HAPPY ENDINGS!

BUDDY (SIR WINSTON)

Buddy, Beth and Aidan

We drove a thousand miles for one of his smiles.

This is a photo of Buddy, our recently adopted "special senior". He is so sweet and so loving. Both my husband and I went on the ESRA website looking for a dog to adopt. When we called each other later, it seems we both picked out the same dog - Buddy (Sir Winston). We knew it was Kismet. We drove to Ohio to pick Buddy up and brought him to our home.

The picture was taken about 5 minutes after getting home in front of the fireplace with me and my other fur child, Aidan. When we picked Buddy up, he seemed a bit sad so we were very anxious to start the "spoiling" process. His eyes, a bit cloudy, are now sparking bright and he actually sprints about trying to keep up with his younger brother. He goes for long walks in our neighborhood and rides in the car. He seemed unfamiliar with stairs when we brought him home and I carried him up and down but while we were out of the house, he must have practiced because the next day he was following us up and down like an expert.

The thing I want to stress about adopting a senior springer is that bad habits are a thing of the past. Buddy can't counter surf or jump on furniture and he ignores the trash can. He just wants to be with us, go for walks and get treats, hugs and kisses. It is so much fun looking for ways to make his life wonderful. I don't know what the 12 years were like before we found him but we want to make the remaining years he has left wonderful. We love him so much and he is such a joy.

Thank you ESRA, Judy and Lynnea.
