ESRA#: 2007-907AL
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-02-04

Age: 17 months
Gender: Female
Color: Black & White
Weight: 23 lbs
Variety: Bench
Look out world! Here I come and I am stealing hearts everywhere I go! I came into rescue with several of my kin folks from a situation where there were just too many of us to care for. I am loving every minute of my new life! I love to play, play, and play some more with my big brother. He lets me run after him and nip, nip, nip on his ears, legs, and tail, then we play tug, then I chase him around the yard and then we collapse and cuddle up for nap time! I love toys, especially chew toys, and if available I like to chew paper too! I sleep all night not even crated and I am working hard on my housetraining, but do need frequent trips outside. I get excited just being with my foster mom and I jump up and up and up to get her attention and petting. I will be ready for my new forever home in a couple of weeks....wouldn't I look darling underneath your Christmas tree? Love, Buffy
Buffy's foster mom writes: Buffy is just adorable. It's so much fun to watch her run, her gait is just gorgeous and she is so happy! She is lovable and cuddly. Like most pups she will need supervision, attention, and training with her new family. She has the potential to be a wonderful family member.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Buffy.

Run's like the Wind

ESRA#: 2008-452AL
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-06-16

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 40 lbs
Variety: Bench

Hi,

I'm Dan. My family had to move and I couldn’t go with them. I was sad, but I’ve found lots of new happiness in my foster home.

Weighing in at a sleek 40 lbs, my long legs and big feet make me fierce competition as I chase the squirrels and birds across the yard. I can leap the deck steps in a single bound and my foster mom says she’s the fastest she’s ever seen. I love to feel the wind in my long ears. My foster sister likes to chase a ball, but I think it's more fun to chase her.

Mom says I’m a good boy with fine house manners. Although I’ve been outside for the last several months, I’m learning to be good in the house again and love to sleep on my soft, fluffy dog bed. Sometimes, when she’s not looking I steal a nap on the sofa (shh!)

I'm refraining from counter surfing and working on eating only my own food and treats. I can sit and shake for a treat and am learning not to take my foster-sister’s treats. I love to run and play and like to follow my new people wherever they go.

I’m just an ol’ softy at heart and really want to petted and loved. I do miss the little people (ages three and six) that I lived with before. They were fun to play with and good about dropping snacks on the floor for me. I hope someday I’ll get to live with little ones again, or maybe another sibling with four legs like me.

Mom says I have something called allergies. When they're under control I’ll feel better and have a beautiful thick coat worthy of my perfect Springer markings. Boy, I can’t wait.

Stay tuned and check back often; I’m going to be a center-fold Springer just in time to meet a new forever family!

Woof!
Dan

ESRA#: 2007-744AL
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-02-04

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Color: Tricolor
Weight: 38 lbs
Variety: Bench
11/14/07 New Pictures.: Danny's a real laid back springer. It's amazing how much springers love to sleep on their backs and Danny is no exception.
9/23/07: Wow, what can we say. Danny has turned out to be one of the sweetest Springers his foster mom has ever known. He has just recently moved from his temporary foster home into a longer term foster home and has proven himself to be easy going and just gets along with everyone. He is now living with 3 children ages 12,10 and 6 and is really good with them. He doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body with people or other animals. He really wants to play and will tug on clothing from time to time to get the play started but his foster family is discouraging this behavior. He is also showing great improvement on his leash walking.

Danny really wants to play with the two 10 yr old resident female Springers but they are not interested and sometimes a little grumpy about their possessions with him. He would really like another doggie playmate and somebody to be his buddy. He is also living with a 15 yr old cat and is doing wonderful with her. Of course, he would like her to play with him too but no luck.

Danny has been sleeping bedside at night on a dog bed along with the resident Springers and is doing great with that. He still has a crate available and is being fed there as a reminder that good things happen in the crate. He also loves to curl up on your lap and to sleep curled up on a bean bag chair.

This delightful fellow is ready for his forever home where he can soak up all of the attention he was missing in his previous life. His foster mom thinks he is a keeper but knows that he will be happier either with another dog as a playmate or soaking up all of the love and attention from his new family.

DUFFY
Huntsville, AL

dogpic

ESRA#: 2006-688SC
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-08-25

Age: 3 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 50 lbs
Variety: Bench
Just look at this cute little boy! Duffy is a sweetheart and oh so well trained. He knows all of his commands plus a few extra.

Duffy is coming back to ESRA because of a tragic event in the family. He has been so well loved and his owner is heartbroken to let him go but knows that this is best for Duffy as he is not getting the attention and exercise that he needs and craves.

Mr. Duffy just loves to meet new people and craves their attention. He also loves other dogs and his owner feels that he would be happier living with another dog playmate. He doesn't really have much experience with cats. He is living with an eight year old child now and is great with her. He might knock a toddler down even though he wouldn't mean to, he just gets a little excited.

Duffy is completely house trained, doesn't dig, chew inappropriate items, or counter surf. He has had clicker training and knows sit, down, stay, come, place, go, and touch. If you say bang, he will play dead.

Duffy hasn't ever been a fan of the crate but he doesn't need one as he has full rein of the house with no problems. He is pretty good on leash and does really well in the car as he has taken longer trips with the family.

This sweet boy loves to go walking through the woods, playing keep away and doing his little play growl.

Could this be the good little boy you've been looking for all of your life?

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Duffy.

Gaining Needed Weight

ESRA#: 2008-344GA
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-08-04

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 50 lbs
Variety: Field
5/18/08: Gordon is doing well, he has put on some much needed weight. He's looking better and gaining energy.

4/20/08: Gordon is a character. Lots of springer spunk and tons of puppy energy. He has obviously had some training, he is very obedient as well as housetrained. He is affectionate and loving with his people, but his main goal in life is to play, play, play.

He came into rescue a little thin and run down, but is certainly gaining his energy back now! He has been successfully treated for heartworms and is neutered. He is good with cats, but because of his time on his own, he is somewhat possessive of his food and would probably be happiest either with no children or older children.

Gordon is looking for a family with an active lifestyle that would include him and possibly with a canine playmate to help burn off that springer energy.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Gordon.

Adorable Gypsy Girl

Likes Kids, Cats, & Dogs

ESRA#: 2008-722AL
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-09-07

Age: 17 months
Gender: Female
Color: Black & White
Weight: 30 lbs
Variety: Field
Poor Gypsy was left in the night drop off kennel at an Alabama shelter with no note. What could have happened that this sweet little girl was no longer wanted? It's all okay now, Gypsy Girl is safe in an Alabama ESRA foster home. She's enjoying every minute of it.

Gypsy had apparently been an outside dog, she was covered with fleas and ticks. She is now spayed, up to date on her vaccinations and heartworm negative. Yeah! She is in her foster home learning all about the good life of being an inside dog. Her foster mom is working on house training and she is progressing nicely in that department. She doesn't chew inappropriate items and her overall manners are very good.

Gypsy has an excellent temperament with people and gets along well with other dogs and cats. It was reported by the rescue group who pulled her for us that she was good with children too.

This runs like a Greyhound. When happy, she runs, stops, spins and jumps in the air. An absolute joy to see. She has a pink furry lamb that she adores. She also has a full tail that wags and wags (foster mom finds it adorable.)

Being on the smaller side at 30 lbs, this little girl would fit into nearly any situation where she is getting lots of love, attention and exercise.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Gypsy.

JOSIE
Huntsville, AL

ESRA#: 2008-374AL

Age: 3 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 35 lbs

6/10/08 Update:

Every dog that comes into our care is special in their own way. They might need a little extra love to help them heal from the death of a beloved owner, or they may need some extra assurance that you will never let them go astray again. We love them, we heal them and we send them on their way to their forever homes.

And little Josie came to us for healing. Josie was relinquished by a family with small children who were a little rough when playing with Josie. Josie gets an "A' for her temperament with children. However, she came into our care with a broken leg that had not completly healed and nobody knows how it happened.

Josie's elbow was essentially crushed but don't tell her that because she still gets around just fine. Her leg was in a cast for several weeks and she now will use that leg to paw at her foster mom for a little loving or to try to get the other dogs to play with her. Of course, it is hard to resist giving this girl a little affection. She runs with ease and the only time you can see any type of limp is when she walks. She can do anything any other dog can do and is in no pain.

Josie is a small dog with impeccable house manners. She is completely potty trained and will let you know when she needs to go outside and somehow she manages this with quiet grace as she is too dignified to bark. She is a very easy dog and does not whine, bark or complain. She asks for no extra attention yet is always your constant companion and has so much love to give. She really just wants to be where you are but will wait patiently if you are busy with other tasks.

While Josie definitely enjoys the comforts of home, a little fresh air can do a girl some good. Josie loves to be outside and enjoys a good squirrel chase every now and again. A fenced yard is likely best for this girl as her foster mom suspects she might want a good squirrel chase if given the chance.

As for getting along with other dogs, Josie had one little argument with one of the resident dogs when she first arrived which is normal for a new foster coming in to an established doggie family. She soon settled in and now really enjoys the company of the other dogs of all sizes in her foster home. Before coming to ESRA's care, she lived with 2 other dogs and did just fine. She has also ignored cats she met at the vet office.

Josie's foster mom has fostered lots of Springers over the years and this sweet little girl is at the top of her list of favorites. Josie would fit in with just about any family situation because of her easy going nature. If you have a place in your heart and home, Josie would show you her gratitude every single day by being your loyal companion.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Josie.

KATIE
Birmingham, AL

dogpic

dogpic

ESRA#: 2008-541AL
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-08-12

Age: 5 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 40 lbs
Variety: Bench
There are many dogs that come our way each day that just need a little help to get to their forever home and sweet little Katie is no different. She was turned into the shelter by her owner due to some leaking of urine which happens sometimes with female dogs. The shelter was quite full and they knew Katie might not have a chance if ESRA did not take her. There was no hesitation from her foster mom to get in the car and drive over an hour to go pull her and get her the medical care that she needed. There are usually two kinds of medications for this and it takes a little while to find out which one works or if both are needed. They are very inexpensive and easy to give. There has been much improvement in this area and we believe we might be getting to the answer of the correct meds and dosage.

Katie arrived at her foster home needing a good bath, some tender loving care and matts removed. This little girl has taken all of this in stride. She has become very bonded with her foster mom and shows the true meaning of Velcro Springer. Because she bonded so quickly, her foster mom believes she will bond quickly with anybody that loves her and gives her affection. She loves all people that she meets and believes that they are all there just to see her. Although not usually allowed on furniture, her foster dad has been caught holding Katie on his lap and stroking her tummy which is Katie's favorite position. She would love for you to rub her belly for hours on end and gives the cutest snort and purr. Afterwards, you get a kiss on the hand to say thank you.

Alabama thunderstorms can be quite frightening sometimes and this little girl is not crazy about them at all. She is not in a panic or destructive but will go to her crate or under a table to feel safe from the scary thunder. She loves her crate and will go in on her own just to take a snooze. She is a little timid in new situations and her foster parents are working on building her confidence. While okay meeting other dogs, she might lift her lip at them if she feels threatened. It has been found that Katie is the type of dog that loves all of the people attention for herself and will butt in on the attention if it is being given to another dog. A sign of a true Princess.

Although Katie does not need a ton of exercise like most Springers, she does enjoy going for walks and tends to go potty more quickly when out on a leash. She has shown no prey drive so far and seemed afraid of kittens that she saw crated at the vet office. She would probably do fine with cats.

Miss Katie would love to go to a home where she can totally be loved and give so much love in return. If you are looking for a low key girl to love and snuggle with here she is.

Although she is not quite ready to go to her forever home, with continued improvement on her bladder issues, that may be soon.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Katie.

MAGGIE
Huntsville, AL

dogpic

dogpic

ESRA#: 2007-830AL
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-01-28

Age: 8 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver and white
Weight: 48 lbs
Variety: Bench
12/23/07: Maggie's foster dad says:
The first thing people say when they see Maggie is how beautiful she is. She has the look of a genuine show dog. Her massive feet look like they are covered by tall silky white stockings and curls. My favorite feature is her huge eyes that she uses to her advantage.

Maggie is not only physically beautiful, her personality will charm you as well. She gets excited when the alarm goes off in the morning and when she thinks you are leaving the house because she loves to ride in the car. She is the perfect dog for a walk on the leash, she is patient and loves to stay near you. Unlike most dogs who will paw you when they need attention Maggie will lie by your feet or sit next to you and gaze deep into your eyes until you can't help but love on her for a while.

