Here is a reminder of what our hard work is all about. TWO years
ago I placed Bella. She was found at a local shelter here in Santa Monica California and Suzanne, Carolyn and I went to
find her. I took her home and to the vet and placed her locally with a nice family. We have no heartworm in Southern
California and I had argued frequently with Jan that testing for heartworm here was a waste of money. But she insisted so I
always did. SOmehow in my haste at the vet, Bella's heartworm test was never done. After we placed her the new owner called
to say they had her tested and she was positive! They returned her to rescue since they did not want to deal with her
treatment. SO I took care of my first heartworm positive dog.
Marie had to walk me and my vet through the process since he had not taken care of many of these dogs.
So we had bella for three cycles of heartworm medication and when she was well placed her up for adoption. A wonderful
family in Gabberville California saw her on the site and wanted to adopt her. We agreed to meet in Lake Tahoe, about
300-400 miles from their home and about 10 hours from our home. We were camping and they came and joined us for a camping
overnight and stayed two days to meet bella.
Well here is a note from them two years later. Can you tell how excited I am?

Caryn,
I don't know if you remember us but we adopted Bella September of 2001. We finally got the software to email pictures and I
wanted to send you a picture of her so that you would know that she was doing great. (The picture is Bella with
Jasmine)
She has been every bit the girl that I wanted, she is great with the kids and is very patient with our baby boy (born last
March) and CourtneyAnne and Jasmine. She is healthy and happy and very loved.
Thanks so much,
Scott and Angie Weaver
