Hi,
I'm Charlie. My sister, Katie, listed below and I were given up by a family who just didn't have time to spend
with us. We have always been outside dogs, until ESRA took us in. We were quick to learn how nice the inside is.
I already know about this thing that is a hole in the wall - I guess they call it a doggie door. Any way, I have
learned how to use it and am adjusting to life inside. I am pretty much housetrained, and am pretty good on a
leash. I have been with Katie most of her life. My previous owners got me to keep Katie company since she was so
lonesome being outside with no one to play with. Since Katie became my sister, I appointed myself her guardian
and protector. I have a great temperament, but just feel a fellow has to watch out for his sister. I do need some
obedience training, but I am good with kids.
Cheers,
Charlie
Foster Mom says: Charlie is a big boy and needs to learn not to jump. Older kids would be best. He has one trait
that is typically Springer - he counter-surfs, but that is easy to stop. (Just don't leave any food out that he
might get!) Foster mom says a sweeter guy you won't find.
Please consider adopting both Charlie and Katie. They are a bonded pair and will give you many years of devotion.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Charlie.

I am Chip and I am the kind of dog that makes foster homes fail fostering 101 - I am just such a good boy. My
previous owner died unexpectedly and left me homeless. His family wanted to take me to the pound, but an alert
daugter-in-law turned to ESRA instead! Thank goodness.
I am currently living with 3 other Springers, including two males and a female. I play really hard with with the
guys and work hard to stay out of the female's way! I am learning to leave the cat alone, but I do bark at
it.
My current foster home also has a 10 month old grandchild who visits frequently and I am so gentle with her. I
have a cute way of smiling that shows all my teeth - but I am very appropriate and never place my teeth where
they don't belong. I love to ride in the car, and I have spent some time in doggie day care and the people there
really like me too. Oh, I forgot to tell you I am crate trained and even go to my crate during the day to
sleep.
Foster Mom: Chip is young and a training class of basic manners wouldn't hurt him. He loves companionship and
would thrive with another dog and stay-at-home parents. His handsome good looks and winning personality make this
Chip and excellent choice for kids, adults, or a combination of both.

Hi, I am Flash.
I was rescued from a shelter. I was so scared, but now I am having such a good time at my foster home. They have
two other Springers here, and we play and play. My foster Dad says that I am one of the best-behaved dogs he has
ever had, and he has had a lot of dogs.
I know things like Sit, Down and In (to come in from the front yard). I don't ever even try to run away when I am
out in front getting the morning newspaper with my foster Dad. He trained me to do this. I am very, very
smart.
When I am told to go to bed, I will stay in my crate all night, and they don't even have to close the door. I
love to hang out with my two foster brothers. I do a little counter surfing, but we all know how to stop that.
Just don't leave any thing on the counter that I can reach!
I have not been tested around cats, but I do love to sit by the doggie door and when the birds come, I am out the
door and chase them. I haven't hurt them at all. I am very, very friendly, so I am sure that I would love older
children. I am afraid I might knock a toddler down in my exhuberance to give them my love.

I'm Frankly. Yep, that's right F-R-A-N-K-L-Y. And my name fits, 'cause Frankly, I'm a great dog. I'm cute, I'm
funny, and for a 3 year old, I'm pretty mellow. I even have AKC papers.
I have been loved and very well cared for all my life, but circumstances lead me to a new home. I get along
really well with other dogs. I came from a place with three and now I'm 1 of 6 in my foster home. I love to play
in the yard with the tennis ball and my foster sisters, chase birds and bat at flying bugs.
I know basic commands and am pretty good on the leash. And the great news is that I have learned the doggy door.
It is such fun to go in and out by myself! I am crate trained, but I've got to be blunt - I really don't like it!
I am looking for a home where my people are around a lot. I need to have lots of love and cuddling, and really
like to sit on the sofa or sleep on the bed with my humans.
I like to roll on my back and get belly rubs. I have a cute little walk where I keep my nose close to the ground
and wiggle my back end.

Mocha is my name and I am looking for a special home that will love me and take care of me forever. In return, I
am young and have many good years of devotion for just the right person. My problem is called light and shadow
with reflection obsession. A perfect home for me is where there is someone home with me all day and there isn't
small children. The older children would need to be made aware of my problem and to know that they absolutely
cannot tease me with any thing shiny.
Foster Mom says: She is a wonderful dog and is showing improvement. This behavior will always present a
challenge. Her behavior is triggered by excitement, so that is why small children would not be a good choice. She
knows some basics and is very good once you have her attention. Mocha is still working on leash skills. Exercise
has been the most help, and she will run and run and run and run on her daily visits to the dog park.
Case Manager says: I recently ran into a former adopter of ours who adopted a beautiful female from us a couple
years ago. She has learned to live with the dog's light obsession and says she it has gotten much better over the
couple years she has had her. What works for her, is that the minute her dog begins to get excited and follow the
light - she diverts her attention. So if you have time and patience don't be afraid to adopt this sweet female.

They really named me Nicholas, but chose Nick for short. So guess you can figure about when I came into
ESRA's care. Yes, it was two days before Christmas. Wow, I had the best Christmas ever with several foster
brothers and sisters, including a puppy. My foster Mom made sure I was all warm and cuddly. A big difference to
the cold, lonely cage I had been in at the shelter.
I love to go to the dog park - where all these dogs and their owners just run and play. It is the favorite thing
in my day. The other thing that is essential in my day is that I want is to be loved, loved, loved by my humans.
Too many hugs and belly rubs are never enough for me.
Foster mom says: Nick is a great dog. He is very social and independent. He still needs a little house training,
as he will occasionally have an accident in the house, if he is a little nervous. Patience and a strong will to
work and socialize him is an essential for this friendly boy. Nick is good with children, but they should be
older and bigger than he is. Nick is a work in progress, but he has learned Sit and Come and isn't bad on a leash
- it's all new to him.

I'm Rudy, and I am five years old. I am looking for that special home that will keep me forever, as I have been
moving around quite a bit these last few months. During my first few years, I spent a lot of time outside, and
didn't get the chance to learn how wonderful it is to be loved and hugged, and sit at the feet of my person in
the house. Now, I have had a chance to experience that and oh, do I love it!!
My foster Dad has taught me a lot of things since I've been at his house. First, I have a brother, and we love to
play ball and Frisbee. I have this one funny thing that I do - when I wake up in the morning to get everyone
going, I grab my towel before I start my day.
I am a good listener, and I know Come, Sit, Down, and Stay. I do not like to be talked to or corrected with a
loud, harsh voice. I think you are angry at me and get sad. So if you just use a normal stern voice, I will
understand, and try to do exactly what you want me to do. Dad says I really like to please.
I am getting nice walks in the morning and evening and have learned to do well on the leash. Because I have been
alone so much until I came to my foster Mom and Dad's, I would really like my Forever Home to be where someone
was home most of the time.
If you are the one for me, and will continue with my training, then I can't wait to meet you!

Woody is a friendly, handsome, and loving dog. He can be a little shy, but he warms up quickly and will give you
the best kisses! He is housetrained and not destructive in any way.
Woody is smart, alert, and learns very quickly. He loves to be petted and rubbed and likes to be at your feet or
close by. He loves to run and travel in the car or truck, and he gets excited every time he knows we are going
somewhere. His foster home has a swimming pool and, although he likes it, he'd be happy with a kiddie pool. He
loves to retrieve a ball, either on land or in the water. Woody adores going for walks and does well on a
leash.
As with most Springer Spaniels, his perfect home would be with a family who is reasonably active and likes to
include their dogs in all they do. Woody has done well with the teen crowd, but it's unknown how he handles small
children. His foster home has a menagerie of Springers and a resident cat. He is crate trained and uses a dog
door.

Angel wants to find a home where she can be pampered and be someone's companion.
Not much is known about her past, she's not telling. She was picked up as a stray full with mammary tumors. We
suspect that she had been bred many times in her past life.
All the tumors have been removed, xrays done and no other tumors were found. She is now ready for her new
home.
Angel's personality is just that, she is sweet and loves people. She would prefer to be an only dog. Cats are
unknown. She also has a full tail. Her foster Mom has started her on leash and obedience training.
She is not food or toy possessive, is housetrained and rides will in a car.
Angel enjoys squeaky toys but really doesn't know how to play with them or a ball.
If you throw the stuffed toys for her, she will retrieve them but will place them in her bed like they were her
puppies.
Is there room in your home and family for this deserving girl? Are you looking for a Springer to just be a
devoted companion?

Hi, my name is Arlo, and I've been told that I am a very handsome show-bred Springer. I am ten-years-young
and very healthy. I love to go on walks, but REALLY love to just hang out with my human and lay at his feet. I
guess I am a mellow guy, pretty low maintenance, just lots of love and food, and I'm good-to-go!
My family has had me for seven years, and rescued me from a rescue group in LA. I was found dumped in the river
bed in pretty bad shape, they think I was used as bait in dog fights and I got beat up pretty bad, but that is
long behind me as my family has spoiled me and loved me the last seven years and I was able to forget those awful
memories.
I am very healthy, have a little problem hearing, but know hand signals, great sight, and I love kids, dogs, and
gosh, I love everyone!
I need to find a new loving home because my parents just had twins and they don't have time for me anymore. I'm
very sad, but am hopeful that I can find a new home and companion where we can just love each other forever.
Are you my new home? I promise to be a good boy!
Love,
Arlo

Hi Everyone! I'm Beau, and I am hoping to find a very energetic happy home of my own. My foster mom says that I
am a troublesome teenager, but I'm getting better. I'm working on learning not to countersurf (though the tri-tip
roast was great!), not to take clothing outside to chew or play with later, and no digging-out allowed. I also
hate leashes because I want to see everything now, and jumping up has just started to be an issue.
On the good side, I can Sit, use the doggy door, am housetrained, I play well with children of all ages, fetching
stuffed animals is my favorite game, I'm not food agressive, and like to play with any dog I can. I don't know
what a cat is, but if it runs I will bring it back to you!
I don't remember much of my past, but my foster mom says she thinks I was a loved dog and got too curious for my
own good, because I was found on the streets. That's where I learned to scrounge anywhere I could to get food,
and I still think I need to contstantly eat so I won't go hungry again. I was pretty thin and covered with fleas
and ticks when found, and I had kennel cough. My doctor said that I am healthy now. I've had all my shots, am
chipped, and ready to go!
I hope there is someone with a big heart that wants a young dog like me. I promise to learn the rules of the
house quickly, and love readily.