Maggie would make the perfect dog for someone without any other pets, who doesn't want the hassle of a puppy. She will immediately become your best friend and always be ready to ride, play, or just relax with you in the kitchen or by the t.v.

11/01/07:
Hi,
My name is Maggie and my last owner gave me up because her cats didn't like me. Can you believe that? I like cats and especially kids because I used to have one that was hyperactive and got me all excited! I am very gentle, loving, and quite calm for a Springer. I like to talk to my foster mom with groans, little whimpy growling noises, and sometimes we sing woo-woo-woo to each other. I love attention but do not demand too much and will follow you from room to room to be near you. I am crate trained, house trained, leash trained, never get on the furniture, do not counter surf, love to ride in the car and excellent with the groomer. I would probably prefer to be the only dog but I eventually get along with the rest of the pack just fine after I let them know who I think the boss is. I get my teeth cleaned soon and I need special medicine that treats my incontinence (whatever that is) but my foster mom is really happy it is cured. I don't like others to touch my food but I'll walk away from it if you call to me. I would really like a forever home and just one more family to love me the rest of my days. Love, Maggie

ESRA#: 2007-934AL
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-01-28

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver and white
Weight: 50 lbs
Variety: Bench
Manchester is a handsome one year-old, a very smart and utterly endearing young fellow. In mid-November he was among the dogs relinquished to ESRA by an owner who could not care for all of them and this boy is a real prize. Chet had never been inside a house or had much contact with people – only other dogs, never been taught his name, never had any training whatsoever. He was so shy of people he cowered when approached. He is now healthy and neutered. He understands no, is almost house trained – no accidents for more than a week. He very quickly mastered the unknown stairs and doors, has learned to open the screen door which the resident Springer cannot even do; his foster parents think he is exceptionally intelligent. Best of all his merry Springer personality is emerging and he is becoming the happy exuberant pup he is supposed to be. He dances with glee when his foster mom comes home, loves to be petted and brushed, gives shy kisses and responds so hopefully to love that he melts your heart. Outside playtime for Chet with dogs and people and balls and toys is truly joyful and clearly so good for him that even his aging foster parents are inspired to extra effort. But Chet really deserves a younger family. Chet is still tentative with people; he will need more time to know and trust them; from the beginning he attached himself to his foster brother, preferring Bo’s company to his two-footed folks. He sticks to Bo like glue and copies him, goes where he goes, does what he does and sleeps with his nose touching Bo, but at daylight every morning he comes to his foster mom’s bedside and kisses her hand. Chet is responding now to loving people and is ready for his forever family and ideally he would not be an only dog. Like any puppy he needs training, and he is so very smart and eager he needs it soon. Manchester is a lovely young Springer to dream about, good looks, good carri age, keen intelligence, special personality. A loving home for him will bring so much happiness and love to his people.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Manchester.

ESRA#: 2008-421AL
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-07-31

Age: 1 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 40 lbs
Variety: Field
Sam has just found his way into ESRA from a shelter in Alabama where his owner left him. She said he was too much to handle.

So far he appears to be a typical one year old springer who has not had much training or direction. He is energetic and affectionate and loves to be outside where he can track critter scents and flush birdies.

Sam is headed to the vet for his neutering and we will update as we learn more about him.

5/16/08:

All boy, full of energy, heart, and so much to give. Strikes me as a
dog who needs a job, he is a natural hunter and works beautifully in my very large field. He has a fantastic nose and tracks effortlessly. Springing and flushing birds, just simply great to see--and it makes him so happy. Therapy work would suit his more loving, sweeter side, but this boy wants to be active.

Sam is house trained and for the most part does well in a crate. He probably should be in a one dog household unless the other dog is very submissive. He seems to just ignore cats. Sam loves people. On our training walks he has met folks from toddler to senior citizens. He is unfailingly polite in meeting them all. He has learned to sit and we are working on more basic commands and leash walking.

Sam is engaging, sweet, curious, funny and quite handsome. Please consider him for your life, he deserves a forever home with folks who love him.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Sam.

10/12/07:
Hi everyone!
Disney here just wanting to let you know that I am getting along well in fostercare, but I really would like to find my forever home! I thought it might help if I told you a little more about myself.

I am house trained and crate trained. My foster parents leave me out with the other dogs when they go away and I do just great! So if you would like a dog that can stay in a crate if needed but does fine without one, I'm your gal!

I like to ride in the car and play with my human foster sister who is seven. I get along very well with the other dogs and cats in my foster home. I love to go outside and play alot so a forever home with a fenced backyard would be great! If you had a doggie door so I could come in and out as I wanted that would be even better! But if you don't thats fine too, I'll let you know when I am ready to come back in. My foster parents say I am a very sweet girl, very smart and easy going.

I'll be waiting!
Disney

Note from Disney's foster mom: Disney will make someone a very very special companion. She is very well mannered and one of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen! In case you are wondering how she got her name take a look at the liver spot on her side its shaped alot like Mickey Mouse and she has another nearly exactly like it on the other side. Also when you meet her you will notice what clean lines and features she has. The white on her coat is so bright it nearly glows and the liver coloring is so rich just like her personality.

8/27/07: Beautiful Disney came to us as a stray from a local shelter. So far, she is a very pretty, sweet little gal. We'll have more updates on Disney as soon as we get to know her, so stay tuned!

2/24/08: Baylee has gotten her all clear for the heart worms. She's HW free. Next week she will be spayed. Her vet has advised us not to do the second chain mastectomy because the lab results done on the previous ones were negative.

Hi,

My name is Baylee. I am about 3-4 years old. I was found wandering the streets in Winter Haven. Animal control picked me up, then my ESRA foster dad came and got me. Two hours later, we got to his home where I met my foster brother and sister. Foster dad gave me three baths that day, I was so grateful!

Next foster dad took me to the vet. I had tumors on my breasts, was heart worm positive, and had intestinal worms. After a chain mastectomy to remove five breasts, I got to go home again. Right now, I am about 2/3 through my heart worm treatment. Then I have to have my other breasts removed and be spayed.

Wow, this has been a long battle, but I'm doing well. I was way too thin, but I've gained some weight. My foster dad reassures me and keeps me calm, which is hard, because I have so much energy and feel so much better.

I am a very sweet little girl. I like other dogs. My foster sister rules the roost, but I like to have some fun and give her a hard time about it once in a while. I also like to chase the cat, given the chance. I don't counter surf or attack trash cans or any of that stuff. I like to sleep on the couch, but don't get in the bed. I bark if someone knocks or rings the bell, just in case my foster dad didn't hear it. I like car rides, but it would be nice if I got to go somewhere besides the vet.

I am quite a looker, if I do say so myself. I have been trying to get my foster dad to fail fostering 101, but he thinks I would do better with someone who has more free time. A home with other dogs would be fine, but cats might not be so good. Just give me a chance, I'll melt your heart. :)

Love,

Baylee

Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-02-29

Age: 6 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 38 lbs
Variety: Field
Birdie was brought in to the local animal shelter in Melbourne as a stray. She is a field bred springer with a full tail. Her fur is silky without a lot a feathering. She gets along fine with our male and female springers and with our six month old cat. The cat likes to play with her tail, but Birdie doesn't seem to mind. She just tries to ignore the cat and tuck her tail out of sight. We haven't seen her with children but based on the way she reacts to the cat, I wouldn't expect any problems.

Birdie is crated when we are not home. She whines until we are out of sight and then she settles down. I have seen her go in the crate on her own to sleep even when we are home. She is house trained.

Birdie is as sweet as they come! You will fall in love with this girl the moment you meet her. As of now, she still hasn't barked. I took her to my office and she just laid down under my desk at my feet. This girl would be a good fit for anyone, especially an older person who wants a companion that doesn't demand a lot of exercise.

Birdie is heart worm negative, spayed, and up to date on her shots.

Boomer is a healthy, typical springer pup with lots and lots of energy. His previous owner was not able to handle his energy level, nor his jumping up. However, when he did jump, the owner gave him a treat. So, Boomer naturally thought that was O.K. to do, since he got rewarded.

Boomer appears to have been socialized well so far. He does not go potty in his kennel run, so he may be housetrained. He is up to date on all his shots, and has been neutered. A sweet guy deserving of a forever home that can match his energy level.

Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-05-23

Age: 14 months
Gender: Male
Color: Black & White
Weight: 25 lbs
Variety: Bench
Hi,

I’m Bradley! And, I’m about the happiest, cutest, sweetest and
smartest Springer puppy you will ever meet!

My foster family picked me up from animal control because I somehow escaped from my home and got lost. Animal control was a scary place and there is a very slim chance that I could have been exposed to the nasty parvovirus while I was incarcerated. So as a precaution, I’ll just have to hang out with my foster family for the next ten days, but after that I’m free to be adopted and loved by my new forever family. I’m counting the days, and I am well worth the brief wait!

Enough about the past, let’s just move on to the important stuff – me! My foster mom says she could just squeeze me because I’m so cute and precious! I am a handsome black and white Springer (about four to six months old) with great markings and a beautiful full tail. I’m very sweet, gentle, well behaved and calm. And I love everyone including all animals and children, and am afraid of nothing! In fact, my foster mom keeps asking me if maybe I got lost because I’m so friendly and social that I followed a stranger and forgot my way back home.

I love to go for walks and play outside, but also love being inside of the house
snuggling with someone. And, I’m already pretty smart for a puppy my age! I know several commands, sometimes! But, I really am trying hard to learn and please! I’m house trained (pretty much), and don’t chew on anything (so far) but my raw hide bones! I love dog treats, but instead of eating them I like the challenge of finding a good place to hide them! That’s much more fun and assures me that I’ll have a treat to look forward to enjoying later!

O.K., that’s my story so if you want to know more about me just send an email
message to my foster mom….I’m waiting to hear from you!

Love,

Bradley

Pretty Girl

dogpic

ESRA#: 2008-251FL
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-06-04

Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
Color: Black & White
Weight: 38 lbs
Variety: Bench
Breezee was purchased as a show dog from a springer breeder up north. She is however, shy of the ring and refuses to show. So she is now spayed. She does not get along with other dogs and is living with her owner and four other dogs. She has never shown any aggressive behavior towards people, she's just a bit shy.

Breezee is a purebred springer, born 10/04/06. She is housetrained, crate trained, and good in the car (she is used to going to shows.) She is very loving with people after she meets them, usually within ten minutes! She sits, stays, does the paw, downs and comes. Breezee loves to play fetch and tug of war. She loves her chew toys and has a little bed that she naps on.

She is leash trained and good on the grooming table. Not particularly fond of getting her nails clipped, but does not bite. She has a hearty appetite, runs like the wind, and jumps a three foot fence. She barks very little (only when the doorbell rings). She goes to the door when she needs out, and goes potty on command. She swims and loves to float in the pool on the raft.

She gets along with the intact male in her home, because he is the pack leader. She loves to run with him, they play and chase each other. Also, she grew up with him and is used to him. She also howls like a wolf is she is lonely.

Breezee would do best in a home without any other dogs or any cats. She needs a big fenced in yard for exercise. She likes long walks on the lead. When another dog or a stranger passes, she behaves if you tell her “be nice” and give her a little tug on the lead.

Breezee loves cookie time and belly rubs. She's so addicted to them, she will turn on her back every time you pet her. Her coat is thick and lush and glossy. She is very intelligent, obedient and loving.

Breeze is in perfect health. She is on heartworm, flea and tick preventative. She is a lovely springer, great companion, and very deserving of a good forever home.

Please read the Adoption FAQ for more information about adopting Breezee.

Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-01-28

Age: 6 years
Gender: Female
Color: Black and white
Weight: 43 lbs
Variety: Bench

A timid and gentle soul, pretty CJ is learning about being a companion animal. She appears to not have experienced much of the world outside of birthing puppies, but her confidence is building day by day.

CJ's a non intrusive velcro dog, wanting to be near her people but not demanding much of them. She is content to be close by and to accept affection that is offered. Treats were a mystery to her, but she now nibbles them softly from your hand.

She is housetrained and not at all destructive loose in the home. Occasionally she will peek to see what's on the counter or on your dinner plate. She's good on lead and in the car, lets you clean her ears and handle her feet, but she's terrified of grooming clippers.

CJ is spayed, heartworm negative and up to date on vaccinations. She's a quiet, sad eyed, low keyed girl who would prefer a calm household with no cats or other dogs.

A Snuggle Bunny

ESRA#: 2008-318FL
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-05-23

Age: 8 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 48 lbs
Variety: Bench
Casey is a very sweet, lovable little snuggle bunny. She seems much younger than eight years, has no problem jumping up in her foster mom’s truck when it’s time for a car ride, which she loves. She is great with the groomer, she loves kittys, and she adores children, especially older children.

