HAPPY ENDINGS!

ZAK & MISSI

Missi and Zak

The story of Zak and Missi's entrance into my life starts early summer of 1999.

That was when my precious Flirty (Flirtatious Lady of Bismarck) passed away. She was a beautiful little English Springer Spaniel that has been my friend for over fifteen years. It was also a time when my marriage was breaking up.

I still had my Bucky (00 Buckshot the II) also a English Springer Spaniel. He was also fifteen years old and had some health problems. I thought he had a couple of good years left. Well just before Christmas Bucky passed away.

Just writing this I get tears in my eyes. Christmas found me totally alone. In January a friend from work was at the Vet. Well some people brought in a Christmas puppy for a checkup. Yup you guessed it. It was a English Springer. Well the receptionist said we have to get Suzanne from the back because she loves English Springers. When my friend was talking to Suzanne she told her about me loosing two English Springers last year.

Suzanne gave her a business card from ESRA with her Email address on it. Well I looked at for a weeks or so and decided to check up on it. I never herd of ESRA and didn't know what to expect. I didn't want a puppy and I wanted to wait a while before I got another English Springer (little did I know). Well I gave her what I thought was not possible. I wanted two ESS; a male and a female about the same age.

Don, Missi and Zak at the Parade of Rescue. April 2000.

Guess what? She had rescued a matched pair from the same litter a male and a female. I went to her house armed with pictures of my newly lost Bucky and Flirty. When I got there Zak and Missi must have known what was up.

They came over to me right away plopped down on me. Any resistance I might have had evaporated. I have always had a soft spot for English Springer Spaniels.

I wanted to take all the rescued ESS's. I could go for hours about my previous ones. Zak and Missi are my third pair now. We are having great fun. They help me through some of the stress days I have with their always happy attitude.

The beauty of this story is it is not over. In the future I will tell you some of the funny stories I have.

I miss my Bucky and Flirty terribly but Zak and Missi have quickly filled the void I had in my life. They are truly my best friends now.

I am going to close for now.
Don
