Available: Adopted

Age: Adult
Gender: Neutered Male
Color: Liver and White
Variety: Mix

Call us at 218-685-6220 or 320-808-7940 (cell). Leave a message with your name and number and we will return your call as soon as possible. E-mail or call with questions.

Freddie is a great dog. We think that he may be a mixed breed, possibly with a Lab & Springer. He is liver and white with some brown highlights and has the markings of a Springer. He is much taller and sleeker than a Springer; his fur is longer than a lab but shorter than a Springer.

He was an indoor-outdoor dog so he has been housebroken. There was also an infant in the family that he did fine with. He has had some obedience work too. He barks alot if kenneled and when people are out and about. He gets along with most other dogs.

To meet Freddie please call for an appointment. He is up to date with routine shots and is house trained.

Missy
Sturgeon Bay, WI

Posted: 2/20/2008
Available: Adopted

Age: 8 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver/White
Variety: Purebred

Missy is a true lady dog. She is attached to her tennis ball, optimistically carrying it with her everywhere in the hope that a game of fetch will be forthcoming. She was surrendered by her elderly gentleman owner when his daughter thought the dog was too much work for him to maintain. Missy passed her behavior assessment with flying colors. She has never been around children or cats so the Humane Society has no history on which to base an opinion regarding her behavior with either of those. Missy loves to snuggle on the couch, and is happy to be brushed by our volunteers.

She can play rough at times, because she is still a puppy. You can look in her eyes and see how smart she is. Cupcake only wants to please and be understood. She wants to be with you all the time and enjoys riding quietly in a vehicle. Cupcake will require a very special family that is willing to spend some time training her because she is deaf. You would never know she is deaf unless someone told you. Do you have it in your heart to give her the love and training she deserves? If so, please go to our website and fill out an application before calling.

Jonas
Kalamazoo, MI

Posted: 1/20/2008
Available: Adopted

Age: 2 Years
Gender: Neutered Male
Color: Liver/White
Variety: Purebred

Jonas is blind in his eyes, but he can see you with his heart. He’s looking for a special new family who will be patient with him as he learns his new surroundings. Jonas appears to be a purebred Springer Spaniel. He’s about 2 years old and weighs about 38 lbs. His blindness doesn't stop him from enjoying life, though, and once he gets comfortable in his environment he navigates pretty well. This loving and sweet guy was picked up as a stray in St. Joseph County. He likes to cuddle with his family and to explore outside. Jonas is house trained and likes to chew on all sorts of bones. He gets along great with all types of dogs, even the really bossy lab and the highly energetic terrier in his foster home. In fact, he needs to go to a home where there is at least one other dog so that he can learn from them and be comforted by their company. He tends to howl a bit when there are no people or dogs around because he need another living being as a point of reference from which to understand the objects around him and not be feel lost and afraid. Jonas loves people but is shy at first since it is harder for him to check people out quickly. He walks well on a leash. He would do best in a home without small children. His special new home will need to be patient with him and possibly make some accommodations, but he is so worth it. He will be a loyal and devoted member of your family. He has completed a 9-week beginning obedience class (donated by Briarwood Dog Training of Kalamazoo) and kept up with the rest of class. The SPCA took Jonas to an ophthalmologist to get full details on his condition and to see if there were any treatments for his blindness. The doctor found that both of Jonas’ retinas are completely detached and have been this way since birth. Unfortunately, there is no surgery that would correct this. His eyes jitter a bit, but Jonas cannot feel this and it does not bother him. Jonas is a happy little companion that will warm your heart with his love and silliness. ****His adoption fee is $275****; includes neuter surgery, vaccinations, and all medical. For an adoption application, or to make an appointment to meet this pet, please E-MAIL info@spcaswmich.org. E-mail is the single best way to expedite your request. You may also download an adoption application from our website. Thank you! The SPCA spays or neuters all dogs and puppies. Dogs over six months of age are heartworm tested, and heartworm preventative is applied monthly while in the SPCA's care. Heartworm positive dogs are treated. All dogs and puppies are given medication for roundworms and are tested for other intestinal parasites. If worms are found, the dogs are treated. All dogs and puppies are checked and treated for fleas. All dogs in our care are vaccinated for DHLPP, rabies, bordetella nasal, and bordetella injection; puppies are provided three DHLPP vaccinations. Dogs and puppies are individually priced.

MACON
Minneapolis, MN

Posted: 12/31/07
Available: Adopted

Age: Adult
Gender: Male
Color: Black and White
Weight: 35 lbs
Variety: Mix

Macon is a husky, solid dog with a gentle, submissive personality. Macon gets along well with absolutely everyone, most likely because he is the biggest pushover you have ever met. The kittens at his foster home boss him around and he takes it! He allows the toddlers to lead him all over by the collar, likes things more on the quiet side, and just does everything in his power to please you and do what he thinks you want.