She is not crate trained, but she doesn’t need one. She did cry for a few minutes when left alone, but quickly settled on the couch for a snooze. She is pretty good on the leash, but when her foster mom brought home a new pink harness, she started running in circles and practically dove into it and ran for the door. She seems so proud of her harness that if you try to take it off, she dives right back into it. It’s a good thing Casey is enjoying all of the walks at her foster home, because she needs to slim down a bit.

She is used to sleeping with her people in a bed, and she has also been allowed on the couch her whole life, so she should really be with people who don’t mind a dog on the furniture. When she is ready for bed at night she wants you to pet her until she falls asleep, and if you stop she will paw at your hand for you to continue. She does lots of tricks and takes treats very gently out of your hand.

She has not lived with other dogs, but does fine when she meets them on her walks. She does jump up on people, but her foster family is working to correct it.

Casey has only had one ear infection her whole life and has great hearing. She does counter surf and she will get into the trash if it is not covered. Also, she will eat toilet paper if someone leaves the bathroom door open.

Casey has been with one family her entire life. They loved her very much, but due to some changes they were not able to give her the time and attention she needs. Although she does fine in the house when left alone, she really needs to be around people and would be best in a situation where she isn’t left alone all day. Older children would be great for Casey, she really loves to be near them. She is the
typical velcro springer.

Other than needing to lose a few pounds, Casey is in good health. Her teeth are nice and sparkly, she loves to run and play. Her skin is a little flaky and a little red, but she doesn’t seem itchy, and now that she is on a good quality food, her skin and coat should improve. She was a little matted and had to be shaved down and looks a little funny, but will be gorgeous when her coat grows back in.

Please read the Adoption FAQ for more information about adopting Casey.

An AKC Champion!

ESRA#: 2008-132FL
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-07-09

Age: 10 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 48 lbs
Variety: Bench
When Chevy was about 4-5 mos old, he was just gorgeous and his owner, (a springer breeder) started training him for the show ring. He exceeded her expectations as a show dog.

He showed the dog world what he was made of every time he walked into that ring. He finished his championship very quickly, in about 6 shows. On his very first day out as a special he did win the breed, and also the group and almost his very first Best In Show. He did this many times. When he retired from the show ring in 2002, he was #10 Springer and #2 sporting dog. He will always be a special dog to anyone who knows him. He loves people.

After finishing his CH, his owner played flyball with him, and that is why he loves playing ball now, and will chase anything that resembles it. He adores children because they can be as silly as he, he is truly a great dog and not because of his winnings, but for who he is inside. Chevy went to live with his owner's daughter and granddaughter, in the Tampa area, who has now relocated to a Condo not allowing pets. He is back with his owner until adopted.

Chevy's owner has yorkies that were given to her, and Chevy doesn't like them one bit, so his owner has asked us to help rehome this nice Ch. springer

It would be best if he is the only dog in the family. He gets along with cats, children and just about anything else (except other dogs)

He loves his walks. He is up to date on shots, and HW negative, and will be a wonderful addition to a one dog home.

Please read the Adoption FAQ for more information about adopting Chevy.

Dreyfus is a rare young springer that can adapt his energy level to what you have going on at the moment. Take him outside in the yard, and he’s the Energizer bunny, bounding after butterflies and chasing squirrels. Bring him inside and sit down on the sofa to watch TV or at the computer to do e-mail, and Dreyfus will quietly curl up on the floor near your feet and nap while you’re busy or relaxing.

Dreyfus is a very happy dog and shows it in his excitement, particularly when his human comes home. He tries very hard to jump into your arms at first (his foster dad is working on discouraging that behavior) but he calms down quickly when he’s given some attention.

Dreyfus came from the Lake County shelter in Tavares and we don’t know anything about his previous history. His fur was heavily matted and so long that the name “Hippie” was considered for him, but rejected after he was shaved down at the groomer. His fur will grow out considerably from his current clipped coat.

Whoever had him before the shelter must have initially taken care of him, as Dreyfus is heartworm negative, housebroken and crate-trained. He also is up-to-date on his shots now and free of parasites and other health problems. He knows sit, down, stay, wait and cross.

Dreyfus is totally housebroken and knows how to use a dog door. He has sniffed at things on the kitchen counter but has not taken anything since he’s been in his foster home. He was only curious about the cat on the counter at the veterinarian’s office and then only after it was pointed out to him. He was not aggressive about the vet’s cat and has not shown untoward interest in the cats we come across on our nightly walks. Dreyfus is crate trained and regularly eats in it and will sleep in it if needed.

Dreyfus prefers to sleep on your bed if he can get away with it after a few nights, but is also very good about staying in his own bed on the floor. Dreyfus is crazy about his walks and does well on them. He likes to explore interesting smells along his route but rarely stretches his 26-foot flexi-leash to its limit unless it’s on the sidewalk straight ahead. He never pulls on his nightly walks, but will pull a little on special trips such as to the dog park.

He's good about staying out of the street while walking parallel to it and is learning to stop and wait for a command to "cross" the street when we come to an intersection. The only problem we've encountered on his walks is on the seldom occasion when he gets his leash wrapped around a tree or streetlight pole, he does need help in getting it untangled.

He's an alert and good watchdog. He lets me know when someone he hears someone approaching the house. Thunderstorms do agitate Dreyfus and his adopter will need to be able to prevent him from going outside during a thunderstorm as he will race outside in an effort to protect the house from the noise.

Dreyfus can be shy when he first meets people, but he does warm up when he realizes he's in a good place with people who genuinely care about him. He had some initial problems with his foster brothers and sister when he first arrived at his foster home, so he would probably do best going to a home where he is the only dog. However, he can adapt to homes with other dogs as long as his adopter is willing to closely supervise Dreyfus until he has settled in and made peace with any other dog in the house.

Please read the Adoption FAQ for more information about adopting Dreyfus.

Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-08-07

Age: 3 years
Gender: Female
Color: Black & White
Weight: 37 lbs
Variety: Field
Darling little Gracie was found as a stray in Tennessee. A good Samaritan took her to a vet's office and they contacted ESRA. She is a good natured, happy little pumpkin. She's smart and eager to please, affectionate but not needy. Nothing is known of her history except she appears to have had a litter.

Gracie is active outside, yet calm and mellow in the house. It's fascinating to watch her muscled little body on critter hunts in the yard. She gets along with other dogs, but would not be good with cats, birds or small mammals. She is working on leash manners and basic commands. She likes playing by herself with toys, but collects them all around her and doesn't want to share. She's a good traveler, and rides well in a car.

Gracie is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and heartworm free.

If you are looking for a dog who will eagerly go hiking and take long walks, then cuddle and watch a movie with you on the couch, she's the one for you.

Meet our new gal Gracie.

She loves: taking car rides, sleeping in bed with you, pretending she doesn't hear her name when you want her to do something she does not care to do, chasing lizards, and absorbing all the attention you can give her.

She gets along well with the other four springers in her foster home (two males and two females).

Gracie comes to us from a family of other dogs, a cat, and a bunny. They rescued her a year ago, vowing to find her a home. Then they had two babies, and although she got along with the babies, it became too much to handle. She is being re-homed so she can get the attention she deserves.

Gracie's vet check came back all good. She was spayed this week, is up to date on her shots, and is heartworm negative.

Will you be Gracie's new forever home?

1/24/08: Kari has moved to Tampa.

All my ESRA friends say I'm a lovely girl who deserves a home that will adore me and appreciate my ladylike qualities. Somehow I ended up at the shelter and was so happy when my ESRA friends came and took me out of there. Since I'm a grown up girl with good manners I wasn't used to all that barking and fussing and was getting a little stressed.

Now that I'm in foster care and have had a haircut, my new friends can see that not only do I have a lovely temperament, I'm also a beautiful girl. Do you like ticking? Well, I've got it! Do you like a wiggle-butt? I've got that, too! Do you like a girl who sits politely by your side? That's me!

I'd love to have a new home with folks of my very own. I'd be happy to share my home with another dog, but I'm fine by myself, too. I'm spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative. I'm ready to go home! Woo-Woo!

3/16/08: NEWS FLASH: NEW PHOTOS!

Kris is all better now! He had corrective surgery on his eyes in February and is completely healed. He shows no signs of the poor sick guy we first saw in December. He looks very handsome with his bright eyes, big smile and shiny silky coat. He’s a typical fun loving Springer boy. He likes to be with his people and is OK with children, showing polite interest, if any.

We’ve gained new insight into Kris’ personality; he needs to be in an active home with lots of exercise or he gets bored! He loves to play with other dogs at the dog park. Tug-o-war is his favorite. He would do great with a family who likes to walk or run on a daily basis. We also suspect Kris might like it if his new family has another kid or two for him to hang out with (four legged or two legged variety).

Kris knows basic obedience but needs a friendly human to help him advance in his training. His foster Mom is working to improve his leash manners and to teach him jumping up on humans is a no-no. He is now up to date on all vaccinations.

2/16/08: Kris came into ESRA's care on Christmas Eve. He had a cold, but he's thriving in foster care. He's gaining weight and will soon be completely well.

Kris has an eyelid problem that may require surgery, but it will be done before he is placed for adoption. He is neutered, heartworm negative and will soon be up to date on his shots.

Kris is a bouncy boy who would do well with older children. He plays well with other dogs, but does guard his food.

If you're looking for a low keyed companion, this is your girl! She's content to lie quietly on her dog bed, as long as it's close to her people. A quiet stroll around the back yard suits her just fine, but she's ready for a walk any time you pick up her leash too. Sadly, she was surrendered by her family who'd had her since puppyhood. They were sad to give her up, but had been accepted into government housing for seniors, and could not take her along.

Lady is an old fashioned looking springer, with beautiful ticking everywhere and sad soulful eyes. She is usually calm and sedate, but wiggles like crazy at dinner time and homecomings. It's so out of character that it makes us laugh.

She is tolerant of children and other dogs, will even play with the young rowdy dogs on occasion. She is housetrained and crate trained, though not destructive and doesn't need to be contained.

Her coat is shiny and thick now that she's overcome some bad patches. She's had several large irritating fatty tumors removed (all benign.) She's a little deaf from a recurrent ear infection, and she runs away when come with ear cleaner. She's good being groomed and in the bath.

She's Heartworm free, up to date on vaccinations, and is spayed. She can still jump into the back of a van on her own. She was a tad...ummm...matronly when she came into our care, but has lost a few pounds.

Are you looking for a quiet companion who isn't demanding at all? If so, Lady is the dog for you!

Please read the Adoption FAQ for more information about adopting Lady.

Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-05-23

Age: 1 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 45 lbs
Variety: Bench
Hi,

My name is Maggie, but I’m affectionately known as Maggie Mae. I’m a typical one year old Springer Spaniel girl: curious, playful, active and sweet. So, I guess you probably want to know why I’m in rescue?

My journey to ESRA began when the dog catcher caught me exploring my city. I guess he wasn’t too happy about it either because he took me straight to jail, without passing GO, and without two hundered biscuits. What a creepy place. Thank goodness I wasn’t there too long before my friends at ESRA came to my rescue.

I’m now safe and happy, but I’m really looking forward to a forever home. I want a family that will give me the love and care that I need and deserve. I haven’t been at my foster home too long, but I've adjusted to the new digs and fallen in love with my Springer foster sister. I just love other dogs and
children, too.

My foster mom thinks I’m a wonderful house guest, no accidents and always well behaved. She loves me and keeps telling me I’m such a very special and beautiful girl. She also told me that I’m a quick study, I’m very smart and just need for someone to give me a little attention.

I love running and playing fetch, or just exploring the backyard alone. What I’d really like is to learn some tricks! When inside of the house I’m always calm. I enjoy and appreciate the special time to be close to my foster family.

Love,
Maggie Mae

Age: 5 years 10 years
Gender: Female Male
Color: Liver & White Liver & White
Weight: 42 lbs 50
Variety: Bench Bench
Mission and Baxter came to ESRA together after their owner passed away. A hospice nurse, felt very sad that the family could not keep these two sweet springers and she took both dogs home herself. She soon realized that adding the dogs to her busy life, working and raising her three children, was too much. So, she called ESRA.

These dogs love to ride. Foster Dad says they run to the door whenever he gets up and then circle his truck as if to say, "when do we get in?" He thinks they must have ridden a lot. Since his job involves driving, he takes them along when he can, and they love it.

