Freckles was rescued from the pound in Houston and adopted from ERSA in 1998. When I first saw him he was scared and confused. He was dropped off at the pound with no reason given. We were looking for a friend for our female Springer "Brownie" and Freckles was the perfect match. He was larger and older than Brownie but he had the soul of a gentle giant. We bonded from day one and he always followed me wherever I went, he was my shadow. He had a big deep male voice that he would use to let you know he was our protector and friend. Brownie thought he was her big baby, she would lick his face like he was a puppy. They showed pure love for each other and were never apart until now. They would play chase each day with Freckles always tripping over his big feet trying to catch Brownie. She was just to quick and springy. We don't know how he was treated his first 3 or 4 years but he was loved and cherished in his last 6 years he lived with us. Cancer took him away from us as quickly as he came into our life. He showed no outward signs of illness and just got to weak to get up and was sent to the Rainbow Bridge after test showed his cancer had spread all over his body. Freckles was my big boy and Brownies companion. He will be remembered and LOVED by us all and I thank all the wonderful people from ERSA that made Freckles a member of our family. His passing has left a hole as big as our lives LOVE for him. We miss you
big boy!
