FLETCHER

Fletcher with his sister and brother, Hannah and Sam

Words cannot express the gift that has been given to us in the form of a rescued and fostered dog named Fletcher. We had helped our beloved ESS and my best friend, Emmy, cross the Rainbow Bridge in July after helping her litter-mate brother Bob a year and a half earlier. After a few months, we wanted to share our lives with another dog. I didn’t think I could bear another Springer because we loved our twins so much, but we knew that we wanted an older dog that needed a home. I was drawn to the ESRA website and met the Texas ladies (who are amazing!) at a dog fair. Nancy, Fetch’s foster Mom, had a gut feeling that we were meant to be together. We couldn’t possibly convey to her enough that her intuition is flawless and how grateful and thrilled we are that she thought WE were worthy of this unbelievable joy that she has allowed in our lives.

Fletcher-we call him Fletch-has fit into our lives almost seamlessly. He was a little anxious at first, but within a few days he has conformed to us as if he’s always been here. Our kids, 12 and 10, love him and my husband goes on long walks with him at least every other day. Even my husband contributes to the babyfication of Fletch as he is now the youngest member of our household, so he IS the baby. He is obedient unless you need him to come in the house because he can sit for hours outside watching for squirrels and birds. He was obviously sent to me especially because he embodies patience!! He is also the sweetest and most tolerant dog on the planet. We now have come to believe that, although we love puppies, an adult dog is so much easier; we didn’t have to housetrain Fletch and he chews only what he is supposed to chew! We love him so very, very much and we will treasure every day that he gets to spend with us. Thank you Marie, Sherie, and Nancy. The service you provide helps so many animals have another chance and it gives families like us joy that is so great and so deep that it is humbling.

We love you Fletch! You are the best boy in the whole world!