Both get along with other dogs or cats.

Mission has been spayed now, and had her teeth cleaned too. She is up to date on her shots and heartworm negative. Foster Dad says she has a bark like a Jack Russell, and likes to use it.

Baxter had a bit of stiffness at first, and is on Metacam. Foster Dad says it is
wonderful, he is like a new dog! He is neutered, up to date on his shots, and has had a few infected teeth removed.

These two dogs love each other, and we are going to try very hard to place them together in one home. Check back for more updates.

Gender: Male

Mr. Spot's Page

Mr. Spot is a happy-go-lucky youngster who is full of life. He loves to race through the yard and fetch balls and toys, even if he has to play by himself. Countersurfing is not one of his talents, but he does enjoy gnawing on a shoe if his people foolishly leave it out for him.

He is housetrained, will tolerate a crate if you insist, and good with children. He likes female dogs better than males, but still has to be reminded to have good manners with them occasionally. Grooming is ok with him and his vet's office thinks he's terrific. Cats are unknown. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm and parasite free.

Sadly, Mr. Spot has hip dysplasia and his vet feels the deterioration is so extreme that he will be in significant pain, with limited mobility, in 4-6 months. Please help us get Mr. Spot the surgery he needs to be able to continue to run free of pain.

Nigel is a healthy young male springer, full of energy. His owner is having a time keeping up with him. She is in her 80's, and has always had springers. So ESRA is stepping in to help rehome this boy.

He requires a lot of exercise, and needs room to run. He is quite strong on leash, but runs when allowed off leash. The community's security guards have had to bring him back from the local golf course a couple times.

He rides well in a car. We do not know about him and cats. He appears to be good with children, and would probably love a forever home with another dog or two for pals.

Nigel is housebroken, on flea and tick preventative, free of heartworm, and up to date on all his shots. He's a typical young, healthy springer.

Niko is crate trained, he is kept in his crate when home alone. He paws the door to go out and may have had a dog door before, because he really likes to go out a lot.

Hi,

My name is PeeJoe. I was left at a boarding facility with my three brothers and sisters. We were taken to the animal shelter where I spent fourteen whole days waiting for my owners to be contacted by mail. My sister, Skylark, another Springer was adopted and I was rescued.

I was dirty and matted pretty bad, so it feels so good to be shaved and clean now! I gave the groomer a big kiss on the cheek after she shaved the matt's off my ears! My foster Mom says she doesn't know why I wasn't adopted, because she has never had a better baby boy better than I am! I don't complain about anything,

I just love to be hugged and loved. I'll let you know when I am ready for another hug, I just put my paw on your arm gently. I haven't met my foster brother or sister yet, since I just had surgery to be neutered and I needed some good rest for a few days. I would love to get to know them since I seem to get along with everyone, including the cats that are here.

The shelter doctor gave me a good clean bill of health, up to date on my shots and I am heartworm negative. I love to ride in the car with the window down so I can stick my head out. I am good on the leash and I'll sleep in the crate if you leave the door open!

My foster Mom says I am sweet, gentle ,quiet and calm, even though I have been
through a lot. We do not have any children here, but I bet I'd love them too!

Woof!
PeeJoe

Hi, My name is Pepper, and don’t let my size or age fool you because I am a very spunky and active Springer; and, boy can I spring! I’m about the sweetest and most loving guy you will ever meet, aside from being the most handsome!

After my owner died I was taken straight to the Port Charlotte Animal Control, complete with my AKC registration and pedigree. I was really grieving until my friends from ESRA rescued me and took me to my new foster home. I just love it here. I have a seven year old Springer foster sister and a fourteen year old kitty foster sister and they are the greatest girls; I really love them and they love me, too. I also love all of my neighbors, even the children, because I’m such a social butterfly!

And, I just can't love my foster mommy enough, I am always doing things to show my appreciation like snuggling and loving. I am always very well behaved and obedient. I'm house trained, stay in a crate while she works everyday and tolerate this thing she calls a "diet." I've lost eight pounds since she put me on it so I guess I shouldn't complain because I do want my athletic body back. About exercise, I'm always ready for a long walk (or just a ride in the car) because activity just keeps me feeling like a young man!

If you have enough love for me please contact my foster mom.
Cheers,
Pepper

ESRA#: 2008-173FL
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-03-21

Age: 4 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 50 lbs
Variety: Field
Ralph's owner is moving, and unable to take him with her. He was
purchased him from a breeder on Florida's East coast. He was born 1/29/2004.

He is a good looking field springer who loves to play. He would really like to be with someone that is home all day, so he wouldn't get bored while they go to work. Presently he is staying in a crate all day while his owner works, as if he gets bored he will chew on a throw rug....never furniture, but throw rugs are a
temptation he can't resist, and only if home alone and not crated, and bored. He is young, and could use a bit more obedience training.

Ralph is housebroken and is very friendly with all other dogs, women and children. He is a bit shy with men. (Owner thinks perhaps their louder voice) but after a bit,he does warm up. He is good at the groomer, and his vet loves him, and would be available to talk to a prospective adopter.

Ralph is not the least bit aggressive, but doesn't like cats. (and,he is living in a neighborhood with quite a few feral cats, and they drive him nuts) Ralph is a very loving, affectionate springer. He enjoys giving you kisses, and crawling up in your lap. He is a bit spoiled, and likes to sleep on your bed. He does not beg at the table, but his meals are very important to him, and he will dance around for breakfast and dinner.

He is healthy, and up to date on his shots. Ralph has a lot of love to give to his new Forever Home.

Please read the Adoption FAQ for more information about adopting Ralph.

Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-04-04

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 43 lbs
Variety: Field
Hello Everyone!

All of you nice people are my friends, I just haven't met you yet.My name is Rascal and I come by it honestly. I tend to like everything you don't want me to have, but it's only to get you to chase me. How else is a dog supposed to demonstrate his world class abilities to dodge and avoid.

My Foster Dad's(FD) house is the first I've ever lived in; so, learning the rules has been a challenge. Foster Dad say's I'm getting it though. I just need a strong leader. Foster Mom (FM) isn't so sure. She say's I've got two things going all the time, my tail and my nose, well duh, I'm a dog! I love my crate, its great for naps. FD says I am a great pet and perhaps the sweetest little dog (43lbs.) he has come across. I love to snuggle, but I am badly in need of training. We are working on it, but FD says I have a lot to learn. When we meet people on our walks, they all say they wish they had room for one more dog because I am so cute, whatever.

What I reallylike is the woods! Take me there, let me run, and you will see a smile on my face. A whole flock of ducks can scare me back to the truck but put me in the woods and I'm a happy dog.

I know what "come" means, it means I get loving and sometimes a treat; but sometimes things just smell, sound or look too good so I don't listen. I'm learning Heel. Jeez that's a tough one. I know sit, but I just don't want to. I'll Give but you have to say it really really nice and be patient. I get along famously with every other dog I've met. My favorites are the ones about my age, they can almost keep up with me.

I am neutered. Just as well, I'm not up for being a Dad, too much responsibility. FM & FD are fixing my ears, they had this smelly gunk in them and hurt, much better now thank you. My coat is very soft. Even though I don't have the stripe on my head like all of those hoity toity Springer's, my all liver face seems to be a hit with every human I come across and I have great markings everywhere else. Not sure what the big deal is about the stripe anyway.

I am HW negative and up to date on my shots.

Woof!

Rufus came to us when a good samaritan intercepted him on his way to the pound. We were initially told he was six months old and his behavior seemed to reinforce this. But the vet says he's a bit older.

Rufus loves to play with other dogs. He is housebroken and knows simple commands like site. He is very thin, but loves to eat so he'll gain weight with the right diet. Hi,

I'm Rumer and I'm looking for a new home. I really want to be a house dog; in my former home they wanted me to stay outside, so I wasn't too happy.

I'm a good girl. I like other dogs a lot and I lived with a cat, so they don't bother me. I really like kids too, they're fun to play with. I just love everybody.

I am crate trained and house broken. I've had all my shots and am spayed too. I am in good health. The only thing is, like a lot of you ladies, I could stand to lose a few pounds!

I graduated from obedience school, but I could benefit from a refresher course. To be honest, I do pull when I'm on the leash.

Well enough about me, please contact ESRA and tell me all aobut you. Can't wait to hear from you,

Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-05-30

Age: 7 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 52 lbs
Variety: Bench
Sara and Sassy came into ESRA's care together from their owner, who could no longer care for them. They were much loved, as evidenced by their ample waistlines.

Sara is the more sedate of the two, being the older sister she has to set a good example. She is house trained, gets along with other dogs and is an easy going companion (unless you're a cat).

Sara is OK in a crate, but really doesn't need one and much prefers the couch. She likes to hold conversations with you to make sure you mean what you say, does the springer woo-woo, and even does the rare but fabulous springer "smile" on occasion.

Sara has a beautiful head and face. Unfortunately, she and Sassy had not been groomed for a while, so most of their coats had to be shaved down, all except the long beautiful ears. Her coat will be gorgeous when it grows back in.

Sara's only fault is that she pulls on lead, and that will just take practice and maybe a Gentle Leader to resolve.

Sara is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and ready for her new home.

Please read the Adoption FAQ for more information about adopting Sara.

Sassy is an adorable little girl who is learning the joys of indoor living.

Sassy is blossoming in her loving foster home. She is initially shy with strangers but warms up quickly. She's mastered the commands “sit”,” down” and has learned to wait patiently at the door for her Foster Mom to exit first. She is also beginning to enjoy her crate.

Sassy is a joy to watch when she plays with her tennis ball and wags her little tail so fast that her whole body wiggles.

This pretty girl likes to be with her humans and would probably be happiest as an only dog. Sassy also needs a fenced yard so she can run and play to her heart’s content.

Sassy is up to date on her shots and is spayed.

Weight: 55 lbs

Sara and Sassy came into ESRA's care together from their owner, who could no longer care for them. They were much loved, as evidenced by their waistlines-or rather, by their lack or them!

Sassy is the spunky spoiled younger (and chunkier) sister. She talks back to you, butt wiggling the whole time, and is more likely to get into mischief. She climbs onto the couch and then goes deaf and limp when you try to remove her. She is learning that it's not ok to sneak past you out the door and gallivant around the neighborhood. She also has a tendency to pull on lead. Some training and discipline will make her a great companion.

Interested in everything, Sassy likes to help whether you need it or not. She gets along with other dogs, but plays like a linebacker, knocking them down and pinning them. She is housetrained and ok with kids. Both girls are excellent while being groomed.

Sassy is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and heartworm free. She's in good health except for being overweight.

Loves People

ESRA#: 2008-516FL
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-07-12

Age: 5 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 50 lbs
Variety: Bench
Snickers is a very well behaved dog and loves to be around active people. He is a beautiful bench bred male with a very smooth coat. He is housebroken and knows most of the normal tricks (sit, stay, rollover, naming objects and “getting” them, etc) He is eager to please, and a very fast learner. His owner loves him very much, but his lifestyle has changed, and he does not have enough time to
devote to him.

Snickers is very friendly and loves to play with people and with other dogs (so much so, he has trouble recognizing when another dog doesn't want to play). He usually shrugs off dogs that bark at him and is very well behaved while on his leash. He is a “fast walker”; not picky with where he gets walked, but he sure loves it. We do not know how he is with cats.

Snickers would do well in a very active home, probably best around children or
others who could give him a lot of attention. He loves to “smile” and have a good time. He definitely likes to be part of the action... and lots of it. He is quite obedient and is most interested in being part of the fun. He does not particularly like to be in a crate. He loves his freedon, and can get bored quickly.

Snickers is neutered, up to date on his shots, and on flea & HW protection. He is good at the groomers and loves to ride in a car. He's ready to go to his new
forever home.

Please read the Adoption FAQ for more information about adopting Snickers.

12/22/07: Sophie is back and her search continues. After being adopted for short time she has returned to ESRA through not fault of her own. Her new parents became quite ill recently and were unable to care for her. Sophie tells me she misses her Human Mom and Dad but is looking forward to an adventure with new Human Fosters near Orlando! She confesses she is hoping to meet Goofy and Pluto, whom she hears live nearby! All eligible Humans should apply!

11/02/07:
SFESS ISO NHs (LTR Desired)*;

Hi, I’m Sophie and this is the first time I’ve ever tried Internet dog-matchmaking. I’m newly single; all my kids are grown and off to new places except for one daughter. The Humans we used to live with couldn’t keep us, so they searched on the Internet and found this dog matchmaking site called English Springer Rescue. Some cool people called The Fosters met us and now we live in a great place called Foster Home.