Bruno is a sweet mature male springer (7+ years old) who is slowly but surely getting used to being groomed and
cared for regularly. He will need a home where someone can spend some time developing his trust, and then follow
up with weekly ear cleaning to keep his ears from becoming infected again.
He is a great companion and indoor pet. Like most Springers, he prefers to be with people. He barks when left
alone, but eventually quiets down.
Bruno loves to eat everything, and has put on a few pounds in foster care.
Bruno's ideal new Forever Home should be one where there are older children only.
He gets along great with other older adult female dogs, and has had free run of his foster house with two
twelve-year-old submissive females, a Springer and a Field Spaniel.
Please send me an email to meet Bruno!

Having a puppy is a big commitment, and whoever adopts this precious pup will have to commit to training, love,

Hi, I'm Duke. How did I end up in Rescue? Well, my owner, who acquired me as a puppy, well her circumstances
in life changed in such a way she needed to relinquish me to ESRA. I was very loved and cared for. Thus, I was
rather confused when the nice lady from ESRA took me from my home but I have adjusted quite well in my foster
home and they say I should be just fine when I land my paws in my new forever home. My foster home says I follow
her everywhere. I'm a true Velcro Springer.
The nice lady from ESRA learned that I grew up with six kids, love kids, love to play, love walks, perfect house
manners, and I could sure fool you all about my age because I have lots of get up and go in me for an
eleven-year-old. I keep hearing that nice lady from ESRA talk about how beautiful I am--she says I am stunning. I
come from a very good breeding line, and am extremely healthy with the cleanest pearly whites you ever saw! I am
smart, and I tend to want to be the top dog.
That nice lady and my foster mom, who, by the way, is so sweet to me, well they say that I deserve only the best
Forever Home--one that appreciates and respects that a senior Springer is indeed a prized family member who will
bring to the home much joy.
That nice lady from ESRA, and my sweet-as-can-be foster mom, welcome your serious inquiries.
Thank you!

Hi everyone,
I'm Frankie. I'm best described as a young energetic boy who loves balls. I'm looking for my forever home. One
requirement for my new parents is they like to throw a ball because my motto is, Have Ball, Will Play. I would
rather catch the ball then eat. When you meet me I will probably have a ball in my mouth as I like to take it
everywhere.
If you thought about getting into dog sports I would make a great Flyball dog because I am so ball motivated. Oh
did I say I can also catch a Frisbee too.
Woof!
Frankie
Frankie is a young pup with all the puppy energy and enthusiasm. He is smart and a quick learner. His foster Dad
has been working with him on some commands and he will sit at the curb until you tell him it's okay to step down.
He does well on a leash, rides nicely in the car and is housetrained. He's not fond of baths but will put up with
them.
Frankie likes to be the center of attention, so he might be best as an only dog or with a submissive younger one.
We don't know how he is around cats but probably not.
He loves to cuddle and settles right down in the house. He loves all people but because of his energy children
over 5 would be best.
We will ask that his new family take him to obedience classes so he can be the best boy he can be.
He is up to date on shots, microchiped but still needs to be neutered and will not be able to go to his new home
until the end of February.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Frankie.

Here I am, Fujibo. I'm looking for a new home. My family, after much serious thought, decided I needed
another family that will do more with me than they can. I'm a fun loving and affectionate boy who loves people
and attention. I haven't been around other dogs much, so I'm shy with them. I don't know about cats. I love to
play with toys, balls, and Frisbees. If you throw them, I will retrieve them. When you get my leash out I get all
excited because that means we are going to go someplace. I will need training in several areas, like how to walk
better on a leash. I will also need some housetraining so I can be in the house with you. Here at my home, I stay
in the back yard and sleep in my crate in the garage. I understand housetraining is easy to learn. They say I am
really smart, so I'm sure I will catch on fast.
I'm looking for a family that I can do things with, and hang out by their feet watching television at
night.
Fujibo is a handsome, really sweet boy, who loves people. He tends to be shy with other dogs as he hasn't been
around many. He, like any typical Springer, wants attention, and will give it freely. He could use a basic course
in obedience, which is also a great bonding tool. He kind of knows Sit and Stay but could use more reinforcement.
He is fine with children. Because of his size and need of training, only children twelve or older would be best.
Fujibo is a little overweight but with regular exercise and play he should shed those pounds quickly.
Fujibo is neutered, up to date on shots including rattlesnake, on heartworm prevention, and micro-chipped.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Fujibo.

Happy was picked up as a stray in Hesperia on 6/19/08 and was never claimed. I will never understand WHY! He is
such as great dog. While there he contracted kennel cough and before release to ESRA was cured with antibiotics.
He was pulled on 7/8/08 and brought to his foster home by one of our great volunteers.
After a bath and careful removal of all his knots and mats he transformed into a sweet smelling beautiful field
bred Springer. He is a HAPPY boy, thus his name. We're trying to put some meat on his bones as he is a little
underweight.
Happy is 95% housetrained, walks fairly well on a leash, loves other dogs, tolerates cats and is very friendly to
everyone. On car rides he acts a little uneasy as I don't think he rode in one very much. He will get over this
as he really likes to go everywhere with his master, even the car.
He is a bit mouthy and likes to jump on you but with training will overcome this.
This little guy is really a sweet dog and will make the right adopter a wonderful companion.
I highly recommend obedience training as it will bond both dog and adopter and allow Happy to become that one
special,once in a lifetime, companion.
He is up to date on all his inoculations,Heartworm free (on a preventative) micro chipped and ready to find his
forever family.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Happy.

Jackie is a gentle Spirit in her Golden Years who is looking for a home to call her own. She gets along with
other dogs and people, both adults and children. She loves to go for walks and rides in the car. She is a quiet
lady who is house trained and healthy for her age. Recently, at our local Springer playday she was a social
butterfly, greeting everyone, both human and canine. She loves attention and freely gives it back. Jackie is
quiet, gentle and low maintenance. She would love at have a human to just hang with and a soft place to curl up
and nap.
Jackie came to ESRA a stray, very thin, and neglected with a damaged eye that was removed. She can see fine with
the remaining one. Currently she is deaf because of perforated ear drums. The vet thinks she may regain some
hearing, but for now responds well to hand directions.
She is spayed, up to date on shots, micro-chipped, and heartworm negative.
Consider opening up your heart and home to this deserving senior Lady.

Lancer arrived here Sunday 2/24 as an owner relinquishment.
Due to his former family's hectic schedule they felt it was in Lancer's best interest for ESRA to find him a new
family.
He is up to date on all his innoculations and is heartworn negative. His micro chip is implanted as well.
Since arriving here it has been determined that he gets along wonderfully with our two resident dogs.He would
love another dog or two for playmates.
It was apparent that he has never seen cats which he finds don't play like dogs.Having been put in his place by
several his curiosity has been put in check. He still wants to play but has learned not to try and harm them or he
takes the brunt end of his attempts.
A family with cats would be fine if monotored from the beginning with their introduction.
He is really a sweet puppy that is totally housetrained and learned to use the doggie door immediately. The puppy
chewing stage is in his past. He loves to cuddle on the sofa or in your lap and is great representative for
giving Springer Woo Woo's
He is somewhat fearful of strangers and new things but since he is a puppy I feel this problem can be overcome
with continuious socialization.
It is recommended that he go to a childless family until he has completed obedience training and has been
socialized gradually.
Since he is still a puppy and highly trainable I honestly feel he can get over his fears in due time in the right
enviroment.
He rides well in a car but needs work with his leash skills and obedience training. He does know the meaning of
NO.

I'm Logan and want to tell you about myself. I'm a really outdoor type of guy and enjoy watching over or
patrolling my foster Dad's yard. He has a really big one with a pool and an orchard. Sometimes I will chase the
squirrels or a cat that gets in the yard. I'm not a Velcro Springer like some but am affectionate and enjoy
knowing my human is around. When I'm outside and want attention I'll come to the door to let you know (my foster
Dad doesn't have a doggie door). I do like to put my head in your lap and offer you my paw. I'm very well
trained, knowing sit, come, stay and no. My foster Dad told me not to go in the flower beds when I first got here
and I haven't been in them since. I don't bark, dig, chew stuff or get in fence fights with the neighboring
dogs.
I enjoy going for walks, do well on a leash, swimming, ride well in the truck and enjoy outings to Starbucks,
Farmers Market or wherever. They say I am crate trained, but foster Dad doesn't think I like them much,
housetrained and I do not jump on people. I'm really smart too and let my foster Dad know when I want something
like the other day when it was past my feeding time. I went in the garage, where he keeps the container with my
food, got the lid and took it over to him to remind him and then sat at my bowl waiting for him to fill it.
I'm starting to get my waist back as I've lost 10 lb since I've been in foster care. Daily walks and some
swimming have really helped me accomplish this. I am prone to ear infections and right now we are working on
clearing one up with daily medicine and a wheat free food. I'm really good and just lie on my side for my foster
Dad to put the medicine in my ear.
I'm fine with all the dogs who I have met on my daily walks and those that have come to visit me too. I would
probably be fine with cats if they don't run. I enjoy people of all ages.
Overall I'm a happy dog who has a tail that is always wagging. Now I just need a Forever family of my
own.
A note from his Foster Dad:
I have had Springers for over 40 years and Logan is probably the most amazing dog I have been around. If you are
looking for an amazing and loving dog Logan is it, so don't hesitate to inquire as there is only one of him.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Logan.

