HAPPY ENDINGS!

SKIPPER & BUDDY

Renee, Caryn, Buddy and Skipper (front)

Too old and destined to die. That was, quite frankly, the fate awaiting our sweet Skipper and Buddy. You see, Skipper and Buddy had the misfortune of coming in as strays to Southern California animal control shelters where, because there are too many dogs and not enough good homes, well over 100,000 dogs are put to sleep in Southern California annually. Caryn Pola, of ESRA, knew she better pull Skipper fast from the high kill shelter before he was put to sleep because he was "too old." You see, Skipper is 10 and that stacks the odds against him. He was very matted, had a big lilpoma on his leg and had never been neutered. His chances of adoption were very slim if ESRA had not rescued him. Caryn had him groomed, neutered, the benign lipoma removed and his terribly neglected teeth cleaned. He sparkled the day Renee came to adopt him (May 19, 2000) thanks to Caryn Pola, ESRA foster mom extraordinaire.

About the same time 8 year old Buddy had just been given a 12 hour reprieve from being put to sleep at the high kill shelter he was in so that ESRA member Peggie Malcolm could race down to the shelter and rescue him from certain death. Buddy was so matted he had to be shaved down and a foxtail removed from his ear. Buddy had been so neglected all his life he did not know what toys were or how to play. Foster mom Peggie Malcolm and her family loved Buddy back to trusting and enjoying life. He quickly went from a depressed dog to a happy dog in foster care (we are so grateful to Peggie) and now lives his life in his forever home in a constant state of butt wiggles. Renee & Don Holmes adopted Buddy June 4, 2000.

Skipper and Buddy are best of friends. They get along beautifully, both enjoy their daily walks with Mom and Dad, have healthy appetites, great house manners, love their treats, and spring around the house in a complete state of joy. They follow their Mom and Dad EVERYWHERE! They love life to the fullest and show it by constantly licking aka kissing their Mom and Dad.

We can assure you, there is nothing "old" about either of these two lovebugs (they have lots of energy and "spring" in them) and we all look forward to a long healthy life together-thanks to ESRA.