Gosh, it’s been a whirlwind ever since! We have a Human Mom and new doggy brothers and sisters all with the last name Foster. I’m still getting to know their first names. Foster Mom took me to see Dr Vet where I was ‘fixed’. I didn’t know I was broken but I think it means I won’t be having any more puppies. I am soooo glad because the six I had a few months ago were a handful. Dr Vet also said I am heartworm negative, which Foster Mom said was very good.

Anyway, more about me: I am considered pretty, petite and have regained my slim figure (now that I lost that baby fat). I am a natural white and black girl with nice hair on my ears and feathering where it counts. I know all the right moves like ‘Come’, ‘Sit’, ‘Stay’ and ‘Shake’. I’m a bit shy at first until I get to know you, then we can be best friends. I’m on the quiet side, but will let you know if a stranger comes to the door.
My ideal Human match is a monogamous one, i.e. they would prefer me to be their only dog. They like long walks in the neighborhood or on the beach or just quiet evenings at home snuggling. Human brothers or sisters are OK but I’d like them to be a little older.
I am ready for a new Human to come into my life. Are you ready for me to be your one and only? I know you’re out there, please email my Foster Mom if you think you’re the person or people for me—but only if you’re nice! Love,Sophie

* Single Female English Springer Spaniel In Search Of Nice Humans. Long Term Relationship Desired

Sophie’s foster Mom reports she’s a sweet, loving and well mannered girl. She is house and crate trained. She is up to date on vaccines, spayed and heartworm negative. She rides OK in the car and was a good girl at the vet. Sophie is eager to please and catches on fast. Sophie has been through a lot in her short life and would be best as an only dog. Sophie’s mate, Mr. Spots is also posted for adoption, as is one of her 12 week old puppies, Sarah.

Please read the Adoption FAQ for more information about adopting Sophie.

ESRA#: 2008-312KY
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-05-30

Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
Color: Black & White
Weight: 41 lbs
Variety: Bench
Summer is a fairy princess who came into ESRA's care when her owner suffered a catastrophic illess and could no longer care for her. She is a beautiful little girl who loves all people, but especially thinks that toddlers hung the moon. They are her eye level and she sits prettily, scoots up close and gives them kisses and kisses and more kisses.

She is well mannered in the house and car, she loves splashing in baby pools. Outgoing and friendly with new people, she climbs right in their laps, but she is timid about new experiences and needs her confidence built up. Though she has always lived wth other dogs, she doesn't like sharing her people or food with other dogs very much, so may be happiest as an only dog.

Summer is up to date on vaccinations, is spayed and is heartworm negative. If you are looking for a dog to spoil rotten, Summer is looking for you!

Please read the Adoption FAQ for more information about adopting Summer.

Gender: Female
Color: Black & White
Weight: 55 lbs
Variety: Bench

We're sorry to announce
that Sweetie died today.

Our sympathy to all who
cared for her.

Meet Sweetie,

She was found living in someone's barn for days. The wonderful woman who found her, gave her a bath, removed the matt's and burrs and named her "Sweetie" because of her disposition. Then, she called ESRA.

When we picked her up, she was waiting on the front porch by herself, (no humans around) and when foster Mom pulled into the driveway , she got up off the porch, walked to the car and got in without being told anything! It was as if someone had told her that morning to just wait for the car to come, go and get in and your life will change forever! And, that is exactly what she did.

Sweetie is a sweet girl, named appropriately and she looks like she has had some rough times in life. That hasn't stopped her faith in people! She is housetrained, calm, and just a dear girl. She will stay by your side and follow you around the house.

Sweetie will be spayed and brought up to date on her shots. She needs to lose a few pounds (foster Mom has her on a low calorie diet) and get plenty of exercise.

Sweetie will make someone a wonderful companion for life!

Please read the Adoption FAQ for more information about adopting Sweetie.

Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-02-04

Age: 5 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver and white
Weight: 47 lbs
Variety: Bench
Annie is a beautiful young lady whose family has found that their busy lifestyle
does not allow her to get the time and attention she needs. They have made the painful
decision to allow ESRA to rehome her.

Annie is housetrained, good with children, good with other dogs, and good at the groomers.
She will however, give chase to the outdoor kitty. She is happy and healthy. She enjoys
car rides and ear rubs, but mostly wants to be with her people as an integral family member.

Annie is just the perfect age, young enough to enjoy anything you want to do,
but old enough not to have that unpredictable puppy behavior.
Annie would be a wonderful addition to almost any lifestyle or situation.

ESRA#: 2008-658GA
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-08-04

Age: 4 years
Gender: Male
Color: Tricolor
Weight: 42 lbs
Variety: Bench
Bailey was all excited when he was loaded into the car as his family left for their summer vacation. Where are we going? The seashore? The mountains, maybe? Grandma's house? No, unfortunately Bailey's trip only went so far as the local shelter. His excitement quickly turned to disbelief and fear as he was left behind with strangers. Luckily the shelter workers saw what an absolutely beautiful sweet boy he is, contacted ESRA, and he was quickly brought into foster care.

Bailey's previous life had been spent living outside with little attention. He has quickly adapted to indoor living and luxuries. He is totally housetrained and is fine with free roam of the house. He doesn't get on furniture and so far has not taken liberties with food left on the counter top. He sleeps all night, enjoys his walks, and has excellent leash manners. He is enthusiastic but polite when meeting new friends including children, adults and other dogs. He and his 5 yr old foster sibling get along just fine.

Bailey’s personality has the ideal balance of a loving and affectionate dog who desires attention, while independent enough to enjoy resting in an adjacent room on his bed alone. He enjoys good daily exercise but does not require endless activity. His versatility suggests that he would adapt to a variety of family situations.

Won't you consider giving Bailey a forever home? There is still time to make his dreams of a summer vacation come true. He will reward you with a lifetime of love and loyal companionship

These absolutely precious babies were abandoned and luckily picked up by the local shelter and turned over to ESRA. There are two females and one male, all liver and white. No other history is known, but lets just say their life is about to get a lot better no matter what it was!

Raising a puppy requires a lot of time and patience. You must be available for
regular potty trips around the clock and a committment to proper socialization and exercise to get them off to a good start. Obedience training is an excellent opportunity to bond with your new family member while establishing yourself as the leader of your pack.

Adding a puppy to your family can easily be a 15 year committment. If you are ready for the challenge you will be rewarded with a faithful companion for many years to come, not to mention the puppy breath for the next few weeks!

Charlie, and his pup, Willie are looking for a new home. Their owner has had a major life change and is not able to give them the attention they need. They are very special dogs and ESRA is happy to help them find their new forever home.

The volunteer who met them says they are both wonderful dogs, enthusiastic, friendly, curious, lovable and extremely sweet. They are good with children and other dogs, but we don't know about cats. They enjoy car rides and don't mind a trip to the groomers. They know the sit command and are enthusiastic about the come command. Age: 5 years
Gender: Male

Weight: 50 lbs
Variety: Field
Charlie III is a handsome little guy who was left at a shelter by his former family. This boy has a lot of energy, likes people, is good with children, and really enjoys other dogs. He is house trained and crate trained and learned to use the doggie door in just a matter of minutes. He is curious, but not destructive, and definitely not stubborn. He does need his exercise and will need a little help with learning leash manners.

Charlie III is a diamond in the rough. He has not been given opportunity to learn the things a springer needs to know to be a great companion and member of the family. However, because he is smart and eager to please, a family committed to spending time on his training will be rewarded with a loving, fun, playful and obedient companion. So far he has aced everything his foster home has taught him!

He is healthy and has been recently neutered. He will fit into almost any family situation though he may be too exuberant for toddlers. He would also enjoy having another dog to be his buddy and help him run off his energy

Age: 5 years
Gender: Female

Weight: 50 lbs
Variety: Bench
Charlotte and her sister Emily were abandonded in their backyard when their owners divorced and moved away. A neighbor brought both girls to the local humane society. As sad as that sounds, it may be the best thing that could have happened to these beautiful girls. Both girls were heartworm positive and suffered from intestinal maladies that could only have made them miserable. In addition, they were very dirty, covered in fleas, and their coats were long and matted as if they had never been groomed.

Enter ESRA. Both girls have been treated for heartworm and are now healthy. Obviously they have been groomed and are living the good life in a safe and clean environment.

They both have so much personality and are so different. Charlotte is stockier (though not overweight) with a fair number of freckles and a docked tail. She is the boss lady. She will eat everyone's food, butt in if you try to love on Emily, and steal toys right out of Emily's mouth. She is the more sedate of the two. She walks very well on the leash and settles quickly while you are watching TV or reading, but is right with you every step just in case you go to the kitchen for a snack. She loves to be loved and is a wiggle butt. She knows sit and will sit even before you ask when you have a treat or her food. She is also a very sneaky counter surfer and appears to have sofa experience..she likes her pillows just so. She curls up in a little ball to sleep on her doggie bed and sleeps throughout the night.
Charlotte is a wonderful alert dog. She lets you know when the doorbell rings, even if its on TV. She will bark at squirrels or critters she sees outside the window, or even a boat passing on the lake. She does not bark at cars or strange dogs and is no way obtrusive with her barking.
Charlotte could easily be adopted alone as she seems confident and secure.

Both Emily and Charlotte are wonderful beautiful girls. Despite their long-term neglect, they still have the capacity for unconditional love--quite amazing.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Charlotte.

Age: 8 years
Gender: Male

Weight: 53 lbs
Variety: Field
Chris was abandoned at a shelter with his friend Cierra who has already been adopted. Everyone who has met Chris has commented on his sweet and compliant disposition.

Initially he was fearful when meeting people and would crouch to the ground, but
time and some good treats have helped him be more confident and trusting. He has not had much in the way of training so he and his foster mom have been working on basic training. He has learned to respond to come, out, sit, and no. He still pulls a bit on the leash but has such a desire to please it will not be difficult to control this. He is keeping his kennel clean which indicates he will be easy to housetrain.

Christopher enjoys quietly sitting at your feet and though he loves attention he is not demanding of it. He responds best to a calm voice and positive reinforcement so he is looking for a quiet home and family and someone to continue his training and who will help him to gain confidence in this world that is so new to him.

If you are looking for a low key loyal companion, please consider Christopher

8/03/08 Update from Cierra's foster mom:

Cierra is a sweet calm girl without excess energy to burn off, although she does enjoy her walks and just following me room to room. That is, until she hears her food bowl being prepared, then she breaks into happy ecstatic leaps and dancing!

We are fine tuning her housetraining and she does great with the cats and other dogs living here. Because of her submissive nature, Cierra is looking for a quieter home, or even a condo, and a family willing to continue her positive reinforcement training.

1/22/08: Adopted.
Meet Coby, a six month old baby. He was recently rescued with his brother, Cory. They were living in a small outdoor pen that was way too small for two active young springers. They had had little chance to run and play or interact with humans. Showing the typical resilient spirit of springers however, these two boys have both been busy trying to make up for lost time.

They quickly learned about the doggie door in their foster home. They also made fast friends with several of the other springers in foster care. Now their days are filled with playtime and learning all about loving and being loved.

Both puppies enjoy playing with stuffed toys, chewies, and balls. They throw them in the air, catch them and play with them. Both of these guys are very handsome, playful, affectionate and smart. Coby is slightly smaller, has more brown in his coat, a narrower blaze on his forehead and is less dominant than Cory.

These boys will need a home ready for an active springer and dedicated to giving the guidance and training that will help them develop into loyal family members.

Cory and Coby can be adopted separately or as a pair. Either way these boys promise a lifetime of love and companionship for their new forever family!

Weight: 40 lbs

Looking for a perfect southern gentleman? Then Connor is your man!

Connor came to us from a local shelter, though it is hard to understand how he wound up there. He has wonderful manners both indoors and out. He is gentle, well-behaved, housetrained, and crate-trained. He sleeps in his crate all night without making a sound. He does not get on the furniture unless invited, loves to be brushed, and waits patiently for his food. He does not chew on anything that is not his, and shares his toys with the resident dog in his foster home.

Conner loves to be near you and lies at your feet waiting to have his head rubbed. He rarely makes a sound but gets very excited when you announce it is time for a walk. He loves to go for walks and has very good leash skills. He also knows how to sit and lie down on command. He understands the word "no", but he is such a good boy he doesn't hear it often.

Connor is heartworm negative, neutered, and up to date on all of his shots. He gets along well with other dogs and cats and is so gentle he should get fine with children, although there are none living in his foster home. Connor obviously had a great upbringing and you will be the beneficiary of his early training. All he needs now is for you to take him home and love him forever.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Connor.