Hi Everyone,
You know what they say about great things coming in small packages, well that would be me!! My name is Oreo and I
am a very petite female Springer looking for my new forever home. I have been bounced around a quite a bit in my
short life, so I would really like to find a permanent home soon. My current family took me in after their
Minister found me as a stray. I then moved to another home in my current owner's congregation, but I could not
stay. Not only that, they found out that I was going to have puppies. At that time, my current owner stepped in
and helped me out. I had my puppies on April 2nd, and now they have all been adopted except for one of my son's
(which they are keeping), so it is time for me to find a home to call my own. Did I mention they already have 3
other dogs, so that is the real reason I have to go?
Let me tell you a few things about myself. I am great on a leash, not even a tug. I know Sit, and am working on
some other commands. I have been around children (ages 10 and up), but am unknown with little ones. I am also
unknown with cats. I love taking car rides, playing ball, and swimming. I am almost 100% house trained, should be
fully house trained real soon. My owner does feel I would be best placed in a home where I was the only dog, and
had either a stay at home person, or someone I could run around with during the day. I have lots of energy, so I
would prefer someone who is willing to play with me and take me on walks daily.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Oreo.

Hey, Good Lookin' ! That's Me!
At least my mom and case manager say that. According to them, I simply exude happy, healthy charm!
I agree.
I'm Peter, and what's cookin' is that my mom wants to find a great new home for me, so she asked ESRA to
help.
I am pals with my eleven-year-old human and a Chihuahua brother. My dad and I are best friends, too. My mom loves
me, but she found out that she is going to have a new human baby, and she doesn't think I will do well with
that.
I am just like other dogs, and I love to play! In my pool picture, can you see my favorite green toy? I will
fetch it whenever you tell me to. I play with it by myself a lot!
I've had basic obedience training and am always up for a bonding refresher course with you! I love to swim and
enjoy running with a bike. Walks are the coolest, too, and I walk well on a leash. I get along with people and
most other dogs. On walks, I ignore cats. I just may be okay with them at home. We don't know. I am a very good
boy!
My problem is that I was born without optic nerves and am blind. You can't tell when you meet me, but I can't see
you. I may see slight shadows at times. Sudden noises and movement in the night and grabbing understandably
startle me, and I can get upset at that.
I think we could have a good new life together if you have a fairly calm household and will be a little patient
while I map out my new digs and settle in with you. I'm still young and very eager to please!
My present family wants to help and will work with you and my ESRA case manager to make my transition happy and
comfortable for all.
A household where someone is frequently home, and maybe another friendly dog, would be ideal for me. I have good
house manners, I'm potty trained, neutered, up-to-date on shots, healthy, and heartworm negative. All ready to
begin my new life with you!

Let's cook something up real soon!

Hi! My name is Presley, and I am a very happy, medium-energy boy. I love to go for walks, but could use some
training on proper leash walking, as they say I pull a bit. I have never had obedience classes, so that is
probably why. Actually, I am a pretty smart fellow. My foster Mom is working on teaching me the basic commands,
Sit, Stay, Come, and Down. Of course I am just a big puppy so I am still pretty stubborn. I am pretty-much
housetrained. And the great news is I have learned the doggy door. It is such fun to go in and out by myself! I
am crate trained, but I've got to be blunt - I really don't like it and I WILL tell you about it! I am looking
for a home where my people are around a lot. I need to have lots of love and cuddling, and really like to sit on
the sofa or sleep on the bed with my humans.
Foster mom here: Presley is definitely a Velcro dog. He loves to be petted and rubbed, and will always be at your
feet or close by. The ideal home for Presley would be one that has a nice yard to run in, another dog and/or
children aged ten and up to play with, and someone to take him on daily walks. He enjoys toys, especially
retrieving a ball. He asks that his new family have a good supply of them, and promises to throw it for him
daily. He also enjoys the company of other dogs. Presley is a true joy to have around. He has a true Springer
personality - exuberant, joyful, and carefree. He does not chew, dig holes, or get into things he shouldn't.
Presley enjoys rough and tumble play with the resident dogs, but calms down nicely for cuddles and belly
rubs.
If you are looking for a lap dog, or just someone to hang out with, Presley would be more than happy to
accommodate you!

Buenos Dias everyone! I'm TJ, and so named because that's where I was born. I've been living here in the states
with my wonderful family since Christmas. Because of recent changes, they have become SO busy they feel it's not
fair to me to stay with them, and that I need a family who will have more time for me.
For my young age, I am a calm boy. I get along fine with other dogs, am good with kids, and even let the birds
drink from my water dish without disturbing them. Not sure how I am with cats. I'm housetrained, ride well in a
car, and have even gone 4-wheeling with my human Dad. I like to give kisses and be in your lap, but only if you
encourage me.
I am up to date on shots, neutered, micro-chipped, and heartworm negative.

Alfred is a very sweet natured guy who is anxious to please. He has that Springer "Velcro" personality and will
be devoted to his family. If he knows you, he will get excited and TALK to you, to greet you. He is crate trained
and even goes there on his own. He knows how to heel and will walk well on leash, but also loves to run full out
if you let him. He sits on command and when given his dinner, he will stay until given the "OK, good boy"
permission to eat.
In spite of his hip and leg pain in the past, he is athletic. Alfred has had two surgeries to correct hip and
knee problems, and is ready to roll. He loves to run, chases balls (and sometimes brings them back), and plays
tug. He absolutely LOVES water. He is a strong swimmer and is crazy about the garden hose. His Foster Mom says
that he is also exuberant at the water dish
He gets along with other dogs and doesn't have alpha tendencies. Alfred is definitely trainable and responds very
well to treats as reinforcement. He really fits well into a routine and will even anticipate the next thing that
is going to happen. Alfred is taking one pill a day to help him relax and enjoy his new life without pain. He
will do best in an environment that offers consistency and patience, possibly one with adults only or older
children.

Let me introduce myself! I am the Rocky Mountain ESRA Belle of the Ball! I'm a Utah girl who came across the
mountains to Colorado with four, yes indeed, four boys, so don't you think I earned the name?
My foster family thinks I'm pretty special! They take me on hikes and rides in the car. And they play with me
forever out in the backyard. I am a field-bred girl and love to check out the wildlife. I get along very well
with my foster sisters, and I did well at the dog park, but I really love to be with my people. And I really want
to please!
I enjoy the busy family life at my foster home. I would be happy as an only dog, or would do well with doggy
friend as well.
If you think you might be the right Forever Home for me, please the ESRA people know!
P.S. I am much prettier than my picture :-)

Hi. Buddy is a fourteen-month-old, liver and white, neutered male. Buddy is quite the character, and enjoys
mugging for the camera. He is very sweet, and loves to play with other dogs. He is housetrained and crate
trained. Buddy tends to be a bit alpha. He likes to be with people and learning new things. He knows Sit, and is
willing to learn more new commands from a new family.
Water is one of his favorite things. He drinks out of the hose, splashes in the kiddie pool, and even runs
through the sprinkler like a true pro. In fact, sprinklers are to be played in, and are not just for watering the
lawn. Buddy likes to play tug of war, too.
He is very gentle at taking treats, and does not have a shy bone in his body. He knows he's cute, and he knows
people appreciate his cuteness. Buddy is learning not to jump up when he is excited. He has a moderate activity
level, and would enjoy a daily romp in the dog park, or a nice brisk walk. Playing with his dog friends is very
rewarding.
Buddy would do great in a home with children ten years and up. He wants to be part of the family, and works hard
at making you laugh.

Cimmi is a beautiful bench bred Springer who was released to a Utah shelter when her family moved. When we got
her from the shelter she was very dirty, matted, smelly, had a sore on her tail and an ear infection...a bit of a
rough time for this lovely girl. Cimmi is now healthy, active and newly groomed!
She is housetrained, crate trained and does very well off leash. She needs a bit of work on her leash, but is
learning quickly. She loves her walks on the trail and is once again showing her Springer joy! Cimmi fits in
quite well with other dogs and has no issue with cats. Cimmi is very well behaved in the house - she does not get
on the furniture and does not counter surf. She is a moderately active and loves her runs on the trail.
Cimmi is most comfortable with women and but will warm up to men with a gentle touch. She is learning to trust
her people and comes to her family for treats and affection. She would do best in a home with adults or older
children. She probably would have a hard time in a very active, busy household. She is a quiet girl. Cimmi had a
tough time in life before she came into rescue and she really wants and needs a new, loving Forever Home to give
her the happy years ahead that she deserves!

This is Cooper! He is a beautiful and very smart puppy. Cooper is less than a year old, but he is growing fast
and will probably become a very good sized dog!! Cooper loves to play fetch, although he hasn't quite mastered
the part where he brings it back to you yet! He will need someone to teach him that important part of this new
game!!
Cooper is a fun loving Springer puppy that is full of life and loves to play. He was an outside dog so he really
doesn't quite know what to think about all the wonderful things inside the house, but he's catching on fast! He
hasn't had any accidents in the house so far. His foster mom lets him out quite regularly and he knows exactly
what to do when he gets outside! I told you he was a smart dog!
Cooper will lay quietly in his crate, but he isn't all that excited about going into the crate. However he is
getting better about walking in by himself now. Cooper gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home and
really loves playing with the younger puppies in the front yard!
Cooper is not good with cats. He does very well on a leash, and loves to go for walks!!
Cooper doesn't bark at all and he doesn't jump on the little boy at his foster home. He does very well with
children and only wanted to jump on his foster mom to thank her for everything she did for him!! Cooper really
loves to be loved, and he will flop on his back anytime he can talk you into a nice tummy rub!
Would you love to meet Cooper and see if he is the right Springer puppy to bring lots of love and fun into your
life and home? Please contact us soon to find out more about Cooper.

