HAPPY ENDINGS!

MARY KATE

Kate

We almost missed getting Kate...

A lovely young couple from Austin had beat me to her! They picked her up on a Friday and there I was in Central Market in SA that Sunday and I got a call from Beth Maryan in Dallas. Kate on guardThe couple's Chow/Lab young male was being pretty rough on her and they were hesitant about leaving her while working. I stammered around for a minute or so and then took my groceries home, filled up the car with gas and met the couple at Cabela's in Buda.

Oh what a gentle soul! She had a tough "other" life and when she was picked up by ESRA, she was covered with fleas and her ears were so infected they looked like they had mud in them.

How this sweet thing got into the rescue loop beats me! Lucky us! She's in her "forever" home with her sister (a young chocolate & white Cockapoo) named Demi deCutie her cat, Hey Dude! She is a joy!

She has her place at the back patio door where she can slip out the dog door to run off the riff-raff. She's like my other Springers...she hasn't figured out how to keep the dog door from slapping closed allowing the trespassers to escape. She did, however, catch a big fat dove...she is a bird dog, after all.

Anyway, I am grateful especially to Beth Maryan in Dallas and the whole ESRA organization. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the young couple from Austin who recognized trouble and took steps to avert it.

Thanks,
Barbara Sanders