Emily is lively and curious in the house. She does not bother anything, but goes around the house looking and sniffing and playing while carrying her ball or toy in her mouth. At times she will give a little whine to get your attention to play with her. She will follow her people every step and is very affectionate she loves a good belly rub. She walks very well on the leash, staying right at your side. She is a very good walker and could probably be a jogger also. She does not appear to have been obedience trained but there is definitely raw talent to work with as she is very eager to please you. She sleeps throughout the night on her own bed, at times on her back with all four feet straight in the air.

Emily is a little insecure on her own and looks to Charlotte for guidance and security. She hopes that her new forever home will have a buddy for her to lean on.

Both Emily and Charlotte are wonderful beautiful girls. Despite their long-term neglect, they still have the capacity for unconditional love--quite amazing

Emma's foster mom says: This is a dear, sweet, sedate, affectionate lady. She enjoys your company and attention but is not demanding. She will sit graciously before her meals and wiggles all over when you talk to her. She has so much to give to someone looking for a loyal and wonderful companion.

Flash was left at a local shelter by his family that said he had grown too large. At thirty-one pounds Flash is actually a rather small springer, but he has a big personality.

Flash loves everybody and everything. He adores kids of all ages, other dogs, family cats, and even the resident bunny. He even enjoyed getting a much needed bath. He is housetrained, crate trained, and willing to share his food bowl with anyone. He loves going for walks, playing with stuffed toys, and playing Frisbee.

Flash still has some puppy left in him so he has lots of energy and a bit of mischievousness, just enough to keep you entertained.

He is healthy, neutered, up to date on his shots, and all ready for his new forever home. He would fit in beautifully with most any family looking for an active playmate. Flash's precious little face and endearing personality would brighten anyone's day. We would love to have you meet him. Watch out he'll steal your heart in a Flash!

ESRA#: 2004-298TN
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-03-19

Age: 8 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 43 lbs
Variety: Bench
Hannah had found an adoption home in 2004 with a
family that loved her, but the family has had illnesses recently and Hannah was spending too much time alone. So, they asked ESRA to help find her another home where she'll get more attention.

Hannah is a real delight! At seven years, she's past the puppy stage and is happy with a few walks and a game of ball, then she will snuggle with you or chew a bone at your feet. Hannah does not like being left alone or being crated, but she does fine when left with the other dogs in her foster home. In fact, Hannah would do very well having a doggie brother or sister, or even a cat (the foster cats love her).

Hannah likes going outside with her people, and with a bit more training she will walk nicely on a leash. She does well with new dogs at the dog park. She is brave enough to run off with them in a game of chase, and checks back periodically to see if her people are watching. She is housebroken with no accidents, even when left loose in the house during the day. Watch out what you leave on the kitchen counter, though, because Hannah will try her best to get it!

Hannah is healthy and a total sweetheart, looking for a home where she will have lots of companionship and love.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Hannah.

Looking for Ducks

ESRA#: 2007-614GA
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-01-13

Age: 3 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver and white
Weight: 48 lbs
Variety: Field
9/10/07: Harry is doing just great in his foster home. His coat is shiny and healthy now and he still enjoys swimming. Harry has told his foster mom (who absolutely adores him!) that he is all set to find his new forever home. He would love to have some doggie companionship and a family that has lots of time to spend with him.

8/22/07: Occasionally there is a situation in rescue that stays in the mind and the heart of the rescuer forever. Such is the story of Harry and his mate Hailey.

Harry and Hailey were once owned and cared for but due to unkown circumstances they were abandoned and passed around through a succession of owners. They wound up living outside in deplorable conditions in a very old unkept trailer park wearing plastic ties for a collar and secured to a wire cable. Food was scarce and when Hailey gave birth to her pups she was without water and a safe whelping area. Fortunately for this little family, a kind tenant living there stepped up to notify ESRA. Hailey, Harry, and their pups were brought out of the situation and are now on the road to the happy life they deserve.

Harry is a testament to the resiliency of a young springer. At first he was timid but has quicky learned to love the good life. He is healthy and is gaining weight with good nutrition. He is housetrained, crate trained (with persuasion), eager to please and friendly with people. He gets along well with the resident springer and is curious but gentle with the kitty. He is quite smart and scores high marks with his basic commands. He does countersurf and dumpster dive but with time and consistency these behaviors will likely diminish. He enjoys car rides, belly rubs, swimming, and is learning to chase squirrels and play with toys.

His foster mom says he has the most expressive brown eyes that ask, "Are you the one who is going to love me forever?

Wow, any family will be very lucky that adopts this sweet boy. Hoss has just come into rescue from an owner that was moving and could not take him along.

Hoss is as sweet as they come. A big (not overweight) teddy bear. He gets along well with other dogs and will be tested with cats soon. He has lived with children and was great with them. He is house trained with no accidents to date. No silly chewing for this boy either. He just wants love, love, love and lots of it.

Hoss has tested positive for heartworms so he will need to be treated for that before moving on to his lucky new family. Could that family be you?

Stay tuned for further updates as he goes through his heartworm treatment.

Age: 8 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 55 lbs
Variety: Bench
Hunter's family has asked for help in finding a new home for him. With a small child and busy schedules they find they do not have the time to care for Hunter as he deserves.

Hunter has a heart of gold, thrives on attention, and loves to cuddle. He plays ball and frisbee for as long as you will, but his favorite activity is swimming. He even has his own life jacket, just in case and his new forever home has a lake or pool! He is good with cats and other dogs, knows all the basic commands: sit, stay, come, down, paw, and heel. He is crate trained and housetrained, walks well on a leash and loves those car rides! Now be honest, those younger puppies do not come with half the resume that Hunter has!

Hunter is somewhat leery of children and will do best in an all adult home.

Hunter is the perfect age, old enough not to have to worry about him eating your good shoes, but young enough to enjoy being active with you for many more years. Hunter deserves a hero to come to his rescue and share with him what will be the best years of his life, and possibly yours.

What a good looking boy Jake is! Long curly ears, soulful eyes, big ole' clunky feet, and just enough freckles to make you want to kiss his muzzle!

Jake has just come into rescue from a shelter where he and his buddy were taken after being found roaming on their own. Being in the shelter was tough on Jake: he was attacked by another dog, he lost his friend, and he was neutered. Jake is very happy to get out of there!

Jake's personality matches his looks. He is a real sweetheart: friendly, laid back, and wants to be with his people. His tail wags non stop and obviously he wants to please. Jake an alert, quick learner. He appreciates praise and biscuits when he does well. He loves kind words and lots of petting too.

Jake appears to be housetrained, but does not like the crate. He is learning about play and enjoys stuffed toys. He will seek out a quiet corner to rest when he gets tired. He likes to sleep in his own bed at night. Jake likes other dogs and would do well living with yours.

Jake is looking for a home where he will get the training and patience that a young springer needs and the attention and love that he deserves.

Hi,

My name is Jenny and I'm a little scared. I've just come from a really bad place and I don't want to go back.

My foster mom says everything is going to get better now. I know I sure feel better with regular food, a good bath, and a warm comfy place to sleep. I really like my foster mom but I am just not sure about anyone else so I'm kind of shy and skeptical. Who wouldn't be, ya know?

I love going in and out of my doggie door especially because that is where I get to play with all the other doggies here and I like that a lot!

Foster mom says I am ready for my own home. I would really like a home that is quiet and sort of low key, like me. Maybe with a doggie buddy to help me feel more comfortable. And since I'm shy you would need to be patient and just give me some time to learn to trust you. If you could take me for walks, give me an ear rub, and talk to me, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be scared anymore.

Love,
Jenny

Color: Black & White
Weight: 52 lbs
Variety: Bench
6/8/08
Judd's birthday is Father's Day this year, June 15. So he will be 12 months old in about a week.

The mobile vet today weighed him and he is 52 pounds! And he will need an adopter who can handle this size Springer.

E-N-E-R-G-Y! Look that word up in the dictionary and you will see
Judd's photo!

Judd is a lovable boy who found his way into rescue when his owners couldn't handle his energy level. They didn't know how to channel all that drive, so most of his short life has been spent in a crate. Now he is trying to make up for all that lost time.

Judd is slowly being socialized with other dogs. He probably hasn't had much socialization before, because he is still too enthusiastic when he meets another dog. Judd is getting lots of training and he works really hard. Afterwards he cools off by standing with both his front feet in his water bucket. What a ham!

Judd loves to be with his people. He has shown his foster home that he is a really smart boy and wants to
please, he just does not quite know how yet.

Judd is looking for a forever family with a very active lifestyle that would include him, or better yet, one that would center on him. Positive reinforcement obedience classes would help both his training and his social skills too. Daily purposeful exercise will be a great way for him to let off steam.

A beautiful sweet boy, Judd would love to share his joy of life with you!

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Judd.

Date: 2008-01-07

Age: 1 years
Gender: Male
Color: Black and white
Weight: 30 lbs
Variety: Bench
Hello there, meet Kelsey, a happy little pup who is high on life and loves people and dogs. He was rescued from a kill shelter in southern Louisiana by ESRA after his sister was adopted by a local family and he was left alone.

After being taken from the shelter, he was held in isolation at a local vet clinic because of parvo concerns. He subsequently tested negative for parvo, was given all of his shots including rabies, neutered and transported into foster care.

Once in foster care, he quickly learned how to go out of the doggie door to the kennel yard then back in to the air conditioned kennel. Since the first days in foster care he has not had an inside accident. He has lots of energy and loves to run and play with the other fosters. He quickly found which of the other fosters would play with him and he goes to them when he feels energetic. Although he is very active and plays a lot he does not play rough.

He is learning his name and automatically goes to his kennel for his evening feeding. He is developing a beautiful coat with fringes on his ears, chest, legs and tail.

Kelsey will need a family who will commit to his continued training by attending positive reinforcement obedience classes. He’s very smart and attentive but needs to have the training that will allow him and his new family to communicate with each other. He’ll be a quick study.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Kelsey.

Age: 12 months
Gender: Male
Color: Tricolor
Weight: 40 lbs

Mr. handsome, full-of-kisses Kirby was found darting between cars south of Atlanta when a very nice GA Tech professional took him in and called ESRA. Kirby loved his rescuers’ children and the family’s Boxer-mix, and has quickly acclimated to his current ESRA foster home and foster ESS sister.

Kirby is a recently neutered, handsome, nine months old, roughly 40 pounds, black and white tri color male. He has the personality of a well-loved adult dog with puppy playfulness. Kirby knows some basic commands such as sit, no, stay and don’t jump. As a true ESS water-loving dog, he doesn’t mind his paws and ears cleaned after some solid playtime outdoors.

In addition to his loving, playful personality, Kirby walks nicely on a leash, loves to run in the backyard and chase balls. He is not shy and has a great temperament with other dogs and children. Kirby’s foster parents are working on crate training him and he has caught on quickly to house training too.

He is a true love, a beautiful boy with a great white smile and would make a patient, playful family very happy.

Weight: 54 lbs

Hi everyone,

My name is Lilly Ann. I used to live with a family but they had to move away so they brought me to a shelter. What a creepy place! I am so glad to be in foster care with lots of other springers of all sizes and ages and I like them all!

I am housetrained and I learned to use the doggie door on my first day here. I also know how to sit when you ask and I can come when you call if I'm not too busy. I like going for walks and sometimes I get so excited I pull on the leash a little too much, but I am just learning.

My coat is very short and my foster mom says that I am easy to groom.. just wash and wear!

I hope to hear from you if you are in need of a new best friend and playmate.

Love,
Lilly Ann

From Lilly Ann's foster mom:

Lilly Ann is a terrific young lady, playful yet gentle for her age and size. She is a good candidate for obedience training—-a great opportunity to bond with her
adoptive family. She would fit into almost any family situation where she would be accepted as one of the family.

Maggie is a wonderful dog and even had a wonderful life until the human baby came along. Then Maggie was banished to the back yard where she became lonely and bored. We all know this is not the life for a springer, especially one as smart, sweet, and beautiful as Maggie.

Maggie has just spent a long weekend with a volunteer who summed her visit up by saying that she is by far the best dog ever and should go to a very special family. So we are looking for that very special and lucky family.

Maggie is loving and sweet, even wants to put her paws on your shoulders and give you kisses! She is very well trained and knows several basic and even advanced commands, responding to anything you ask of her. She has wonderful house manners, and walks politely on her leash. She loves to play fetch with the ball and enjoys going with you in the car.