Miss Daisy is as sweet and beautiful as the flower she is named for! She came from a home that didn't like her
very much and only wanted her for the puppies she would produce. When our volunteer went to pick her up, she
wouldn't even walk as they got her out of the crate. She was so timid and shy that she would only crawl on her
belly for fear of what might happen to her. As soon as she left her previous home and went to the foster home,
she became a new dog!! She was friendly and social, going up to every dog and every person in the house to meet
and greet them all! Poor Daisy, all she needed was a happy home where she would be loved!
Daisy is such darling and gentle dog. She loves to be loved and be close to her people. She is crate trained, and
is working on her house training. She is very good with other dogs, cats and loves children. She has been having
a lot of fun playing in the front yard with the cute puppies also in foster care, at her foster home. Daisy is
very good while riding in the car.
Sweet little Daisy will need some extra love and care from her new family. She has been through some hard times.
She has so much love to give! She can't wait to find her forever home! Daisy is very smart and willing to please,
so she should be able to learn all the basics of living in her new home, in no time at all!

Meet little Darby who is as cute as a button! She is just a tiny dancer who is very light on her feet and loves
to dance and prance everywhere!! Darby is a very sweet dog and a very easy foster girl. She is housetrained and
learned the doggy door very quickly. Darby is great with other dogs, and good with cats. She walks well on a
leash, which is pretty nice for a young Springer Spaniel!!
Darby is the definition of a velcro dog, she wants to be attached to her people at all times! She promises to
follow you to the ends of the earth, or wherever you go!! She rides very well in the car and has taken several
long car trips already to prove herself. We don't know much about Darby's background, because she came in to the
shelter as a stray. However, she did not like being at the shelter, and had a very hard time staying there until
our volunteer could rescue her! The people at the shelter were very kind and loving to her and helped her put up
with things until she was able to find a wonderful foster home with ESRA.
Darby is a very loving dog who wants to have fun and please you! She loves to play fetch and is very good at that
game. Darby is such a smart dog, she already knows how to sit and should be able to learn all her basic commands
in no time at all.

Duke is a pretty tough sounding name for the sweet, loving boy who came to us from the Utah countryside. Duke
found a way into the hearts of his Utah foster family, and is already working on his Colorado foster mom!
He is a fairly low-key guy, who has had a bit of a rough time lately. Just after he came into our rescue, he was
diagnosed with heartworm disease, fortunately at a very low level. He was successfully treated, and has his final
check-up in early September.
Duke has done a great job of getting along with his foster brother and foster cat sister. He just seems to take
everything in stride. He is housetrained, and rides well in the car. He still needs to learn some of the basic
commands and is doing so with the help of his foster mom.
This handsome boy is looking for a loving person or people that he can call his Forever Family. He's ready to
work his way into your heart, too!

Take a lot of fun, a bunch of sweetness and a whole ton of love, mix it together and you will have our little
Milkshake!! She is a wonderful combination of loving, happy, smiling, excited Springer! Milkshake is a darling
girl who really loves to be in the house. We think she may have been an outside dog before ESRA picked her up
from the shelter. She has been to the doggie salon already and she is looking beautiful now!
Milkshake is just as yummy as her name! She is very friendly and has made many friends in the short time she has
been in her foster home. She is very good with children, cats, other dogs and even great with guests, in her
foster home. She is housetrained and rides very well in the car. Getting into the car is another story, she just
doesn't like that part for some reason! Her foster mom has to pick her up and put her in the car. After that, she
has a grand time riding around and checking out the world!!
In her history we were told that Milkshake had trouble chasing kids on skateboards. However, when a small child
on a scooter came riding down the driveway recently at her foster home, she paid no attention to him at all. The
yard at her foster home is fenced and she loves to play there without ever trying to escape. Milkshake is a true
Springer in that she can jump about 3 feet in the air from a standing position!! That's impressive! She gets very
excited when her foster family comes home and that's when she does her big air jumps!! Milkshake is also a
smiling dog, not too many dogs can do that, but Milkshake has it mastered, and her foster family loves it!
She knows her name when you call her, but she will need a little more work with other commands. She likes to be
with her family and follows them everywhere! She is a very well behaved girl, and she might possibly be younger
than her age states. A sweet Milkshake sure sounds good for a hot summer day! Come meet her to find out more!!
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Milkshake.

Hi, I'm Petey, and I came to the rescue as a stray. I don't know why no one claimed me. They tell me I am really
a sweet and loving boy. I try really hard to be a good boy. My foster mom says I am a mellow boy and I love to
cuddle.
I am about 2-3 yrs old. I am a black and white, bench-bred neutered male, and I am up to date on all my shots. I
am good with children, and I get along with other dogs. I do not like cats or ferrets at all, and love to chase
them. I am housetrained, and my foster mom is crate training me. She says I am good in the crate at night and
when no one is home. I know commands like Sit and Down. I know I could learn more commands if I had a family that
would spend some time with me and train me.
I would love a home that has another dog, and people who like to cuddle. It would be great to have a family that
could spend some time with me and play with me. If you think you are the family for me, please fill out an
application. I can hardly wait to find my new home.
Update 25 JUN 08: Petey can be a bit of an escape artist and his been known to jump a four-foot fence. He does
come back when you call him. Petey just wants to explore. He will need a family that has a six-foot fence around
the yard. He is so sweet with those sad eyes that you can't help to love him.

Hi! My name is RIO and I am a very happy, high energy boy. I love to go for walks but could use some training on
proper leash walking, they say I pull a bit. I have never had obedience classes, so that it probably why.
Actually, I am a pretty smart fellow.. My foster parents are working on teaching me the basic commands, SIT,
STAY, COME, and I am picking things up very quickly.
My former Mom had grandchildren and a cat and got along well with everyone. I will bark at cats when I see them
outside, but that's my job. I also got along well with other dogs who visited. I am housetrained and good around
the house. I also behave myself at the groomer.
I am looking for a family who will love me and finish my education, so I can be someone's perfect little boy.

Spencer is one the friendliest Springers you will have the pleasure of meeting. He wants nothing more than to be
someone's special boy.
One of the things that make Spencer so special (besides his great attitude and joy for life) is the fact that he
is deaf. When Spencer was turned into the shelter his previous owner said that he did not respond to them.
Apparently, Spencer's hearing was never tested. Even though Spencer cannot hear the world around him, it has not
dampened his spirit. He is an outgoing fellow, likes everyone he meets, and is as easy going as they come.
Spencer has a great smile and a bounce in his step. He is absolutely delightful.
Spencer will require a home that is willing and able to spend the time he needs to adjust to his new home and
life. If you are looking for a family member who will steal your heart at first meeting, then Spencer is your
guy!

Hi my name is Taylor and I was found wandering the streets, so no one knows anything about my past. I am a very
friendly guy who loves everybody and gets along well with other dogs. I like my foster Dad's daughter and her
friends, who are 10 years old. I seem to have a fixation on cats, so cats are a no-no for me.
Since my name is new to me. I am still learning to respond to it. My foster Dad says I walk really great on a
leash, but my new owners would do well to enroll me in a basic obedience class. I am house trained and do not
counter surf. I do well in my doggie crate. I love to ride in cars. I have a moderate energy level for a springer
and like to play with balls. This could be why I have a broken canine tooth.

Duke is a darling, smart, and energetic puppy. He adores playing with toys and is quick to empty out the toy
basket. He likes other dogs and is persistent trying to win them over. He is a cuddly boy who enjoys hanging out
with his people. Duke is also good with kids and cats.
He walks decently on leash, sticks close on off-leash walks in the woods, and is learning his basic commands. He
is housetrained and crate-trained. He was born in early January, so is 6 months old as of this writing.
Duke (aka Doogie) is a sweet well-socialized boy with a svelte angular field-bred build. He's looking for a home

one!

When you open the AKC breed book and look up Springer - you'll see my picture!! I have a spring in my step as I
cheerfully bounce around the yard! I love to snuggle too! I am great with other dogs, my foster mom and dad have
two Springer children and another foster, I play with them all. I am great in my crate and good on a leash.
Sorry, I do not play nice with cats!
I was at the shelter when my foster parents came to save me! I was not in good shape - bad hair days had become
the norm! But they gave me a spa treatment and took me to the vet. The vet noticed I have had a few litters of
puppies, but I am spayed now (thank goodness)!! I do have heartworms from living outside with the mosquitos, but
I'm getting treated for that now and will be ready for adoption at the end of July!
Won't you please consider adopting me? I'd love to spring into your home and love you forever!

Cookie is a really neat dog and a very nice boy. And, gosh, what a gorgeous black and white beauty! He was taken
in by a warm-hearted family who spotted him running alongside a busy Oklahoma highway. They scooped him up,
vetted him and gave him a home temporarily. They contacted us knowing we would find him the perfect family.
He has spent quite a bit of time with fairly young children, and he has been great with them. Cookie appears to
be very comfortable in new surroundings, and very friendly and outgoing. He loves to swim, so we would love to
find him a home with a pool or pond. Cookie is energetic, but yet pretty well-mannered. He loves toys and things
to chew on, and definitely has an affinity for his extra-large kong. Carries it with him everywhere. He gets
really excited when he encounters new dogs and wants to play. He's also a pretty good little passenger in the
car.
Cookie would do well with an active family who enjoys outdoor activities. He is a young fieldie boy who
definitely needs the opportunity to run. He craves lots of attention and human interaction, and deserves to be
spoiled silly. He is in perfect health, current on all his shots, and has been neutered.

