From
a note to ESRA:
Here
is a article from the North
Carolina Springer Rescue newsletter
about
my pride and joy, Fredo. We know he was abused as a young pup, and had
a broken leg that was not properly taken care of, but with lots of TLC
and glucosamine you would not be able to tell that he is was injured.
He is a remarkable boy who has
the most unique personality of any dog I have ever been around.
A special thanks to ESRA for sending him my way 2 years ago, and for
all that they do for our Springer friends.

Springer Spaniel Rescue News in the Carolinas
With “Thanksgiving” approaching I
wanted to give an update on “Alfredo”….or “Fredo”
for short. It will be our 2 year anniversary the week of Thanksgiving
and he has become one very, very special Springer. He has made the switch
from a “junkyard dog” to a sophisticated house gentleman.
He was put in foster care at the age of 8-9 months and stayed in a body
shop all the time. He had no real training, and had to stay in the shop
alone all night. I had just lost my secon
d
Springer in 2 months (one died in august, 2001 at 17, the second in
October at 13). When I got his picture from ESRA…and it was love
at first sight. He very quickly made himself at home here, as if he
knew this was going to be his “forever home”. I had no clue
to his behavior, but after just a few days I knew that he could be left
alone inside and he would not bother a thing, except his toys. He has
stolen the hearts of many, and is a great example of just how versatile
and adaptable the Springer is. He can play rough house with the guys,
yet, be so very gentle with the young or old. He absolutely adores women
(think he was abused by a male in his childhood). He is my very best
friend, and my priority in life. He is a huge hit at the vet’s
office…and the staff has said they want to be reincarnated as
one of my dogs! He is one very great boy, and is the hit of the neighborhood…almost
should make a take off TV show…..”everybody loves Fredo”.