Everyone who has met Maggie has been awed with her beauty and sweet loving disposition.

Maggie's perfect forever home will be one where there is no competetion from young children or other dogs, and where she will be an integral member of the family forever.

Age: 3 years

Handsome Max was brought to a local Georgia shelter where he was relinquished by his owners. He was placed up for adoption, but due to overcrowding, he was only given a few days before being scheduled for euthanasia. With the help of another rescue group Max was sprung. The reason for his relinquishment remains a mystery-however it may be because he tested heartworm positive. But otherwise this boy is healthy inside and out!

Max is a superstar dog! A gorgeous bench bred boy, he enjoys playing with other dogs. He is housetrained and just a wonderful companion. He is sweet, loving, and very affectionate. Max would be happiest in a family with a very active lifestyle. Because he is energetic and smart, he would benefit from obedience training with his new family.
Max is currently undergoing HW treatment and will be available for adoption just after the holidays.

Weight: 45 lbs
Variety: Bench
Oreo is the total springer package. First of all, who could resist that face? So handsome with just a touch of devilishness in those eyes! And smart? He is just prime for someone to show him the ropes and teach him all about the good life.

Oreo has just landed in foster care and so far we have established that he is house trained, crate trained and friendly with other dogs. He knows how to sit for a treat but needs help in remembering to keep all fours on the floor when meeting new people and when in the kitchen. He also needs work with walking on a leash and we think obedience training will make this young fella an incredible companion.

Oreo has energy to spare. He loves retrieving tennis balls, is a tireless frisbee chaser, and would most likely be a good jogging buddy. After an active day, he will settle in the house and lie next to your chair. He is a velcro boy and will follow you from room to room. He is good with kids, though his enthusiasm may be too much for a small toddler.

Age: 5 years
Gender: Female

Weight: 37 lbs
Variety: Bench
Hello there,

My name is SAGE. That name was given to me by the family who owned me. They kept me in their backyard by myself all of my life and so I kept getting out. All I wanted was for somebody to give me some attention and play with me.

Well, I ended up at a shelter and when the volunteers saw that I was a Springer, and they contacted ESRA. While I was at the shelter, I enjoyed playing with the other dogs and when anyone would come around, I would get my toy and run over to see if they would play with me. If they didn’t have time I played by myself. The shelter people fell in love with me, of course, and described me as a beautiful girl with a spectacular personality.

One day a volunteer came and took me for a ride to Baton Rouge where I was checked out by a doctor, got some shots, and had my teeth cleaned. They also found out that I had heartworms. Not long after that I went for another ride and ended up in my foster home with a new mom to take care of me and keep me safe. She took me to a doctor who treated me for heartworms. I also have lots of doggie friends that I can now play with.

My foster mom says to tell you that I’m a climber. I will try to climb over or under any barrier to get to my people. My foster mom describes me as a happy-go-lucky, smart little girl who is high on life. I have learned how to use a doggie door so I can go outside whenever I want.

Even though I am very smart, there are lots of things that I need to learn like how to walk well on lead without pulling, come, sit, and stay – consistently. I need a home where my new family will go with me to obedience classes so I can learn what I need to know.

Now that I have a chance to go outside to take care of business, I don’t have any more accidents. My foster mom says that she has never seen a Springer that has more desire to please.

I need a home where I get lots of attention, positive reinforcement, and love. I like other dogs, so it’s okay with me if there is another doggie friend around.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Sage.

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male

Weight: 51 lbs
Variety: Bench
Are you looking for a sweet dog? Well meet Sam, a total Teddy Bear. Sam is one of several springers who came from an owner who had too many dogs to care for. Sam had not gotten the human interaction that these dogs love and need. Consequently, at first he was quite shy and unsure of himself around humans.

Sam is used to and enjoys the companionship of other dogs. His best buddy, a seven month old male Springer, recently passed away and Sam misses him greatly. Sam would do well with another canine buddy for guidance and security, and having a playmate would be absolutely great.

Sam has begun to learn how great life can be in foster care. He has discovered playtime and toys. He doesn’t like a crate (he probably spent way too much time confined in one.) He is a puppy still and will get into things if not watched. He will chew on things he finds in the home so a stash of appropriate chew toys is helpful in redirecting his interest.

Sam spent Thanksgiving week visiting a home with several young children in the house and he did well, even enjoyed the extra attention. He is mostly housetrained and is learning about walking on a leash. He also likes to sneak in a snuggle with his foster mom now and again.

Sam will need a home that understands his shyness and will work with him patiently and slowly to overcome it. Inside Sam is a confident playful springer who with the right combination of training and love will blossom.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Sam.

Sonny has not had much training in his short life so he is looking for a family that will help him make up for lost time. Formal obedience classes and consistent daily training and exercise are a requirement.

Sugar is a total sweetie. She's a snuggle bug who loves cuddle time with her people. She's good with other dogs and children. She had been kept outdoors, but is adapting well to being inside. She is also working on crate training.

Sugar is healthy, but is heartworm positive. She'll need to complete treatment before being available for adoption, that should be in a few weeks.

Sweet Pea is everything her name implies. She is gentle, affectionate and very loyal. She is very attached to her caregiver, and relishes every ounce of attention that comes her way.

Sweet Pea starts out a little shy but after a few minutes of petting she is your best buddy. She loves taking a few runs around the fenced yard to check out her territory, then its back to the house and out of this Atlanta heat. She gets along well with other dogs but is not fond of cats. She has a skin condition on her back that caused some hair to thin out, but after treatment it's already looking much better. She is housetrained and very good at letting you know when its time for a trip outside.

Sweet Pea has a smile that lights up the room and makes everyone smile in return. If you are looking for an easy going best friend to bring some light into you life, Sweet Pea would be a perfect companion for you.

Sydney and her sibling were found by a good Samaritan in horrible condition on the side of the road. Unfortunately her sibling did not survive, but with wonderful and immediate vet care Sydney has bounced back completely. She is all ready for her new forever home.

Her foster mom reports she is a typical curious, energetic girl; she enjoys classical music on the radio and playing with lots of toys. She has begun her educational journey, learning housetraining, proper play, interaction with people and dogs, and (most importantly) how to wrap her family around her little paws!

Raising a puppy requires a lot of time and patience. If you are ready for the challenge you will be rewarded with a faithful companion for many years to come!

Date: 2008-03-03

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 44 lbs
Variety: Bench
Tony is a spirited, high-energy Springer who came to Rescue from an animal shelter. He had been exiled to a stake in the back yard and finally his owner turned him in to the shelter. He is a good-looking boy with a beautiful dark liver and white coat and long Springer ears. He is about a year and a half old.

This puppy dog is really really friendly and he loves attention. He is playful and good with other dogs. He will play, almost non-stop, with any dog that will play with him. He even likes dogs that don’t like him. We should all be that way. In spite of some fairly shabby treatment, he maintains a great Springer temperament.

Tony is house broken and is definitely eager to please. He needs a little work on the leash as he tugs, but maybe he is just eager to get on to his new life.

This young boy had been neglected a bit and came into rescue with a case of heartworms but now that is all behind him. He is in good health and has all of his vaccinations. He is trying to gain a little weight.

Tony is ready to move on to his forever home. We think he deserves a good one! Have a look at his pictures. Do you have a place in your heart and your home for Tony? If you do, please complete the online application to adopt!

So you never thought you would be looking for Trouble? Well here she is! Trouble really is not trouble, she is just like the rest of us middle aged ladies, we have our opinions of how things should be!

Trouble likes things a little more sedate and predictable. And though she tolerates dogs of varying genders and activity levels, she is happiest with just her people. She would make an excellent companion in a sedate home where she is allowed to gradually acclimate to her environment with adoptive parents who are home during the day and can give her all the attention she deserves. She would most likely do best in an environment where she is an only child. Trouble has years of love to give to her new family!

Trouble came to ESRA from a shelter in Alabama and had the usual symptoms of neglect. After some loving treatment, she is now healthy and ready for her forever home.

Zach just celebrated his 4th birthday this week and he hopes this year will be the charm, the year he will find his forever home.

This calm, laid back boy is the perfect combination, he's gorgeously handsome on the outside and loving and loyal on the inside. Zach loves to be petted, brushed and groomed. He will even give your hand a little nudge with his nose to remind you to keep rubbing him.

Zach walks great on lead and would be a wonderful walking or jogging partner. He is trained to a doggy door and knows his basic sit, come and stay commands. He gets along fine with the other dogs in his foster home, but he is not playful with them.

Zach is one of those mellow dogs who seems content wherever he is, but is happiest when with his people. Zach is looking for an all adult home in need of an easy going and gentle companion and willing to shower him with the love and attention he deserves.

She is healthy, spayed, kennel trained, and appears to be housetrained. She uses the doggie door to let herself in and out. She is a social butterfly and really enjoys playing and being with the other dogs in foster care. Chrissy has a video on her Petfinder listing. Have a look, and turn on your sound so you can hear her bark!
2/20/08:

Hi,

I've completed my treatments for mange, and have a clean bill of health.

I also have done a complete turn around and love other dogs. In fact, I love other dogs so much, that I would thrive in a home with another younger dog to play with.

I am anxiously awaiting my forever home. Please consider me today.

Love,
Chrissy

1/16/08:

Can you imagine going on a trip to the park with your humans, being pushed out of the car, and then watching them drive away leaving you in the dark? Well, that's what happened to me. And this was not just on any ordinary evening. They dumped me on Christmas Eve! A nice park manager fed me and took me to the shelter who immediately called ESRA.

Now I am enjoying my time with my foster family and am learning so many new things. Actually, I think I know more than they expect me to because every time they ask me to do simple things like sit or tell me to eat or go to bed, I just do it naturally much to their surprise. I am just about house trained and am crate trained. I have an apparent lack of socialization with strange humans and dogs, but my foster family has been working me through that as well. I may bark and growl, but I eventually say hi and find myself wanting to play with them. I am becoming very good friends with my foster brothers and sister (the kids and cats are not bad either).

As you can tell, I am a beautiful bench-bred liver tricolor. The vet says I am close to a year old, but my foster family thinks that I may be younger. I am spayed and up to date on all of my shots. I am going through a series of treatments for demotex mange and will be done with them and available for adoption around January 26th.

I am a sweetheart and will be a wonderful life-long companion for any family. I love children (even little ones) and I walk well on a leash. I am very smart, even though my name may remind some of you of a very silly blonde on a night-time comedy dealing with the number three. I even chose my own name and respond best to it only. Call me anything else, and I will just ignore you!

I am not bitter about being dumped on Christmas Eve, but I really look forward to that special holiday with my forever home. Please be my Christmas wish by having an approved adoption application on file before you inquire on me.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Chrissy.

Hi,

My name is Peter, and I am such a sweetheart. I make it a point to be as sweet and silly as possible to show you how much I love you. It would only take a second for you to fall in love with me when you see my ears flop as I lick my chops at mealtime. My foster mom says that I love cats too much, but I can't help but to try to find a really active playmate. If I am not looking for a cat, my next best thing is to be in the arms of someone who loves me. Can you be that
person?

I am good with children of all ages and other dogs. I am up to date on all of my shots and microchipped. A neuter deposit is required upon adoption as I am still too young to be neutered.

Raising a puppy requires a lot of patience. I need someone available for regular potty trips around the clock. A comittment to early socialization and obedience training is a must. Obedience training is a wonderful way to bond with your dog and to establish yourself as the pack leader.

Will you choose to be my pack leader today?

Love,
Peter

Hi,

My name is Ginger. I was taken to a shelter after giving birth to a litter of pups. I'm sure glad that's over!

I have fun here in my foster home. I live with horses and other springers, and though they are all very nice, I would really prefer to be an only dog in my forever home.

I love to go for car rides but I will pout when its not my turn to ride up front. I also enjoy going for a walk. Oh, and belly rubs, they're the best! My favorite trick is playing worm, I lie down on my belly and scoot across the floor. That one really makes folks laugh!

At night when we all settle on the couch for TV time, I like to wigggle my way up next to my foster mom. Then I put my paw on her lap just to let her know I'm there.

Love,
Ginger

From Ginger's foster mom:

Ginger is just a dear little girl, easy to have around, lots of company, and very entertaining. She is housetrained, has wonderful manners, and is very obedient.

WARNING: It won't take long before she wigggles and worms her way into your heart.

Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-02-04

Age: 4 years
Gender: Male
Color: Black and white
Weight: 45 lbs
Variety: Bench

Lance is an absolute gem. He was rescued from a very crowded situation where he did not get the human interaction that these dogs love and need. Consequently, he is quite shy and unsure of himself around humans, and at first was even hesitant to take a treat from a human hand.