Meet the lovely, lovely Darcey Belle! We cannot say enough about this striking, tri-colored young lady. The
photos cannot begin to capture her real beauty.
Darcey is absolutely the sweetest dog! Her needs are simple, just to be loved and adored. Darcey is happy,
outgoing, loving, and gentle with everyone, and has a wonderful temperament. On occasion, she will act timid
around some men, but thirty seconds later she's their best friend. She is comfortable with, and has spent a good
deal of time with, children of all ages. Darcey Belle would enjoy a doggie companion, but would certainly be
happy as an only dog.
Darcey needs good daily exercise, playtime in the yard, as well as nice walks or jogs. Initially, she is very
enthusiastic, but then settles nicely. As with most Springers, Darcey should never been left alone in the
backyard while away. Also, the crate causes her undue stress, so we would like to place her with a family where
that is not necessary. She is housetrained.
Please consider adding this beautiful Springer to your home. You will absolutely fall for her just as all our
ESRA volunteers already have. We
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Darcey Belle.

Gino is the dearest and most delightful little boy! Unfortunately, he has been looking for his new digs for a
very long time and is growing up in front of our eyes while he sits and waits . . .
Gino is a living doll! He's just a pup and still has some growing to do. He is a lean and leggy Springer with
such a striking look. His bright-white natural, field-bred coat is wonderful and very low maintenance. His
adorable pronounced freckles just pop out at you and make him irrisitible. His eyes are enchanting and will make
you melt!
Gino is still a young tyke, so will need to be molded into an upstanding member of the family. It goes without
saying, that he will needs lots of love and attention and daily exercise is imperative. He does beautifully with
other dogs and would really enjoy a four-legged runnin' buddy.

This young pup was struck by a car on a busy road in East Texas and left for dead. Suffering from a dislocated
and fractured pelvis and multiple fractures in his hind legs, he was paralyzed and unable to maneuver to safety.
Animal Control arrived at the scene; he was taken back to the shelter and awaited his inevitable fate . . .
Through it all, this beautiful boy wore a smile; his tail never stopped wagging. Despite the extensive and
excruciatingly painful injuries, his exceptional temperament and gentle disposition captured the hearts of
everyone at the shelter, especially Justin, the Adoption Coordinator. Justin contacted ESRA pleading for help.
Without hesitation, she loaded him in the car and unselfishly made the long and late-night trek to the 24-hour
emergency care and surgery center facility in Dallas. At that point, we knew this lucky Springer would gratefully
and lovingly be named "Justin".
As you read Justin's story, after several lengthy and complex surgeries, he is recovering comfortably, sleeping
soundly, and undoubtedly conjuring up "Springer dreams" of squirrel patrol, bird chasing, and bunny hunting. He
has no idea that while he sleeps, his dreams are coming true . . .
At the top of our wish list, along with donations to assist ESRA in covering expenses for his surgery, is a
Florence Nightingale who will foster or foster-to-adopt our boy through his recovery. He will need extensive cage
rest and probably a few more check ups. ESRA will continue to cover his expenses throughout his recovery.
Update 24 SEP 08: From his foster home: Justin's final surgery to remove all the pins in his leg is complete. The
pins in his hip will be permanent. He is progressing SO well! His staples were removed yesterday and, thank
goodness, he is now rid of that Elizabethan collar. He couldn't wait.
Justin is so playful--just full of himself! He loves his toys. He loves to play tug-of-war with all the sound
effects. He loves other dogs. He does take off after anything, birds, squirrels, cats, butterflies, etc. I
imagine that's how he got himself into this predicament. He will need to be on a leash if out of a fenced
area.
It's been a long journey for this beautiful boy, and it has been our pleasure to be a part of it. He will be
fully recovered by the end of October and will be available for adoption November 1st.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Justin.

Riley is just a super dog with a shining personality! He possesses all our favorite springer traits. He's
gorgeous, sweet, needy, affectionate, energetic, clumsy, and very silly. He's just one happy dude. He was
relinquished by his owners when they had to move into an apartment. Along with long work and school hours, they
felt Riley was owed more than they could give him.
Riley is housetrained and kennel trained and has mastered some basic obedience commands. He has nice manners in
the house, but does neeed to be kenneled while you're away. He's loves toys and is always up for a good game of
fetch. A perfect home would have lots of time to spare, a love of the breed, and a large, backyard oasis where
Riley can be a dog. He would be fine as an only child or would do great with another dog, but one young enough to
appreciate his playfulness. He is accepting of young children, as well; but his size and his enthusisasm would be
too much for little ones.
Riley is very healthy, sturdy and strong! The picture of youth and health.
This exceptional boy deserves the best of the best . . . a real-life Life of Riley. If this sounds like your

Rocky is a priceless, happy, bright and active little Springer boy! He turns 1 year old June 21, 2008.
Rocky has exceptionally sound temperament. He responds with lots of excitement to everyone he meets, and behaves
perfectly with small children. As evidenced by his photo, Rocky adores the company of cats, another testament to
his loving and gentle nature. He does well with other dogs, but pretty much ignores them. Velcro Rocky is all
about you, you, and you! He's an energetic pup who loves to romp, play, and splash in the swimming pool. As with
all young Springers, he needs good daily exercise.
He is an extremely sensitive and anxious little guy. He suffers from submissive urination when first meeting new
people or encountering new places and things. His issue can be overcome with patience, understanding, and
socialization, and will more than likely disappear as he gets a bit older. We believe he would thrive in a calm,
controlled, and less choatic envrionment. Rocky should NEVER be punished or shown any frustration, only positive
encouragement. He is absolute perfection in every other way.
Rocky's previous owners have done an amazing job of training him. He knows all sorts of obedience commands, is
crate trained, and housetrained. He has been loved, and impeccably cared-for.
Rocky is a special boy in need of a special family who has the time, the knowledge, and the patience to work with
him. We can promise you that he will bring more love and happiness to your life than you ever thought posssible.
Are you that lucky family?
Update 17 JUL 08: After spending time in a fabulous foster home, Rocky is a whole new dog! He has gained so much
confidence and his submissive urinating is minimal now. Before long, it will all be behind him. We really believe
Rocky has benefited from spending time with his foster brother, Cajun, so we would prefer to place in a home with
another dog. He loves to play with other doggies! He's been quite spoiled in his foster home where he runs and
plays and swims in the lake all day. We hope to find another such home for this lovely little boy where he will
be just as happy.

Sugar and spice and everything nice . . . that's what sweet Sara is made of. She is a beautiful and precious
Springer without a family to love.
We are always shocked by how such amazing dogs such as Sara wind up in area shelters. Unfortunately, Sara was at
the shelter a little too long. She came to us very thin and with a horrible case of kennel cough that escalated
quickly. In fact, she had us worried sick. But, she's quite a champ, and has bounced back to the healthy, happy
dog she should be.
Sara is terribly affectionate and very needy. She perches up on her hind legs and wraps her little paws around
your hands. Priceless. She can never get enough of your affections and tries to stay as closely connected to you
as she can get. Sara would love to have a doggie playmate. She wiggles and pulls you at the sight of any canine
passerby. She would thrive in a home where there is someone around a good deal of the time.

Hi y'all, my name is Tucker. My family decided to drop me off at the shelter because I was always left in the
backyard and no one paid any attention to me. How sad you may say, but I think that perhaps it was meant to be
because I love it here in my foster home with my canine foster sister. I get along with other dogs and with all
the people I meet, but I'm still untested with cats.
My favorite thing is to go for walks and I know how to behave well when I'm on my leash. I especially love to go
to the park! I'd make an excellent walking companion for somebody. My foster mom says I'm a really good dog, even
though I've never had obedience training. I'm housetrained, know how to use the doggie door, and know better than
to chew on anything I'm not supposed to.
I'm a very friendly and happy sort and love to be near my people. Snuggling is my specialty.

Maybe next winter you would love to be sipping hot cocoa by the fire and cuddling up with...Cocoa! I am a real
snuggle bug lady!! Would you believe a volunteer with the shelter that I came from thought I was a boy! How
preposterous for a lovely lady like myself!! I might see how they got confused though, I did have a wild hair
thing going on...which is not my style at all! I just hadn't made it to the groomers in quite a while. Then I had
a hernia down in the middle of my tummy, which gave them the wrong idea. So when my foster mom took me to the
vet, she was pleasantly surprised when he said I was one hundred percent lady!! I got my rabies shot so I could
go the the groomers and be clean and beautiful again! Wow did I love that!! A few days later I went back to the
vet to have my hernia fixed and the abscess' drained from my toes where there were terrible thorns stuck in them.
Now I really feel like a million bucks!!
I get along very well with my furry foster sister. She likes me a lot, and I don't mind her one bit, even when
she teases me! The cranky house cat doesn't phase me either. There is a cute, little boy at my foster home, and
he is really busy. But I don't bother him and he doesn't bother me! What I really like to do is sit on my foster
mom's lap...all day long if she'd let me! My foster mom says I am a real people dog and definitely a lap dog. I
am not at all hyper, and after I check things out in the house, I settle down very well. I am house trained, but
I do need some help learning to walk on a leash. I would love to be your cup of Cocoa!!
Please give my foster mom a call and come to visit me. What I want the most is a happy home and a loving family
to play with me!! I haven't had much of that for a long time.
My foster home and family are great, but I just want a home and family to call my own!!
Love, Cocoa

Her name is Lola and she is definitely a show girl!! You really need to meet this darling dog and let her show
you her bag of tricks! Lola can sit, shake (with both paws), speak and will even give you a high five for a
treat! Then for the grand finale Lola will come running over, drop to the ground, roll over and sit up, waiting
for her reward! This is one multi-talented Springer!! Wouldn't she be a fun addition to your family?
Lola is the sweetest little dog ever! She came from a shelter, and it is a mystery why any family wouldn't try to
find this precious girl! Lola is completely housetrained, she sleeps soundly through the night, cuddled next to
her favorite two-legged foster brothers. She likes to go for walks and jogs, and she is very good on a leash. She
could probably use a little more exercise because she is a small girl, but she sort of waddles when she
walks!
Lola likes to chase those cute birds in the yard, but never can quite catch them, and she always comes back to
the house when she's done chasing. Lola will go in her crate when you ask her to, and likes to ride in the car,
but she does get a little too excited about everything she can see, and will run from window to window to make
sure she doesn't miss anything!!
Lola is quite the lovable little cuddle bug and wants to follow along and be with you where ever you go! She just
wants to be loved and have as much attention as she can possibly get! What self-respecting Springer doesn't? Lola
is very quiet, she doesn't bark much at all, except when you ask her to speak! She isn't all that fond of other
dogs, so she might do best as the only dog in the house. That way she can show off and practice her tricks
without any distractions! She is very well behaved and just needs a new family of her own to love.
Even the vet called her Lola, the showgirl, and she would love to show you all her talents! Make sure you call
soon, and don't take a chance on missing the opportunity to meet Lola!

