HAPPY ENDINGS!

CHARLIE

Charlie, My Angel

Well, it was a very distressing time for me in February 2002.  My wonderful English Springer Spaniel, Cody was not well.  He had a mass on his spine and he was knuckling as he walked.  I was in tears and knew that we had to do everything we could for him, which was surgery. He made it through the surgery and on an icy night we decided to visit  him.  About 11:30 p.m., I got a call that his vitals had changed.  I became scared and about 30  minutes later I got a call that he had passed.

Since I do not have any children, Cody was my boy.  I cried all day and night.  Then I knew that I needed another dog to fill my loss or I couldn't find happiness.

Somehow, through the tears I found the English Springer Rescue and the first  dog I saw was Charlie, which is my dad's name and my nephew's name.  My heart raced and I knew that dog had to come to me.  My husband and I sent an e-mail, then we got a call that same night for an interview, then we needed to give references.  At 3:30 a.m. I checked my e-mail and we had been approved to adopt Charlie.

Now we had to get him from Manhattan Kansas to Colorado Springs, Colorado.  A transport part way was arranged and my husband brought him home, where I got a big hug and kiss the minute Charlie got out of the truck.

The happiness I feel when he wakes me up with kisses is hard to explain.  He loves to go to my day care class and everyone is so supportive of him.

He is truly a gift from God.