Lance has begun to learn how great life can be in foster care. He has discovered toys and his favorite is a large yellow ball that squeaks, bounces, and can stand up to heavy duty gnawing. He loves the security of his crate and has done extremely well with his housetraining. He does not get into trash or countersurf but will chew on things he finds in the home, however, his attention is easily redirected to appropriate chew toys.

Lance gets along great with other springers in the home (even the bossy female) and his best buddy is a one yr old male springer. He has shown an intense interest in the resident kitty, so we are not sure if a home with a cat would be best. However, another canine buddy for guidance and securty as well as a playmate would be absolutely great.
Lance needs a forever home that will continue patiently working with him to overcome his shyness and insecurities. Lance has great potential to become a wonderful family friend and companion.

Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-03-03

Age: 2 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 38 lbs
Variety: Bench

Tom is one of several springers who came into rescue from a situation where an owner had too many dogs to care for. Thanks to ESRA, Tom and his entire pack are now learning about living and socializing with humans. They are also learning about the good life that is in store for each of them.
When first brought into foster care, Tom was reluctant to join into any activities that the resident springer enjoys, feeling more comfortable to stay and watch from the sidelines. Though still a quiet, shy fellow, Tom is beginning to get comfortable with the routine in his new surroundings.

Tom is already housetrained and is learning about playing with toys, walking on leash, sleeping on a comfy bed, having plenty of good food, and lots of human interaction. He has also been shaved down and is rid of the mats and parasites that likely kept him from feeling his best.

Tom is looking for a loving forever home where there will be structure, consistency, and patience as he leaves his past behind him and blossoms into the loyal and loving dog that is hidden inside. He is a beautiful springer on the outside and we believe that with a family to love him and to love, his little personality will soon shine just as brightly as his gorgeous new coat!

Hi, It’s me, Bailey. They call me Bay here at my foster home. I am the quick and feisty 19 month old Black and White Springer pup here in Staley North Carolina. Boy, life is great here with lots of new canine friends. I have learned what a puppy is supposed to do. I run, jump, dig, play with the other dogs and love to eat. My favorite toy right now is a tennis ball. I never knew what a ball was until I arrived in foster care. Now we play ball every afternoon when my foster mom gets off work. She and our foster dad play with us all the time but 4:30 until dark is serious play time!

I am a very healthy boy. I had some worms, ear and eye infection but they are all gone now. All I need is a neuter and I will be ready for a forever home. How about getting to the computer and complete the adoption application. I really need a forever home. I'm wearing out the nice folks here. I know my great looks make it easier for them to keep me around, but I am a typical puppy.

If you are ready for a young handsome whipper snapper just ask about Bailey in North Carolina. Hurry I know folks will be lined up for me soon!

I hear a tennis ball calling gotta run!

Bye, Bay

Hi,
Are you looking for a handsome, strong, mellow sweet mature gentleman to be part of your life? If so I am the guy for you. I am Blake and most definitely a gentleman. I am 7 years old and eagerly seeking a forever home. I am a bit shy but I am learning that life can be great in a loving caring home. I have spent my entire life with many other dogs. I enjoy the companionship of another dog, but I would prefer a gentle soul. I could also be a spoiled single boy as well.

I have recently been neutered and received some much needed health care. I have suffered with damaged teeth and poor dental health for quite some time. My new veterinarian believes I am on the road to recovery since receiving a necessary dental. I have 4 damaged canine teeth and almost lost them all. It is hard to believe that I can be as sweet as I am after some adversity in my life. I love to sun bathe and relax on the deck at my foster home. I give great hugs and a shy little kisses.

If you have a comfy spot for me in your home, a couple of good meals a day and lots of love please complete the adoption application and ask for Blake the handsome liver and boy in North Carolina!

I can’t wait to hear from you soon.

xoxo, Blake

5/3/08:

Hey,

It's Blue here. I am ready for my forever home.

I have learned what fun life can be from my foster mom and four legged foster sister. Houdini is my foster sister. She is an agility dog and I go to practice with her sometimes. I love to run and play with other dogs. My perfect home would be active and have another dog and maybe children too.

My foster mom has potty trained me. I am crate trained and would love a fenced yard to run around in.

Please inquire about me soon before someone else adopts me.

Thanks,
Blue

4/11/08: New pictures.

Hi Folks,

Blue Boy here. I am Remy's brother and TJ's son. I am the smallest of the boys at just 25 pounds. I was the most timid of all until I came into foster care. Now I'm just a bit timid when I meet new people.

I am very outgoing with all of my new dog friends. I love running and playing in the yard with them. I was afraid at first to be away from my dog family, but have learned no matter where I go someone is going to love me. I am a wiggle butt extradonaire. I love being at my foster home. There is another dog here and she loves to play. She is an active girl and that is good for a young boy like me. We go to the dog park and mom is getting ready to take me to obedience classes.

I am eating well and putting on a few needed pounds. I enjoy my meals especially because I get them regularly unlike before. My foster mom says I and good in the crate. I am getting used to car rides. I was getting car sick but I think that is because I thought they were taking me back to the bad place. Now I realize I do not need to be nervous about riding in the car with my mom and sister.

If you are looking for a sweet little boy please inquire about me soon.

Cheers,
Blue

Hi,

I'm Buster. My family decided they didn't want me anymore and took
me to a very bad high kill shelter. Thank goodness a nice lady saw me when she
came in to pull another dog for another rescue group. Wow what a relief I am now in a nice home and getting lots of love from ESRA people.

I am a bit shy and I am trying to gain some confidence. All I want is to make
everyone happy. I enjoy leash walks and soaking up the sun. I am a healthy three year old and will be neutered very soon.

I like children and other dogs. I like my foster dad and follow him everywhere. I like my crate but prefer to be close to my people. I've just arrived in foster care, so they're still learning about me everyday.

Please think about making me part of your family. I look forward to being part of a loving forever home soon!

Hi folks,

I'm Chewbacca. They call me Chewie for short. I was adopted by a great family a couple of years ago and have just returned to ESRA's care. My family's life has changed due to work situations and I needed a bit more attention so they contacted ESRA for assistance.

I have to say I am an outstanding boy with a fabulous personality. Oh I should add I am quite handsome too. I am a very smart boy and listen very well. I have very good manners. I am sweet and loving and quite easy going. Did I mention I am obedient? What more can I say I am a great guy.

I enjoy being with you and I have a sense of humor. It's funny what I do to the other dogs in my foster home. I will take a toy and tease the others. Then, drop it, pick it up and run away with it... I love being around other dogs. I think I would like a brother or sister dog. I have been around several children since I came to foster care. I like them. I think bigger kids are cool. The babies scare me a bit. The noise of them crying is frightening. I like the kids that can run and play with me.

Please think about adopting me. I am the very handsome tall dark and handsome young man in North Carolina. Hurry complete the application soon.

May the force be with you,

Chloe and her sister Casey were found wandering in a North Carolina military town. Several folks posted signs, ran newspaper ads for almost a month and no one called to claim them. They were very happy to jump in the van of the folks that picked them up.

Chloe is definitely the alpha of these two girls. She is the elder of the two girls. She is independent and does not require another dog to be happy. Chloe prefers that her foster dad share his attention equally in the house. She knows there are 2 resident dog that get a bit more attention and is ok with that. She enjoys a good treat every once in a while :).

Chloe has a couple of mammary tumors that the vet said should not pose a problem and will be removed soon. She is spayed, Heartworm free and ready for a new home. Please continue to watch Chloe's bio for her medical updates!

Don't forget complete the adoption application soon!

Hey Ya'll,

My name is Dalton. I'm just like the guy in the movie Roadhouse. What's his name Patrick Swayze? Yep that is it. I am quite handsome, very outgoing and in great shape. I am a lean mean playing machine. Just throw the ball for me and I am like lightening across the yard to get it. I am faster then any Springer my foster parents have ever seen. There is a fast guy here but I even beat him :-)

It is hard to believe I've lived so many places in my short three years. The last place loved me but I was outside in a pen or on a chain. They took pretty good care of me but knew I needed more. So here I am in the care of ESRA.

I love to play and be on the move; it's much better than being confined on a short chain. I am learning it's good to sit still and relax. This is a big place and I am free to do as I please, I just don't know what to do yet. My foster dad is really good to me, he helps me relax. The other dogs are great too. There are lots of tennis balls, doggie pools and great food.

I am potty trained and would prefer not to be in a crate. I am healthy. Hooray for that. I am neutered and up to date on all of my vaccines and microchipped.

I need a family that will be patient with me. It will take me a while to believe I really get to stay. I want my very own bed and maybe some active children to play with me. I like the water and maybe we can go to the beach and chase some birds.

Please think about me when you inquire about an ESRA Springer. I won't disappoint you. How could I? Just look at that face.

Woof,
Dalton

WooHoo,

Dan Dan the Tennis Ball man here.

What's everyone up to on these beautiful Spring days? Well I am running and playing with my foster brothers and sisters. I love tennis balls. I carry one with me everywhere I go. I am learning to walk on leash. A nice ESRA volunteer comes over and helps me when my foster mom is at work and dad is busy with his work too. She taught me that a leash can be fun. I can explore and not get lost like I did before when I ended up in the shelter. I am learning on a retractable leash. When I hesitate she walks on I then I will follow.

I would like a home with a playmate. I enjoy playing and exploring in the big yard.It would be alot more fun with a sister or maybe a brother. I like girls :-)

Don't you need a new family member to share the rest of your life with? I think you need me. I will give you lots of hugs and kisses everyday. I smile all the time. Hurry and adopt me before someone else snatches me up!

Thanks,
Dan the tennis ball man!

Hi,

Daniel the Springer Spaniel here. I am one happy boy. I was saved from the Moore County Animal Control in Sanford NC. When I came out of the shelter I was very scared and shy. I was very afraid of a leash and I am learning that it is ok to walk on a leash. It will take some more time but I know whoever adopts me will be patient.

I am one of the most handsome field Springers you have ever seen. My personality is just as handsome. I am outgoing, playful, love to talk and you know the best part I enjoy resting and relaxing when I get tired. We have a great set up here in foster care. We have a doggie door that takes us out to a huge fenced in back yard. We have doggie pools, tennis balls, birds and squirrels.

I am house trained and crate trained but definitely prefer not to be in crate. When we go to bed at night I sleep next to a couple of my foster brothers and my foster sister Carly. We are now known as the 4 Muskateers since I have joined in. I sleep all night and would like to get on the bed but know I am not allowed to.

I am a funny guy who loves to be the center of attention. When I am happy I talk and when someone comes to visit I have a very deep bark to alert you of a visitor. Just call me Daniel the doorman. I would like an active family. I love to chase the tennis balls and will gather them all up and wait for you to throw them for me. I enjoy other dogs and would like to have some children around. I do not know about cats because the other dogs here ran the area cat visitor off :-)

I am healthy and all ready to find my perfect forever home. Please drop us a line and complete the adoption application soon!

I am off the play ball now!

Thanks,
Daniel

FREDO
Staley, NC

ESRA#: 2008-30NC
Status: Adopted
Date: 2008-04-01

Age: 7 years
Gender: Male
Color: Black & White
Weight: 55 lbs
Variety: Bench

Hi,

This is my pal Fredo. He's my devoted companion and always looks after my needs. Aren't we lucky to have each other? We want to stay together, but it is hard to find people who are willing to take on two gorgeous, beautiful springers.

Fredo is a nice, huggy boy who loves to play. He does like to lean on women as he sits and watches the world go by. He has a bit of a hip hop due to an old leg injury, but my man can get around! A fenced in yard would be great for Fredo since he loves to explore.

We were so sadly relinquished by our owner due to illness. We have been in a kennel for quite awhile now. Our foster aunt comes and takes us for play dates. She would take us home but circumstances prevent that. We take turns sitting next to her in the truck and we love to ride! Then we go for walks and runs both at the same time on our leashes! Right now, we are patiently waiting for YOU! Give us less than one week to fall into a routine at your home! We will polish up our manners which we have but haven't had to use in awhile.

We are like Shrek and Fiona, won't you think about making Fredo and Rachael Couple of the Year, 2008? You will be rewarded tenfold!

Love,
Rachel

Please consider giving these two a home together. They were adopted as a pair and would love to stay a pair. Their Dad, an ESRA adopter has entrusted us to find them a great home. Due to unforeseen circumstances he is no longer able to care for them and they are back in our care.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Fredo.