Bella is a delightful little dog who should have been named Wiggles. She gets so excited to see you that the
wiggles take over her body and she can barely walk. She is a big fan of belly rubs and giving you a paw. She
likes to get in your lap if you'll let her. She gives great kisses on your chin and hand.
Bella's family was so sad to give her up, but their landlord forced them to. Bella was sad to leave her family
and was a bit anxious the first two days away from them. They had taken good care of her, and she had been spayed
and was up to date on all shots.
Bella was the only dog in the house, but she was with a cat and was with little children. She does well with cats
and kids of all ages, even toddlers. She likes to play with dogs she knows but will bark when she's on the leash
and sees strange dogs. She needs more socialization on the leash and going to busy places. She can get a bit
barky when something really exciting is happening but quiets when she gets attention.
She has a high energy level and can retrieve a tennis ball for a long time. She loves the water! Although she has
no experience hunting, she is interested in birds and was so excited to see pheasants! She would do best in a
home where she gets a lot of exercise, fetching, swimming, running.
It was reported that Bella was crate trained and slept in her crate, but she hasn't gone near her crate since
leaving the family and prefers the dog bed. She is housetrained. She knows sit, down, off, come here, etc.
The most exciting thing for Bella, other than the pheasants, was meeting some nine and ten year old girls. Bella
thought they were the coolest!
Bella needs a loving home where she is part of an active family.

Benjamin (affectionately known as Benny, Ben Ben, or Benji) is a gentle giant. His personality is that of the
cowardly lion. He was the first brought into rescue after an attack from a porcupine, leaving him full of quills.
He was found by a Good Samaritan who sought immediate medical care. It was a rural, remote area nowhere near
residences, and she wondered if this poor, sweet dog had been abandoned.
As luck would have it, there was foster care space for him with one of our more experienced foster care families.
They lovingly saw him through his recovery until he was healthy enough for adoption. He was strong and fit, was
neutered, and brought up to date on everything.
Benny was placed in a home where he was to be a service animal for a lady. Because he was so calm and loving, we
thought he would excel in this role. Unfortunately, he was too strong for such a medically fragile woman, who
decided she wanted a small dog that she was able to pick up, so he returned to the loving care of his original
foster family. Also, it was reported by the adopter that Benny had separation anxiety as he would look through
vinyl blinds to see outside when at home alone and scratch at the door. Although Benny did not display these
behaviors in his foster home, he did in a new environment.
The rescue reached out for the assistance of an experienced dog trainer. It turns out that it is not so much that
he has separation anxiety as he actually has Lassie Come Home Syndrome. When away from his foster home and
stressed, he wants to go home. He demonstrates this behavior because he is unsure of his safety, and he at first
wants to go back to where he feels the safest (his foster home). He tries his best to always see out the window
waiting for his humans and if the blinds are in the way, he will put his head through the blinds or try and move
them. He scratches at the door to signal the desire to be with his humans or that he must use the restroom. He is
very athletic and can climb a fence that is 8 ft tall, but only if left alone without supervision.
So our dilemma is, How do we make Benny feel safe when away from the foster home? We are learning the Crate Game
with the trainer so that he can transition into a new home. When Benny feels safe, he will be OK left
unsupervised in the home, as he is now in his foster home. However, we need a safe place for him to be while he's
settling into a new home. As much as his foster family would like to keep him, they know that they have to keep
space open for the many fosters that need our help.
Benny is extremely intelligent. He learned sit, down, stay, come, leash training, house training, yes and no in
record time (approximately 1 week). The best thing about his personality is his calm demeanor. Although he can
play and roughhouse like any young dog, he switches into relaxed mode in the house and spends most of his time
lounging or cuddling. He walks on the leash like a dream (no pulling) and will only pull to dart off if he sees a
squirrel.
He has the desire to please and really has attached himself to the foster mom. He currently lives with 3 other
dogs, 2 cats, 3 kids, and 2 adults. Benny seems fascinated by cats and almost in trances himself in the cat's
location. Therefore, upon advice from the trainer, he needs a home without cats. Another dog, however, would be
great. He's been tested with toddlers and was gentle and careful.
Benny needs parents or a parent who is appreciative of what he has been through, who is willing to give him the
time he needs to feel safe, and who will love him as he deserves. We, his care team, believe that he needs to be
able to have a say in the home he goes to. He is a great judge of character and can spot dog people right off the
bat. He is not a kissy type dog but won't hesitate to gently hug you.
We want to emphasize that he has not destroyed the blinds at his foster home, since they are familiar with his
need for to see outside. He patiently waits until the foster humans come home and greets them at the door with
much excitement. Benny will be successful in the right home and just needs a chance.
Look into the eyes of this gentle Lion and you will see a companion who is more human-oriented than you can
imagine. One hour of sitting next to him and stroking his velvety ears and receiving his nuzzles, and you will
know the power of love.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Benny.

Meet Dandy! Oh, my gosh, does this dog have enthusiasm for life. When he sees someone he knows, he does a
whole-body rocking motion. He's learned not to jump up but he can barely contain himself so he does his rocking
dance. He is always smiling, always happy!
Dandy-Andy is what his foster mom calls this wonderful five-year-old foster dog. His owner said he had him since
a pup of six-weeks-old, but can no longer care for him... sad situation. He was actually homeless, and Dandy
probably became so socialized meeting so many people. When we got into downtown Spokane, Dandy was totally
excited.
Dandy is housetrained, great with other dogs, and is being fostered with three cats. Dandy loves children. We
feel he would be best placed with children six years and older since he sometimes mouths your hand or arm and
might accidentally knock down toddlers. Dandy has very good manners other than the mouthing, and the mouthing
habit has pretty much disappeared. Dandy loves the ten-year-old girl in the household and also has a special love
for Dad.
He would make an ideal hiking partner since he is well socialized, comes when called off-leash, and enjoys daily
hikes in the Boise foothills and socializing with other dogs at the dog park. He loves to swim, too. Dandy does
wonderfully in the house, and will be a fantastic companion.
Dandy was recently shaved down because his coat was matted. He is in good health, and will have a gorgeous coat
when it grows back.

Holly is a super Springer. She loves adventures of all kinds, but her favorite thing in the world is swimming.
She gets along well with other dogs. She does very nicely with people of all ages, and is great with kids. I do
need to do further testing with cats to be sure about her ability to live with a cat, as she hasn't lived with
one before.
Holly is being returned because her owner lives on acreage and Holly does not stay put. She chases after field
mice and bunnies and goes exploring. He's tried to work with her off-leash skills but feels it is not going to
get any better. Something bad might happen to her while she is wandering. So we know that she needs a fenced
yard, and less freedom.
Holly is in great health. She is spayed, up to date on everything and in good shape from all the exercise she
gets. She currently sports a field cut but has a gorgeous coat when it is grown out.
She is housetrained and knows basic commands. She rides well in the car. She loves rawhide bones. Holly just
needs a new situation, with a fenced yard.
Update 05 SEP 08: Holly does well with the older children in the foster home (ages eight and ten) but still is
not comfortable with the six-year-old, who is very dog savvy. We think Holly would do best with either older
kids, very gentle teenagers, or no kids. A quieter household, with a lot of time for love and play, would be the
best.

