springer Spaniel Rescue Society saved my life.  I had less than a week to live when they found out about me.  My Mom and Dad had been waiting for about a month to adopt a girl like me.  They think I am really special.  I want to thank the nice lady in Rome who came to see me and sent my picture to the Rescue Society and to the people who took care of me in the animal shelter, and I really want to thank the rescue lady in Atlanta who helped me find my new Mom and Dad.  My Mom and Dad do too.

Thanks to everyone.

 Love,

 Katie
