Hello to everyone, Thought we would drop a line to you to let you know just how well Bella is doing. A little bit of background. Bella was adopted in April 2004 by our family. This was a family who was sorely missing Misty, a springer we had for 15 years and had to have put down. After about a year, I ventured to the ESRA website and started looking around . We had considered getting a puppy from a breeder and then decided that it would be better to give our home to a Springer who was looking for one.I looked for several months, would cry a little at the stories, and think of my best buddy Misty. Then my eye was caught by a little lady named Bella. Can't explain why she tugged at my heart so much , well we all know that it is impossible to not be taken in by big brown eyes, but she caught my heart. I spoke with Lisa Polis after filing in my adoption application, and then arranged to meet with Dawn and her family who were fostering Bella. We drove up to Columbus from the Cincinnati area and brought Murphy our Golden Retriever along to meet Bella too. They hit it off immediately. And we knew we had a perfect fit. I tried not to get my hopes up that we would bring her home that day, but we did. Bella had some problems with submissive wetting. That took a little while to subside, with a few accidents every now and then, but luckily we have had no submissive problems for about 3 months now. Bella of course is the ruler of the roost. Dawn would be able to tell you how Bella loves to wrestle. She and Murphy have big time wrestling every day. Over the summer Murphy had a little scrape on his face, which of course, Bella had to nurse. Although, Bella has some trouble with the cat, Bella just wants to touch her and the cat wants no part of that. Theyhave come to an understanding, if the cat hisses, Bella backs off.
Bella has been learning new tricks. She will sit and give her paws to be wiped off at the door when she comes in from a romp in the yard. She still tugs a little on the leash, but has taken up Murphys lead of bringing you the leash when she feels we need to go for a walk. She sits on command and will lay down and roll over for a treat. Christmas was interesting, she felt the need to remove balls from the tree, so we had to move the more fragile ones to another spot on the tree. And yes, a few presents were unwrapped a little early. Bella also has taken complete responsibility for my daughter Lauren's Old English sheep dog. When they come for a visit, bella makes brutus behave, she is not tolerant of his pushing or herding her around , and verbally corrects him with a woo woo noooo. I just want to say "Thank you" for allowing us to bring Bella into our home. She is a big part of our family. Thanks and WOO WOO WOO to you!