HONEY
Seattle, WA

|
| ESRA#: |
2008-578WA |
| Status: |
Adopted |

| |
|
| Age: |
3 years |
| Gender: |
Female |
| Color: |
Black & White |
| Weight: |
40 lbs |
| Variety: |
Field |
Honey is as sweet as honey! It's no question how she got her name. She absolutely loves people and affection. She
can give kisses all day long. She would do best in a home where there is a lot of attention. Car rides are the
best! She'll follow you anywhere.
Honey is currently with an older couple in their 90's. They are struggling with such a young, lively dog. That is
the reason that she is looking for a home.
A note on Honey's background: the older couple got Honey from a family who was not taking care of her. Honey
spent her first year absolutely emaciated. She was pregnant during her first heat and all the puppies died.
Thankfully, the couple took her in, spayed her, and fed her. But Honey remembers what it was like to not have
food, and has remained protective of her food, when it comes to other dogs.
She would do well as the only dog, or with other dogs her size. The important thing is that Honey is fed
separately. She does enjoy playing, and likes being around other dogs. She would prefer no cats, as they kind of
remind her of squirrels!
Honey loves children and would enjoy being with a nice family with children. Children over four years would be
best, as Honey can sometimes forget and jump up. Also it would be good for the children to be old enough to
understand when Mom and Dad say, "Don't bother Honey while she's eating". Honey has NEVER shown food aggression
towards humans, but it is good to be cautious.
Honey started out as an indoor dog, but has mostly been outdoor the last year. It would be good to re-fresh her
housetraining skills and indoor manners. She knows them, but it's been a while since she's been inside. She knows
some basic commands, but an obedience class is a great idea for the new family.
She is an energetic fieldie who loves to run around and explore, and catch a scent in the yard. She needs a
fenced yard as she is currently now on acreage and sometimes has a hard time remembering to stay close. In a
fenced yard, she could have so much fun!
Honey is a healthy young dog who is up to date on everything and ready to be adopted. Will you open up your heart
to this lovely girl? She will thank you with endless tail wags and kisses.
Update 26 JUL 08: On August 5, Honey will be leaving her owners and going into foster care in Seattle so she can
experience indoor life. We have an applicant very interested in her, but Honey is not quite at the adoption
pending state. We feel it would be best for Honey to be adopted out after she's been in the care of our ESRA
volunteers, so we will not be pursuing any other leads until mid-August.
Update 06 AUG 08: Honey is now in Seattle in our official foster care and doing GREAT! She was recently groomed
and looks terrific. She has not had any accidents and has settled in well. She's doing well with the resident
dog, too. Honey will do fine with indoor living. She is VERY sweet and affectionate, and has a moderate energy
level. Her foster mom adores her.
Update 26 AUG 08: We need some more time to work on Honey's housetraining. Starting August 25, she's in a foster
home with a fenced yard, which will help. The former foster home was trying to have Honey go potty on walks, but
Honey was maybe too anxious to go then. So being in a fenced yard and continuing her training will hopefully make
a huge difference. We will be ready to look at a Forever Home in a few weeks when this issue is resolved.
Update 15 SEP 08: Honey's housetraining is just fine when she has access to a fenced yard. No problems at all! We
are taking applications for Honey again now.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Honey.

Indy is a beautiful 3 month old liver and white Springer boy who spent the early part of his life in the
Caldwell, Idaho shelter after being on his own. He lived in the shelter from age 9 weeks to 12 weeks, and he is
making up for lost time now, playing as much as possible! He is active and inquisitive. His name is a two part
story. He has the curiosity and love of adventure of Indiana Jones... and when running he has the speed of the
Indy 500 cars.
Indy is still very puppy with all that it entails. He loves to play, he loves to cuddle, he loves to give kisses,
and he loves to go on rides. He rides very well. Indy will need training and is learning not to potty in the
house. He loves chew toys!
He does well with the school-age kids in the house, and enjoys rough housing with the other dogs. In fact, you
should see him play with the big dogs! Indy is a force to be reckoned with! He doesn't mind those things that
keep hissing at him....(pesky felines).
He is learning to Sit, to Stay, to Come and to Down. He is very bright and eats up learning like it was doggie
treats. All around this boy is a perfect little guy. Please remember, he does like to rough house, and he likes
to dig, and will need practice and patience with his housetraining. His foster mom is home with him and works
with him diligently. We'd prefer to place him with someone who is home a lot and can continue his training and
socialization.
He has been vaccinated, neutered, and micro-chipped, and is ready for his new Forever Home.

Jasmine is a beautiful 8 month old black and white Springer girl who spent over a month in the Caldwell, Idaho
shelter, before coming into ESRA's care. She was found as a stray in the area and resembles other dogs we've
gotten from the same shelter recently, just like her: petite black and white fieldies with natural tails. You may
be reminded of Duke, Barney, Kramer, etc. from the last year if you keep track of our website.
Jasmine is a puppy, and she behaves like a puppy... she loves to play, loves to scamper around, and she loves to
cuddle. Jasmine is re-learning how to not potty in the house due to her time spent in the shelter, and she is a
very quick learner. She learned her name within about 20 minutes of leaving the shelter. Jasmine really wants to
please and is a great student.
She is learning how to fetch and loves rough housing with the other dogs. She is submissive with the other dogs
and gets along with everyone. She is curious with cats but prefers to be on the opposite side of the room. She is
learning to sit, to stay, to come and to down.
She adores children and will make a fabulous family companion. She loves to be with her humans and settles right
into family activities. Jasmine has been vaccinated, spayed and micro-chipped and is ready for her new 'furever'
home.

Kirby is a very nice dog, who does well with other dogs and cats, and likes children. She is housetrained and
knows basic commands.
Kirby is a sweet, quiet Springer from the Caldwell, Idaho shelter. She came to the shelter when her owner went to
prison. She just got spayed and up to date on shots and preventatives. She has a temporary foster home now, and
is coming to Spokane on September 13 for foster care.
In Spokane, she'll get groomed. I can't wait to post photos of her after her makeover. The volunteers who've met
her say she is just a doll, and after more time with her, we can report more about her personality and her
favorite things.
Update 15 SEP 08: Kirby has arrived in Spokane and we are glad to see her! She was so wiggly and happy to meet
us. She adores children. She loves playing fetch with a ball and likes going for walks. She gets along well with
other animals, even other Alpha females. She's truly a nice girl.
She was shaved down to reveal a glossy coat underneath and a few extra pounds. Kirby is 54 pounds, and should be
about 47 pounds. Who isn't 7 pounds overweight, anyway? With her new nutritious food and exercise, she should be
trim in no time.
The only health condition we are watching is her paws. Kirby had embedded cheet grass which had abcessed. It's
been treated at the vet, but it made her paws very sore. We are washing her paws with a surgical scrub and she
has antibiotics. Hopefully that is the end of the cheet grass! She was very docile at the vet office and everyone
enjoyed her.
Kirby is one special dog!

KODA

|
| Age: |
15 months |
| Gender: |
Male |
| Color: |
Liver & White |
| Weight: |
41 lbs |
| Variety: |

Koda is a cuddly little bear. He is the kind of dog who likes to curl up on your lap. He may be 41 pounds, but as
far as he is concerned, he is the perfect lap dog size!
Lthough he is young and would benefit from an obedience class and more training, he is already housetrained and
knows sit. Koda does well with the cats in the home. He does well with the dogs, too, but likes to be Alpha with
the puppy. He would do well with dogs or being the only dog in the household where he can get all the attention.
He was also left alone inside the house for 3 hours and didn't get into any trouble at all! No chewing, no
accidents, nothing!
He is a young healthy little guy, who has had all of his preventatives. His little nose is still pink and he is
developing more freckles. He is still growing into his frame. He has a big head and a little body right now, as
he is so thin. He needs to gain some weight, and with his love of food, he should be a bit heavier in no
time!
He likes to play and he is a lot of fun. He was found as a stray in Pocatello, Idaho, and with the help of the
shelter, was transported to Boise. Then he made the trip up to Spokane to a foster home! Lots of cooperation made
his rescue possible. He was on my lap the entire Pendleton to Spokane trip. That's why his name is Koda. He's
just a cuddly bear!

MADDY

| Color: |

| Weight: |

| Variety: |

If you are looking for a mellow, loving dog who gets along with everyone, you will love Maddy. She enjoys
cuddling and giving kisses. Although everyone is a friend to her, her favorite person is a ten-year-old boy. She
follows him everywhere!
Maddy does well with the three resident dogs in the house, and the other foster dog. She is very nice to the
cats. She's been at family gatherings with large crowds and was very comfortable. She really enjoys little
kids.
Outside, she loves to check out the fenced yard. She loves to be outside and sniff everything. She requires a
fenced yard because she is hearing-impaired. If without supervision, she can wander following her nose to where
ever her nose takes her.
Inside the house she is a dream! She is potty trained, knows basic commands and loves to give cuddles and kisses.
With hand signs only, she knows come, sit, down, and stay. Her ideal home would be willing to learn the hand
commands as she knows them. Maddy is very loving and just requires a stable, patient home.
Maddy has had her fair share of tough times, living with an owner who did not care for her. When the owner was
homeless, Maddy was taken in by a Good Samaritan who agreed to care for her until her owner could get on her
feet. That time never came so they contacted the rescue to see if we could place her.
Maddy is in good health for her age. She has an ear infection which is being treated. She is spayed and up to
date on all preventatives and recently had a dental. Her teeth are pearly white like a puppy's! Maddy gets a
little stiff when she has to jump up high, so she enjoys a food with joint care supplements.
We are so happy to have this darling dog in our care. We know the right home will come along where she can be a
treasured member of the family.

Maggie is a sweet young dog with a very soft and gentle temperament. Her soulful eyes will make you melt.
She does very well with other dogs and pals around with the other foster dog at the household, Shelby. She
follows Shelby everywhere. She needs another dog to play with in her new home. She does OK with cats. Maggie
really likes the little children in the household. She's a bit much for toddlers because she is so enthusiastic,
but she loves them! A home with kids would be ideal.
Maggie is housetrained and knows some basics like Sit, but would benefit from more training and an obedience
class with her new family. She wants to please.
She came to rescue because her older owners could not care for her anymore, and the shelter in their area was not
accepting owner surrenders.
Maggie likes to cuddle next to you and give gentle kisses. She is affectionate and loving and will be a treasured
member of the family.

| Color: |

| Weight: |
40 lbs |
| Variety: |
Field |
Molly is a very sweet girl who loves people. She has a gentle spirit and is a mellow, obedient girl. However, she
came to rescue because she wasn't getting along with the other dog in her household.
In true Springer fashion Molly loves to snuggle with her people. She loves playing outside and exploring any
nature found on the property. In the summer she likes to swim and explore the river bank.
Once Molly gets to know another dog, she does well playing in social situations. She has recently had fun playing
with a puppy. She hasn't had much experience with cats. When we tested her with cats she was slightly afraid, but
we feel that she would do fine in a home with cats once she got used to them.
Molly is housetrained and good during car rides. She is used to living in an area where she can go inside or
outside during the day. She has been trained on an electronic invisible fence system and once she knows her
boundaries does not have to wear the collar.
Molly has spent time with teenagers but has no history with young children. We feel that she would do well in a
home with older children and as the only dog.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Molly.