Macon is housetrained, although needs a schedule because he is too quiet to make a fuss to go outside. He will train you to his cues. Homeward Bound requires that all dogs live only indoors. He has been neutered, vaccinated, and tested for heartworm and Lymes disease.

JAXON
Minneapolis, MN

Posted: 12/31/07
Available: Adopted

Age: 1 year
Gender: Male
Color: Liver and White
Variety: Purebred

Jaxon is a very active young springer. He needs lots of play and exercise.

He gets along well with other dogs, particularly if they like to romp and play; but, he chases cats. He is good with kids but too active for infants and toddlers. Jaxon, like many puppies, is very mouthy. He needs an owner who will understand this and train him out of it.

He is housetrained and crate trained. Homeward Bound requires that all dogs live only indoors. He has been neutered, vaccinated, and tested for heartworm and Lymes disease.

SADIE
Omaha, NE

Posted: 12/20/07
Available: Adopted

Age: 4 years
Gender: Spayed Female
Color: Liver and White
Variety: Purebred

Sadie will be four in January. Her owner was a divorced truck driver who worked twelve hours a day and felt Sadie deseved more attention. She is a loving dog, a real velcro Springer.

Sadie thinks she's a lap dog and will cuddle up on the couch with you. As I am typing, she is under my feet at the computer desk. She likes everyone she meets and would make a wonderful pet therapy dog.

Sadie is current on her shots and has been spayed and microchipped. Wouldn't you like to give this girl the home she deserves?

SNICKERS
White Bear Lake, MN

Posted: 12/7/07
Available: Adopted

Age: Adult
Gender: Male
Color: Liver and White
Variety: Mix

12/07/07:   This springer was found with a small terrier but their owners could not be found. His time is up and the terrier was adopted. He looks mostly spaniel but his head is a little too large for a springer and his ears are little short for a springer. Otherwise, he looks like a springer.

He definately has the personality of a springer. He is happy to see and be with you. He goes into his kennel nicely. He is housetrained and has such a winning personality that you bond with him immediately.

Jackson
Minneapolis, MN

Posted: 1/14/2008
Available: Adopted

Age: 18 months
Gender: Neutered Male
Color: Liver/White
Variety: Purebred

Description: Not unlike the artist, Jackson Pollock, this Jackson is a splashy kind of Springer. His markings are a gorgeous sprinkling of liver and dabs of brown accented by larger swaths of white. A work of art in and of himself. And very suitable for hanging around the house. Jackson is 18 months old, 45 pounds and about the sweetest dog his foster family has ever met. Hes house trained, crate trained, doesn't jump up on people or furniture, and doesn't bark or lick inappropriately. As a sporting dog, Jackson loves to run and chase, so a fenced yard will be required. But despite his hunting breed status, Jackson is really more of a lover, preferring to stay away from the world of retrieving game as a sport. Loud noises like gunfire and shouting scare him. So retrieving treats from your hand or maybe the ball is about all Jackson wants to do. Jackson embraces everyone he meets adults, kids, dogs. His gentle nature would probably make him okay around cats, as well. Basically, Jackson just wants to be loved and by your side. After all, isn't that the art of being a really great dog?

Jackson's adoption fee is $365 (cash or check only) and includes spay/neuter, heartworm check, current vaccinations, and microchip and registration. Due to post-adoption services provided, it is Pet Haven's policy to only place dogs into homes within a 60-mile radius of the Twin Cities area.

Sweetie
Minneapolis, MN

Posted: 1/14/2008
Available: Adopted

Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver/White
Variety: Purebred

Description: This sweetheart of a girl could have no other name but Sweetie. It just comes by her naturally. All sugar and spice and everything nice, two-year-old Sweetie, would like you to make her your one and only love. Found in a ditch in northern Minnesota, 40-pound Sweetie managed to survive harsh treatment and come out on the other side a well-behaved girl. She’s house trained, crate trained and really enjoys a long car ride. However, she can be a bit shy and a little protective of her things. Still and all, she works hard at accepting everyone. It just takes her a tad bit longer than some other canines. Then out comes the sweetness and love. Sweetie will do best as the only dog. Kids who are a little older and are respectful of dogs should be okay. Sweetie’d also like a big fenced yard to run in. And maybe some obedience training to teach her how to walk on a leash better as well as all those other things good dogs know. Calm and quiet indoors, Sweetie is waiting to give you some sugar. So if you’ve got a sweet tooth for sweet dogs, this little girl is total confection.

Sweetie's adoption fee is $365 (cash or check only) and includes spay/neuter, heartworm check, current vaccinations, and microchip and registration. Due to post-adoption services provided, it is Pet Haven's policy to only place dogs into homes within a 60-mile radius of the Twin Cities area. Please request an online application at pethavendogs@yahoo.com.