MOOSE

| Age: |
7 years |
| Gender: |

| Color: |
Liver & White |
| Weight: |
60 lbs |
| Variety: |
Bench |
It's easy to remember an encounter with Moose... he greets everyone with kisses and belly rubs, and then talks in
a happy voice! His top knot curls are adorable. He thinks he is a lap dog, and he truly is a love.
Moose's owner feels that Moose needs a home where he can get more attention. Once there were roommates, a dog,
and a cat, for Moose to play with. Now the owner lives alone with no other pets, works 12-hour shifts, and
travels often on his days off.
Moose isn't anxious when his owner leaves for work, but is calm and used to the routine. When the owner gets
home, Moose just can't get enough of him. The owner feels that he needs a better situation, with someone who is
not too tired to walk him or too busy to play. A family with kids would be heaven for Moose.
Moose would do well in most situations. He is GREAT with kids, even babies. He is very docile around little ones.
He does well with other dogs and really wants a dog companion. He lived with a cat for a time, and was wonderful
with the cat, although he'd occasionally chase a strange cat.
He loves hanging out in the fenced yard, or on any of the doggie beds inside. He's housetrained and will
definitely let you know by pacing at the door if he has to go. He knows sit, stay, down, etc. and comes to his
name.
He will never be a watch dog. He was glad to meet me and immediately greeted me with cuddles. When he gets
excited, he talks in the cutest little voice! He is a super affectionate dog and very gentle for being a Moose of
a dog. He's a bit on the chubby side, maybe could lose 5 pounds or so, but naturally stocky. He is in good health
and is ready to go.
Moose would do best in a larger family, with a less-hectic schedule, a fenced yard, and another dog. He has so
much love to give and he'd love the opportunity to give his all.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Moose.

OLIVER

35 lbs |
| Variety: |

This little guy is a prince! He is so easygoing and well-behaved. Oliver is one of those dogs who does well in
any situation. He was good when I trimmed his feet... so good that he would hand a paw to me and I didn't have to
hold the leash as we sat outside waiting for his vet appointment. He was a dear at the vet office for
everything.
He is friendly to cats but not overly interested and excited. He greets everyone with a happy wag. Oliver enjoys
children and loves the affection they give. He likes all dogs, even the rowdiest and most intrusive of them, and
stays calm and collected when there are ten strange dogs meeting him at once. In short, he gets along with
everyone.
We've discovered that Oliver is NOT good with cats. He was initially afraid of them but is now showing a prey
drive toward them. Oliver needs a NO CAT home.
He is a small little guy who could stand to put on a bit more weight, but he does have petite bone structure, so
would be around 40 pounds. He has great markings and the cutest little face, and I am sure we will find even more
freckles when he gets a Springer cut. His coat wasn't in bad shape so we haven't groomed him yet. He is in good
health: neutered, up to date on everything, no ear infections, nothing to note.
Oliver likes to ride in the car and walks nicely on a leash. I don't know if he is housetrained yet, but he will
be in a few days, if not. I imagine that he is. He does know Sit and takes treats gently.
He was found as a stray in Post Falls, Idaho, and was not claimed at the shelter. He was a favorite of the
shelter staff, and we can see why. He is just so sweet.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Oliver.

Shelby is one of those dogs that is bursting with personality. She's only been in foster care for a few days, but
it's easy to see her zest for life and clownish antics.
When she plays, she plays hard! She romps and jumps and body slams! She leaps with her favorite toy in her mouth
and bounces around! When she relaxes, she knows how to get the most of it. On a four-hour drive, she spent the
entire time snoring with her face pressed against the driver's side. When Shelby says hi, you know you've been
greeted. It's the classic, OH MY GOSH, YOU'RE HERE! look with kisses.
Shelby is being fostered with other dogs and cats. She is doing fine with both. She doesn't like sharing her
toys, but she never does anything more than a short growl. She and Maggie, the other foster dog, are two peas in
a pod.
She loves the kids in the household but would do better with older kids, over 5 years old. She is still learning
not to jump up. Shelby would benefit from an obedience class and more one-on-one training. She is housebroken but
is still learning her name and some of the other commands.
Shelby was found as a stray in Canyon County, Idaho. She was taken to Spokane where we have more foster homes and
adopters.
Shelby's perfect home would include another dog to play with, a fenced yard, and owners with a sense of humor,
because this girl can make you laugh.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Shelby.

ATTENTION!! SPORT CAN NOW BE PLACED WITH OTHER DOGS!
Sport's foster mom says he has done wonderfully with all the dogs in Doggie Daycare, and has welcomed the new
dogs. The last several weeks have been completely fine with dogs coming and going, dogs of all sizes and breeds,
and even intact males. He plays with other dogs, and he shares his foster mom without a problem now. We now feel
that he would do OK with another nice dog, and he may just need a bit of time to get secure and settle in.
Although Sport had a socialization problem in the beginning of his time in rescue, things have totally
changed.
So far, we have had only one applicant interested in Sport. We just don't understand it... he is such a loving
dog. He's the kind of dog that sits quietly at your side and nuzzles his head against you. Sport is the ultimate
family dog. He is all about being part of family outings, whether it's hanging out at a barbeque or while you
rake the yard. He loves Foster Mom, Dad, and older kids. He is very friendly and comfortable with everyone and
wants to be part of the action. He definitely cannot be in a farm environment or in a home with a cat.
Sport has very nice manners. He comes when called, even if he is in the middle of chasing the cat. He listens
well and wants to please. He knows sit and does it a lot. He does not know stay, as I found out when trying to
take his picture. He will sit, and then scoot over to you for love. He is housetrained and gets in no
trouble.
He is very good off-leash, although we don't let him off-leash for long periods this new in foster care. When he
is out of the fenced yard and off a leash, he stays very close and has great recall.
We got Sport from a Boise-area shelter. He was turned in by his owner for being too hyper. Although Sport is
energetic, he settles down well and really listens. The owner must not have been suited for a Springer, because
this is a NICE dog. He is neutered and up to date on vaccinations, and is in good health. He's athletic and
muscular and right at his perfect weight. He was so matted that I had to shave his entire coat off, but his fur
is very soft and will grow back nicely.
What Sport would like more than anything is time with his family. He is extremely loving. He will run around with
you outside and then cuddle up at your side and rest his head in your lap. He will be a good addition to a
family; however we have decided that Sport would do better with older kids, ages ten and up, only. He has been
playful and mouthy, and needs more training. He is also more exuberant as he gets comfortable, and just too
bouncy for younger kids. He is very special and will be the most loyal dog for someone.
Sport is a sweetheart and he's ready for someone to make him part of the family.
Update 26 JUL 08: Recently, Sport went out of town to meet potential adopters, and then stayed a few days at
another foster home. He was so sad, being away from his family (his current foster home). It made me see that
Sport is going to have a real adjustment when he gets adopted, no matter how wonderful the new family is. Poor
Sport has only known love in his foster home, where he's been for 3 months. So the new home needs to be patient
and understanding and know that he will grieve a bit when separated from his foster mom. He will need reassurance
and extra TLC. The upside of a dog who is so loyal and loves so completely is that you have a wonderful
companion. The downside is that it's hard for him to be bounced around. The foster mom is not adopting; she knows
that there are always dogs waiting to come into her home that need our help. So it's up to us to find the most
loving home ever for Sport. If you are considering Sport, please think about the extra love he'll need those
first few days, separated from his foster mom. Thank you.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Sport.

Take a look at our Tex now!
Tex is a darling little boy who recovered from encephalitis earlier this spring. He is an ESRA Special Needs dog.
Please see his Special Needs page to learn more about Tex. Then you can appreciate how wonderful he looks and
feels at this point.
Tex's vision has partially restored, so he gets around like a pro in the house. His leg strength has improved so
much that it's unbelievable.
Tex enjoys life immensely. Every day is a good day for Tex. He can romp and jump and swim! He absolutely loves
other dogs and enjoys playing.
Tex loves all people and will go up to anyone to say hi. Recently he attended a Springer volunteer picnic and he
visited with every person there! It's hard to find a cuter, sweeter fellow than our Tex.
He'll need a house without a lot of stairs (or the use of a baby gate), and he'll need a securely fenced yard. He
does well relying on another dog to show him the ropes. His bladder control has returned and he can hold it for
about four hours at a time. He does need someone who works part-time or who can come home and let him go potty
during their lunch break, or maybe a doggie door with some training. He'd love to be with someone home more
often.
Tex is doing much better medically, but will be unable to have vaccines. So shipping him anywhere is not a
possibility. He will need to stay in the Northwest, within driving distance.
Tex is our little miracle and we are thrilled that he is doing so well.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Tex.

Molly is a beautiful two-year-old Springer Spaniel. She is spayed and current on all her vaccinations. Molly
would like an active home and loves to hunt birds in the back yard. She sure can flush those robins right out of
the tree!
Molly is a very well behaved dog in the house, and is an easy dog to have around. Molly knows Sit, Down, Go Lay
Down, and "Do you want to go outside?". She is housetrained, and gets along with other dogs.
Molly would do best with a gentle leader because she is always looking to find those birds. Molly could still use
some leash training. She loves the water and really likes the kiddie pool. The kiddie pool comes in handy for
cooling off the paws after chasing all those birds. Molly also likes playing with a ball and used to steal golf
balls off the golf course. Molly likes being a busy girl. Molly takes her treats very gently and seems to like
men the best.
Molly would do best in a active home with adults, and children 13 or older.
